Turn Off Upcoming Alarm?

Most mornings, I notice my watch buzz inappropriately. This morning i discovered it was my phone asking me if I wanted to turn off the upcoming alarm! Is it just me, or is that a moronic question to ask? Waking me up to tell me i have to wake up in half an hour, do I want to turn off the alarm? The answer is not only no, but hell no! And furthermore, If i wanted to be awakened a half hour earlier than the time for which I set the alarm, I would have set the alarm for a half hour earlier!

Needless to say, today I will figure out how to turn off this rediculous notification.

Sheesh.

Happy Thursday!

Best Abs App

Above is the best abs workout app I’ve found so far. Yeah, it has a girl in the picture but it’s not for girls only. This app is better and stands out because, through the counting and beeps, it doesn’t let you cheat.

For quite a long time (years) I’ve been doing morning exercises., i search for and download a good workout app, run through it start to finish, uninstall and repeat. This one is the best ever so far.

You WILL get sore, you WILL cuss at the app.

Have a great day!

Windows Updates vs Android Updates

My Android had an update available this morning, i installed it without fear or hesitation. It installed flawlessly while I was in the shower. I haven’t checked for new features, but I’m using it now and so far everything works ok. As always.

Not so with Windows updates. Practically everyone i know has automatic updates turned off on Windows. When an update is available, it is usually avoided, at best researched and verified bad bits rejected. If you choose to install, it is a gruelingly long, interactive process . And then you almost immediately find problems with your machine.

I have had a Windows boycott for many years, and it’s nice. I have windows at work, unavoidably, Also i have the laptop at home that i use mostly for external hard drives. When I turn on my windows laptop to move files from a flash drive to a hard drive. It’s a nuisance getting to the OS to do the job, like “Let’s finish setting up your email”. Let’s not.

On my laptop,it takes 20 minutes to get to the screen to do a 60 second job. Windows at work, Microsofts arrogance still continues to amaze me. They think I know what I want better than I do.

I’m sticking with Android all I can!

Ulifone – So Far

Instantly I was disappointed with the Ulifone that I got yesterday. The specs said a 6.1inch screen. My tape measure says 6 and 7/8ths. It is barely smaller than my old phone. My prime object was to get a smaller phone. But I’ve had it barely more than 12hours, so I’m giving it more of a chance.

This is my first post on my new phone, BTW.

I’m feeling calm, cool and collected this morning. I think it’s going to be a good day!

Goldeneye

Super top secret agent and international spy Goldeneye, here disguised as a frog.

I took this last night. Pretty amazing gold frog and gold eyes.

I also discovered some rotten wood in my eaves last night. I was chasing ants. I think I can fix the eave, the ants I might need some help with, they’re everywhere. They eat potted plants from the roots up. They’re in the bathroom, they’re on the roof. In the yard. Everywhere, all sizes. Big and small and microscopic almost.

I wish the frog would eat all the ants.

Have a Happy Hump Day.

Experimenting With Weather Apps

I currently have three weather apps on my Nexus 7, 1Weather, Accuweather, and Intellicast. Weatherbug was in the running, but has been eliminated because the widget consistently quits working.

image

I like Intellicast quite a bit, but it wants to search for your location every time instead of just loading your default location. I’d like it if you could change the default view instead of it opening to the map every time. Difficult to navigate. But it is definitely the coolest weather app I’ve found.

1Weather boasts that they’re #1in the world, but I don’t know who says that, probably just 1Weather. Simple and plain (plain meaning ugly), easy to navigate. However right now it says sunny and it’s raining.

Accuweather is ok, something bugs me about it that I can’t quite put my finger on. I’m going to say it’s probably the best overall, good display and good widget. But it’s not the one I like best.

I would love to be made aware of whichever weather app you use and your thoughts on it.

Work today, don’t wanna go. Have a good one!

Going Microsoft Free

image

I am toying with the idea of eliminating Windows and Microsoft from my daily life.  I think t can do it too.
I have the new Android tablet and have been not using my laptop much at all since I got it.
It’s really no big deal, Mac users are around that probably seldom or never use Microsoft or Windows.
Microsoft has gotten a lot of money from me over the years. I have registered versions of Windows 3.1, ’98, 2000, XP, ME, and Vista. Not to mention the versions of Microsoft office. They keep making new versions, not compatible with the previous versions. Which sucks for the user, but made Bill Gates the richest dude o the planet.
The only problem is downloading the pics off my camera, which I’m working around.
Anyway, I’m running late today and gotta git goin’!

Thursday Ramble.

I ended up going for the Nexus 7 with the Sharkk keyboard. I figured there’s nothing yet to replace my laptop, but I can replace my Kindle and use my laptop less. I ordered them on Amazon and should get them next week.

The first tropical storm has formed, Andrea. Here we go. Andrea came from the system that gave us that rain last week.

I guess I’ll be mowing the yard this weekend., but the grass is gone, all that’s left are the weeds. Starting over….

Have a good Thursday!
