Bread and Water?

Bread-and-WaterIs it possible to become allergic to bread and water? Lately when I drink water on an empty stomach, (I drink a lot of water) I get an instant stomach ache. And lately when I eat bread (I think it’s bread causing it.) it feels like my stomach swells and it would pop if you poked it with a pin.

Bread I could give up, water… not so easy.

I guess it’s just a phase that will pass.

Have you ever heard of this?

  1. Not the water, but the bread…maybe you have some kind of stomach problem though. i would check the doctor, or google it, at the least…

  2. It’s the bread sopping up all that water lol. Seriously, gluten can cause a lot of symptoms and maybe that’s one of them. It causes arthritic pain in my fingers so I try to avoid it. Have to have pizza once in awhile though.

  3. Ditto on the gluten in the bread. Does it to me too. When I go on a gluten free diet I don’t have that problem at all. Stop eating the bread and see if it helps.

BTW, I can’t get my comments to come up on this horrid internet connection here in Ocean Pines. So I’m not ignoring your comment on my page, I just can’t enough juice to get it to open on my laptop. Thats the lower shore for ya!

Also, FYI Greg got a Redskin tag for the front of his truck. He’s a happy man now. LOL

  4. Gluten could cause it, but it might also be your stomach is too acidic. Try eating foods that are more alkaline for a couple of days to bring down the acidity. You can look it up on the net for alkaline foods. Or see if you can find out if this is from one water source you use and try another (like tap versus bottled) to see what happens.

  5. Nope never heard of anything like it before as luckily we are OK with most things. Let’s hope it is just a phase. We are not great water fans anyway as like all good Brits we drown in a never ending supply of tea. Have a terrific Thursday.
    Best wishes Molly

  6. i drink a ton of water, too. i wonder if there’s an additive or high something in your water supply that’s irritating you.

as for bread, sure hope you’re not developing a gluten sensitivity. seems lots of folks are.

  7. I never could drink water on an empty stomach. I have enough problems trying to drink it any time. So I add liquid flavoring to it. Yeah, that bread is like a sponge, retaining all that water. I can’t eat most bread…far too much sodium. I did find something I can handle though, Pepperidge Farms 100% whole wheat bread that is very thin and small. It serves its purpose for me and that’s all that matters.
