The BBC radio this morning said Canada is working on a trade deal with China. That’s funny!
That’s what you’re supposed to do. That’s the purpose of tariffs. When your source becomes too expensive, you find a new source.
in the USA, almost everything you see, you pick up or examine will say “made in China” on it. When I was in Mexico, it did not say “made in China”, it said different places for example the silverware was made in Brazil.
I think American companies, when their supplier has a tariff and their price of supplies goes up, they will simply pass their increased expense on to their customers. The companies in the US are completely missing the point. The purpose is to find a new source of supplies. That way you take care of your customers

A couple problems for the US i see right off the bat… “finding” a country to supply each and every product companies import, is an undertaking that may never present an option. Everyone doesn’t make everything you might need.
When inordinately large tariffs are placed on EVERY nation on the globe by lets say, an imbecile…. your entire proposal goes out the window, along with all kinds of deals set up globally to keep every nation in balance.
When said imbecile continues to alter tariff amounts, sometimes on a daily basis, countries with intelligent leadership see this as a sign of insecurity as far as trusting plans and deals they want to set up.
I’m glad to see the rest of the world snubbing the US.
