allegedly I have ̶l̶e̶a̶r̶n̶e̶d̶ ̶ spoken 17700 words in Duolingo.. The other day there were people speaking Spanish on the beach. I could understand a very few words. I lacked the confidence to go and try to talk to them in Spanish.

I guess I need to just jump in there and do it anyway without worrying about making a fool of myself.
