Today is my Grandfathers birthday. Damon E. Grim was born in 1885 and died in 1976.
He was a farmer in Ohio. He had no teeth, nine fingers, big ears, rough whiskers and walked slow. He’s been dead thirty two years, I think of him everyday. I miss him and try to be like him.
His dogs name was Jet.

Yesterday was the anniversary of the date I first set foot on Grand Cayman, July 17th 1996. I came here on vacation, and six months later I lived here and have been here ever since! Hope they let me stay!

Whacked by lightning

Yesterday, it was a clear and cloudless sunny day, I know, because I was out there for a while. Then I came inside and five minutes later, it was pouring rain like it can only in the Caribbean. Then I had to go back out, and I didn’t have my raincoat. And we had some lightning and thunder at the same time. I was driving in our Radio Cayman Fred Flintstone Van and saw lightning hit it looked like behind our tower. And you know somethings up when the lightning and thunder occur at the same time!!!
When I got back to the station our BBC receiver and newsroom soundboard were fried.
I borrowed a board from a local soundman and was here till 9PM last night swapping it out.
I don’t mind this kind of working late, it’s my job. I just hate working late doing somebody else’s job.
Plus my phone got wet in my pocket and quit working, but it’s OK after drying out!

48

Today is my birthday, I’m 48.
Dang.
That’s old.
Rekkon I’m almost halfway through my life now. Probably closer to almost a third!
My plan is to live forever, so far, so good!

Also it’s Anduin’s BDay too. She’s a youngster still! Big Four-OHHHH~~!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brac Visit W/ OI's P's

Its been a long time since I’ve done a post by email . Wonder if it still
works. I’m at Brac Reef Beach Resort on the porch, room 211. The OI Girl’s
still sleeping. Her parents came to visit Monday. We’ve been having a good
time. We came over here yesterday morning and are going back tonight. Two
days and one night on the Brac.
It’s hard to get a decent cuppa coffee here.

Me and George Washington

The web newspaper this morning has a story about finding George Washingtons childhood house. Me and George Washington go way back. We used to both used to hang out in the Great Dismal Swamp. George Washington owned it, a little before my time, but I aways went back there hiking, biking and kayaking. George Washington had ditches dug in the swamp to float lumber out, and when they dug these ditches, they put the dirt they removed right next to it, so it made a path that was up out of the swamp. When I was last there, a lot of these paths were good enough to drive a car on, others were good enough to ride a bike on, and still others were so grown over they were impassable. One in particular, called The Dismal Swamp Canal, was dug purely by slave labor. The canal when finished, was about two feet deep, and pretty worthless for boats, but that path next to it, became a very useful stage coach road through the otherwise impassable swamp. Today, that stage coach road is a four lane highway called US Route 17. A few years after it was ‘completed’ they dug the canal deeper, and later it became part of the Intra Coastal Waterway.
I have a house in the US that’s very close to the north end of the Washington Ditch, in the north side of the swamp. My house is in Deep Creek, in Chesapeake Virginia. I heard the name Deep Creek was given by George Washington, but I can’t prove it. Also I was told that the very last resistance of the US Civil War was very close to my house in Deep Creek, when the last of the last few rebel fighters ran off into the swamp, but again, I haven’t tried verify it.
One of my old neighbors, (named after John Wayne) was real mad one day, because historians were on his property, digging little holes every few feet. It was kind of funny, because they weren’t really hurting anything, just trespassing and digging little holes. They found Civil War era musket balls and belt buckles.

Also there is a railroad there, and there is a water tank and an old station from the steam train days. The yellow arrow on the pic below shows the old water tank. This tank is like from the 1800’s.

Right now, there is a fire in the Great Dismal Swamp
I could talk all day about the Swamp.

First Visitors

I’m on vacation for the OI Girls Parents visit. I’m excited! They get here Monday! Our first visitors in the new house!

I just finished the third book of a trilogy, The Circle, by Ted Dekker. The first book was called Black, the second Red, and the third White. It’s about this guy named Thomas who is living in two worlds. When he goes to sleep here, he wakes up there. When he goes to sleep there, he wakes up here. IT was really good, I couldn’t put them down!

Shame Shame Shame

How about the American woman dying after spending over 24 hours in a hospital emergency room unattended?
That would never happen anywhere else in the world.
This is an embarrassment to the USA. Is this what democracy brings? Is this what Capitalism brings?
What do people in countries like Iraq and Iran think when they see this? Do you think this makes them want to be like the USA? NO! It makes USA’s enemies fight harder. Incidents like this have lasting repercussions all around the world. The staff at this hospital will be responsible for more US troop death. The US tells their kids stories of ‘dictators’ in other countries killing people, the so called dictators countries tell their kids stories like this lady dying in the Emergency Room in the US.
The US should bring all those troops home and use them to get the US squared away. Put a few machine gun guys in that Emergency Room, to make sure they do their job! The US is just as bad as any third world country. worse in some ways.
This lady could not have died without even being looked at in any other country in the world. It could only happen in the Good ‘Ol USA.
