it’s hard for me to understand the psychology that would cause a cat to run away from their bowl of food. That is what Goldie was doing. I would put the food down in front of him, he would stick his nose in it and literally run out of the yard under the gate and away.
last night I fed the two cats, Knip started whooding it down like the pig that he is, and Goldie left the premises. I came back inside.
Moments later, it started raining quite hard. I went back outside to move the food bowls away from the rain, further back into the carport. Goldie was there, hiding from the rain. Because of the rain, there was nowhere to run. He ate. This morning, I fed them both, expecting Goldie to run away but he ate again this morning.

The last time I went on a trip, the pet sitter would chase Goldie down the street with the bowl of food. I specifically told her not to because it changes the behavior of the cats, but she did it anyway. And like I said at the beginning I don’t understand the psychology of a cat running away from food but maybe somebody chasing you with a bowl of food would have something to do with it. That end toothache pain.
Anyway, I know Goldie ate yesterday, and I know Goldie ate today. For that I am grateful.
Have a great day
(cats are really strange creatures best left to enjoy as is… attempts at psychological evaluation and the like, will result in no answers and only more questions.)
“Every summer evening as the sun goes down, cats commence to notice things we can’t perceive on their unknown errands in the night.
Padding silently into the hedge pursuing things we’re better off not knowing.
All along the secret underbrush pathways on their unknown errands in the night.
Cats will often bring you things they’ve caught or killed, little common birds or rodents, but the strangest things they capture we’ll never see on their unknown errands in the night.
It’s no good to ask a cat what they do in the night,
but if you’re so inclined,
go right ahead and try.
Every time that I’ve quizzed a cat i get no reply.”
Did you write that poem Dave? It’s quite artistic!
