Hot Date

Last night this hot babe took me out on a hot date! We went and saw the newest Harry Potter Movie. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1. It was pretty good, it’s just the first half of (I think) the last book.
I was looking for a picture to post and discovered that you can get the book with a ‘Less Childish looking’ adult cover. I didn’t consider the movie to be for children, there’s scary parts, like a big snake, and lots of big-time ugly monsters.
Tonight’s another hot date night, hot dogs on the grill!

Yellow Bird

We have two bowls of water for birds. We get a lot of birds throughout the day, mostly teeny tiny ones, but a few pretty big ones. There was one in particular, that was almost pure yellow. He or she would come when I didn’t have my camera. Well, yesterday I got the shot! This bird is barely bigger than your thumb!

Three Birds at once

Underwater Wreck

At a very popular snorkel spot called Cemetary Beach on Seven Mile Beach, there evidently was a large boat wreck a long time ago. These are pics of stuff on the bottom there.

A gearshaft in the lower center, and a big wheel in the upper left. Boat engine parts.
I don’t know what this is, a piston rod from a really big piston? My Navy ship had a big wrench bolted to the side on the outside, used in the drydock to take the propellers off. This doesn’t look like a wrench though.
A V-6 Engine block (This probably was dumped on purpose as somebody’s mooring anchor)

Sleepy Saturday

I have said a million times on this blog, I am a poor sleeper. Last night was a big one. I woke up at midnight, and it was almost Four AM before I lost track of time again. Maybe I’m not a poor sleeper, maybe I just don’t need much sleep.
Today The Wife is going to a flea market with the sis in law and her Mom, and I am going to study and mow the lawn.
That’s the plan now, plans change, I offer no warranty or guarantee that I will mow or study or either.

Friday

It’s Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. I think it’s a big shopping day in the US. Some of my Facebook friends are getting up at about 4AM to go shopping.

I have an amp to repair today, Hopefully I can fix it. Should be simple enough, one speaker doesn’t work. Parts availability is the question. Hopefully I’ll find a broken wire and won’t need parts.
Dinner last night was pretty good. I rekkon there were a hundred people there. It was outdoors at some condos on Seven Mile Beach. I came home pretty full, and went to bed about 9:30, woke up at midnight till 2 and then back to sleep till 6 or so.

Now I’m getting coffeed up.

Have a good weekend.

American Thanksgiving

Today is American Thanksgiving. From a big feast the Indians and Pilgrims had. In the USA. Tonight my friend, who is also American, is having a big Thanksgiving dinner and that’s where we’ll be.

In Canada Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October. Canadians give thanks for a successful harvest. The origins and reasons for American Thanksgiving are disputed, but I remember in grade school, learning that the Pilgrims didn’t bring any plows, shovels or building or farming equipment, and the Indians helped them and taught them how to survive. That being said, I always wondered why Thanksgiving wasn’t in the spring, after you’ve survived the winter, instead of November, when the worst weather is yet to come.

Other countries that celebrate Thanksgiving are:

The Netherlands.
Grenada
Liberia
Norfolk Island (Australian Territory)

It’s a good idea for me to be Thankful, and pick out the good things in my life. I have a really good life, but I tend to focus on the problems, not on what is good. I believe life is about continuous problem solving, but one should never focus entirely on the problems or forget the good things.

New Blog to check out

My Wife started a new blog: A Photo A Day. Click the pic to check it out. Don’t worry, she’s still keeping her original blog too.

Click the pic to be magically transported to my Wife’s new blog!
(But then come back to read the rest of my post)

Sols New Blog

I started this blog because I didn’t know what blogs were, and I needed to start an account to view them, or so I thought. SO when they asked for a title, I put “First Time”, because I thought my first blog would be a temporary, experimental blog, and when I got it figured out, I’d start a REAL blog. Now it’s been over five years, and I guess I haven’t got it figured out yet, because here I am. Still, someday maybe I’ll start a REAL Blog!

Last night we had the Bro and Sis in law, her Mom, and his friend over for dinner. It was real nice. We bought a whole tenderloin and I cooked it on the grill. I’ve come to the conclusion that my meat thermometer is about 20 degrees off, because it was saying medium, and the beef was still pretty rare. Other than having to take everything and put it back on the grill, the evening was perfect.

I had a cool dream last night. I was driving a marble through a well lit modern city. I say I was driving a marble, because I was on top of this rolling thing, my feet sticking out in front of me, and I don’t know how I was steering or anything. Kind of like sitting up in a dentists chair. I was looking for Viking Drive. I know I was close, because I recognized everything, (in the dream, not as a real place). I asked this couple in an office. (I think the guy was my new boss, who I just met, and the woman was Miss Jillian, my friends wife) They were very vague. Finally I asked Miss Jillian, very specifically, “If I go up the road to the main street, do I turn left or right to get to Viking Drive?” And she looked at me like she didn’t understand the question or wouldn’t tell me.
Also, it was like I needed stronger glasses, because I couldn’t read any street signs, although all the city lights and everything else seemed very clear. That’s why I couldn’t find Viking Drive by myself.
It was a nice dream, it was fun driving the “vehicle”, the city was very cool, and the colors and lights were very vivid.

A movie called RED

We rented this DVD and I watched it twice. (The Wife watched parts of it twice). It is a great movie about a bunch of retired spies who get put on a hit list so they have to fight back.

RED stands for Retired, Extremely Dangerous. It is a good mix of action and comedy, with a decent plot. I recommend it for you to watch.

Sunday Dive photos

A few photos from yesterday. America Airlines lost my underwater camera, so I’m using my ancient 2.1 megapixel camera. It’s the very same underwater camera Adam and Eve had in the Garden of Eden.

Going Diving

We’re up early, we’re going diving at East End.
We haven’t been in a long time. Like two months.
I haven’t had my rebreather in the water since May. We’re diving open circuit again today.
I haven’t been out in my Kayak in forever either.
Actually my Wife set up the trip with a friend of hers from Costa Rica. I’m not sure I feel like going. I am in a VILE mood.
