What will they think of next?

airline seats pack fliers into 23 inches of space

The new airplane seat, to be unveiled next week at the Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas conference in Long Beach, would give passengers an experience akin to riding horseback.

They’d sit at an angle with no more than 23 inches between their perch and the seat in front of them — a design that could appeal to low-cost airlines that have floated the idea of offering passengers standing-room tickets on short flights.

“For flights anywhere from one to possibly even up to three hours … this would be comfortable seating,” The seat … is like a saddle. Cowboys ride eight hours on their horses during the day and still feel comfortable in the saddle.”

This is from USA Today

Not me! My airplane seat is too small already! What happens if you get on a plane, and you assume you will have a normal seat, and then you see these seats. Can you get off the plane? What if you get on a plane, and for any reason find the plane unacceptable, can you get off the plane? I don’t think you could but you should be able to.

  1. Holy Shit!! What in the world will they think of next. I wouldn't want to ride on a plane for 30 on those hideous chairs. Imagine flying to Hawaii on one of those stupid things. What are they thinking???? Makes me mad thinking about it…all for money…idiots. I have ridden for years. Horses have a give to them, they are relatively soft…those seats don't look like they give at alll…good golly miss molly…..I hope to take lots of photos of Topsail. I figure, when we 10 gals hit the beach that place will never be the same! lol Not really, we are all very sweet and demure. Am excited! I hope you'll have found a job or at least a good lead by the time I get back! I wish I had a laptop to take down there, but I don't. Have a good week! …debbie

  2. For crying out loud… yes, as if there's that much space already! How about some proper aura space. That's a truly hideous concept, practically like sitting on each others neck.

  3. Yet another reason I refuse to fly. What about someone who's butt is twice that width, can they sit on two of these seats? Geeeesh! all for the love of $$.Say, thanks for your comment on our blog! We like your blog, as well as your wife's. Beautiful pictures, such a change for us in MT, sort of like traveling in a time machine. Hope you come back again to "The Never Done Farm". We'll be back to visit you blog and your wife's blog.*wink*Blessings for your weekend,Kelle

  4. No thanks! Looks like the 'model' is going to slide off the seat. And I guarantee my ass is the twice the size of her. Thank God I only fly once every blue moon!Renee
