Endgame

We went and saw Avengers Endgame this weekend. One of my first thoughts almost as soon a the movie started there was a caption “Five Years Later”. I thought, i’t’s been five years, you’re over it now. Move on.” Everyone looked to be living great lives, at one with nature.

Thanos was right, losing half the population woud be a good thing for the earth. Especially if they just melted away with no disease or catastrophy.

The next thing, Thor goes back in time, sees his mom, and snags his hammer. What does the non-time-traveling Thor of the day use for a hammer?

It was a good movie, I’m not complaining.

Sunday we had my new boss and his wife over for dinner, they’re vegan. My wife enjoyed cooking a vegan meal. Yesterday, the next day, we went out and got a steak.

It was a good weekend. Did a lot of work on the roof. I’m ready to paint, now. I keep working on it and working on it. I gotta get ‘er done.

Yesterday was a holiday, so it’s a short week. Make it a good one!

Down A Hole

Yesteday at 12:22, the sun was overhead, perfectly overhead. It only happens in the tropics. Above is a picture of a hole where there was a pipe fence post. You can’t tell from the photo, but it’s about a foot deep. The black is the insides of the pipe, not a shadow. The sun is shining all the way to the bottom. You can see the shadow from my phone, I was standing normally when I took the pic. The hole really is quite deep.

It would be cooler if the photo was better, 3D or stereo or something. But still, it’s an astronomical event I look forward to twice each year.

June 21st, the sun will be overhead at the Tropic Of Cancer, then it heads back south.

Happy Saturday!

Dinner Guest

The other day we had a guest for dinner.

He was very polite and well behaved,

Although his hosts and hostesses weren’t that polite. He came by or one meal, haven’t seen him since. I named him Ghostie.

Friday! Thank God. My whole attitude and outlook upon life has changed! For the better!

Apogee Tomorrow

Tomorrow, at 12:22 PM, the sun will be exactly, perfectly overhead in Cayman. The sun would shine all the way to the bottom of a well. Telephone poles will have no shadow.

Apogee means “The furthest point. The sun physically cannot be further from the horizion.

It happens twice a year, once as the sun travels north, to the Tropic of Cancer, and again as it heads south, back to the equator and the Tropic of Capricorn.

Best day for a beach lunch!

Have a sunny day!

Catwalk

Had a good walk with Lenny this morning. We saw, and heard, lots of cats.

We saw the one above and also one that was pure black. Some cat must have had kittens not too long ago. We heard lots of meowing in the trees too.

The week is going slow. For some reason, I can’t keep track of what day it is.

I’m runnung late today, the website wanted to be updated, and it took longer than usual.

Have ye a grea day!

Where The Seeds Are

Chris asked yesterday, where the seeds were. Well, the short answer, is in the trees. Every year our Ceiba tree gets these seed pods that kind of look like bananas.

They start green then dry and turn brown and they are full of cotton fluff. When I hit them with the lawnmower, it creates an explosion of snow. A snowplosion.

In the back yard, we have a poinciana tree. They get these long seed pods that will actially stop the lawnmowers blade.

They fall as the tree loses its leaves, before it grows its orange summertime flowers.

Both trees produce plenty of mess for the yard, (Not complaning), and it makes mowing a hassle more of a hassle.

Chris also asked if Lenny misses Sheba. The short answer is yes. But the one who really misses Sheba, is Goldie.

They were best of friends. Goldie obviously misses Sheba, and doesn’t really like Lenny at all.

And yes, I’m ready for another dog. It doesn’t mean I love Sheba less, but I want another dog now. I’m afraid to bring it up with the wife so soon though.

Yesterday afternoon, at work, I thought it was Thursday for a minute. I was looking at some documents from the weekend, and thought, “These are from Sunday, why am I just getting them now?” Then I realized it wasn’t Thursday, it was Monday. That’s a sign of a baaaaaad Monday!

But now, it’s Tuesday, and the week is 20% done. I’ve noticed that the first five days after the weekend are the worst, then it’s not so bad!

Have a great day!

Am Onday

Lenny walks.

It’s Monday.A week ago was my first day back at work after vacation. A week ago was the last time I took Sheba for a morning walk. Seems like ages ago.

I’m looking forward to keeping busy this week, getting lots done, beach lunchtime every day.

The weekend was nice, We took Lenny to the beach and did yard work. My wife did a lot of yardwork, I did a little. She planted a lot of plants and used several bags of dirt and many flowerpots and I picked up these giant seeda that fall out of our trees.

I still need to paint the roof. Soon come!

New Favorite Coffee

I brought back some coffee from Costa Rica. It is super-good! I’m going to declare it my new favorite coffee. I poured the coffee in my coffee container, but couldn’t bear to throw the bag away without taking a picture, in case I forgot the name of the coffee.

Friday afternoon was the end of the workweek. I’m going to also declare it as the end of the week period. Today, Saturday, starts a new week. Last week was a tough week. Losing Sheba practically erased the memory, or feeling, or sensation of having just gone to Costa Rica.

This coffee helps revive the trip..

Not Expected To Make It

I seem to be the only one who has hope for Sheba. All the vets sound negative, and my wife agrees with them. They changed medications yesterday, and they do blood tests every 36-48 hours. I say wait till after the next blood tests to see if there’s improvement.

Also the vets did an ultrasound and found a large mass on her liver. (maybe kidney, I’m not sure) that they think is the cause of her problems.

She’s too weak to operate on, or even test the mass. I think they would have put her to sleep already if it wasn’t for me.

If the new meds help, there still may be hope, if it doesn’t, today may be Sheba’s last day.

Very Sick Sheba

I went and saw Sheba at the hospital yesterday. She looked miserable. She has an IV drip, and a cone so she can’t fuss with it. She’s on pain meds, so hopefully she doesn’t feel as bad as she looks. The doctors think it’s her pacreas right now.

I told her I’d go visit her every day. Today I’m taking her some deli chicken chunks! The wife says she’s going to go visit her too.

Havva happy humpday!
