Apps To Never Update

It really bugs me when updates to your favorite app ruins it. On my device(s), I have a “Never Update” list, because the update ruins the app.

On top there is ES File Explorer. It’s similar to “My Computer” on Windows. But it has/had other features. Like the ability to back up an app and save it as an APK file on your drive. This feature is the main reason the apps ruined by updates aren’t uninstalled. If I hate the update, I can install the old version from my backup.
The  latest version of ES File Explorer take this feature out of the app. Degraded the app considerably.

Spite and Malice is a card game I really enjoy, the newer version, year or two ago, added all these fancy graphics and perfume and glitter that I didn’t like. This was before ES backup was available, so I emailed the Spite and Malice developer complaining and was emailed the old version. That was very nice. I am a truly loyal fan because of that.

UC Browser  isn’t that great. Memory warnings come up when you use it for a while, Their newest update wants to add “identity” to the permissions, that seems to be the purpose of the update.. My answer is “Why?” UC Browser was on my boycott list for years after an update put what I thought was spyware links on my machine. I was using Dolphin Browser for a long time. I’m thinking about switching back.

That’s about it for today. It’s already Friday in New Zealand!

new office

Yesterday I moved into a private office, instead of a cubicle. Its really not a big deal, just a little bit nice.
No merit on my part, one guy moved out, and I jumped on the opportunity.

I seem to be going through a difficult patch right now. It’s hard to post on my blog.

Happy Birthday To My Wife!

Today is my Wife’s Birthday. I won’t tell you how old she is. We had a party for her Saturday night, well , she had a party. I was working. She did all the work cleaning the house and getting the beverages and whatnot. But today’s her birthday. She loves her birthday! I hope to make it as special for her as I can.

It’s Monday. blah. I was up till midnight and got up at 5. I had a sound job this weekend and was editing and uploading the audio till late. When I woke up and looked at the computer, the final file had finished uploading 7 minutes ago.

Have a good week!

Cold Cold Cold

It is cold this morning, the cold front that went thru the Florida Keys is crossing here now. Hear me whine!

Yesterday was a holiday here, ash Wednesday. It was good having the day off but my head thinks it’s Monday instead of Thursday. My head will be in for a nice surprise tomorrow!

I am going through another phase where I want to do audio posts…..

Nice Dreams

I dreamed that the tide went down about 100 feet, My dog, Ditto and I went up to what normally is the dropoff, and looked down into the water. We could see the water level coming back up and turned and ran as our feet got wet. We were running across the sand flats, which are normally 60 feet under water, as the small waves from the rising tide chased us.

I was running and laughing and I looked down at Ditto, running beside me and I could tell he was as happy as any dog could be. Tongue out trailing alongside his face, ears blowing in the wind, eyes sparkling as he looked back at me.

It was a wonderful dream, Happy and fun.

I wish Ditto could stay young. Nowadays, he mostly sleeps or paces the floor. We’re pretty sure he’s deaf, not sure he can see, and pretty certain he’s senile and doesn’t know where he  is a lot of the time.

It’s not fair.

Got the new Kindle going, upgraded and loaded with my books. It’s just like my old Kindle now, except with  a better keyboard and 2 gig instead of 4 gig, and no WiFi….

Have a good day!!!!!

This weekend, after The Wife went to sleep, I watched a movie called 9

About a rag doll robot in a time after humans were destroyed by the machines they  created.

It is definitely worth watching.

The Wife is still sick, so we spent a lot of time watching TV.

Have a great week!

World Radio Day

World Radio Day marks the anniversary of the first broadcast by UN Radio Feb 13, 1946, when it transmitted its first call sign: “This is the United Nations calling the peoples of the world.”

Happy World Radio Day!

Happy Friday the 13th!
Happy Weekend!

New (used) Kindle 2

I got the new Kindle yesterday. It’s a Kindle 2 and my old one was a Kindle 3. It is a little larger and  has a different software version. I’m both a little disappointed and also glad to have my reader back.

Kindle 2

Kindle 3

Also, the new one is 2 Gig instead of 4 gig, and my books fill it almost all the way up.

I’m trying to figure out how to do a firmware upgrade..

Have a good day!
