My father died about 1AM 29 July 2006.

I went to visit in early July and couldn’t find his grave. I know it’s near my brother’s grave, which I found easily, but I just couldn’t locate Dad’s.

19 years has passed very quickly. My ex-wife never met my dad, I remember we weren’t married yet, and she broke up with me the day he died, we ended up getting back together. But they both happened at the same time.

Happy Tuesday !

  1. I’m so sorry you couldn’t find his grave. I had the same problem finding my maternal grandparents’ graves, but was lucky to still have a living aunt who could write it out for me. We found the grave and were able to take pictures of the headstone. It turned out he was in an old Veterans cemetery only 20 minutes from our home.

About 20 yeas ago, Hubby and I traveled to my Dad’s tiny home town in PA and looked for my paternal grandparents’ family grave site. By contacting the local library, I was put in touch with a lady who was documenting grave sites and she helped us find the location. I remember as a child going to my grandmother’s funeral in PA and talk in the family about everyone chipping in for a gravestone. Sadly, after collections, the gravestone was never purchased. When we found the family grave site of our grandparents, we purchased a granite bench to place in the center with all of their names. Now other relatives will be able to find them if they care to do so. It was fun that the retired funeral director who knew my father and family drove out to the cemetery to meet us, too. How lovely to meet someone who knew some family members I never met.

I hope you’re able to find you dad’s grave the next time you’re close by.
