Last night The Wife and I went to see Oz The Great And Powerful. It was exceptionally good. The movie explains how The Wizard of Oz got up to the land of Oz years before Dorothy arrived.
I especially enjoyed the China Girl, (Who lived in China Town) and the friendly Flying Monkey. (The Wicked Witch of the Wests evil flying monkeys were there too).
The movie was much much better than I expected it would be, and I watched critically for discrepancies that would have an effect on Dorthy’s Wizard of Oz, and found none. It was perfect.
I look forward to seeing this movie again, when the DVD comes out, and I am super glad we saw it in the theater. (We were the only two in the theater, it was completely empty except for us, first time and maybe the last that that has ever happened/will happen.)
I strongly strongly recommend you see it on the big screen if you can.
i don’t go to theaters anymore – can’t stand rude behavior, plus it’s almost an hour to the nearest one. but i will watch it on cable! thanks for the recommend!
Glad you and the wife enjoyed it. Nice you had the theatre to yourselves. Just like a private viewing. We are not WOOz fans I am afraid so probably not our cup of tea but then again from your review we might be missing something. Have a terrific Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
Hmm, it’s playing here in IMAX 3-D. I may have to see it now!
Definitely! We saw it in 3D, nit IMAX, but the 3D is excellent!
glad to hear that..but the movie I want to go see is 42…the Jackie Robinson story…being a Brooklyn Dodger fan, and remember watching him play.
I would never have thought to go to a movie like that… but with your review now I will. I don’t even know if it’s out here yet?
