I didn’t swim the Flowers Mile Swim this year. I didn’t enjoy the last 2 years. It wasn’t the swim, it was the setup. My towel and sunglasses and car and keys are at one end, I’m at the finish with no towel, sunglasses or hat It’s salty and crusty and hot and there’s nothing to drink. All my money is back at the start too. They have all these sponsors and politicians torturously making speeches before the awards ceremony

The t-shirt sucka, some kind of plastic recycled non wearable “thing” and as soon as you exit the water, you “go thru the chutes”, like cattle.

a couple years ago I tried to park at the finish, and walk back to the start before the race and ended up with huge blisters on my feet. Last year, I left after the race and didn’t wait for the awards ceremony.

I’ll probably swim next year though…
