How ‘Bout Them Commies?

I couldn’t watch the game, and was glad I wasn’t able to! Although I guess that since Washington has no Indian reference, the rivalry between cowboys and Indians is gone. So now they’re just friendly football pals.

Happy Friday !

Bizzy Weekend

it was a busy,.full weekend. Friday I had a dinner that was very nice. Saturday was quite typical but I bought a new weed whacker to tame the yard enough to mow. It was a real jungle. Yesterday and a beach yoga morning followed by breakfast. Then I finished up the yardwork. Also I found some water damage 8n that apartment that I started to repair. I leak by the sliding glass door caused a couple pieces of rotten baseboard. I patched the leak (hopefully) and need to finish the baseboard. (Had a helluva time cutting the 45⁰ angles for a corner.) I have a tenant moving in tomorrow so I need to get this expedited today!

Last night I went out to a nice dinner.

And my American Football team lost. In overtime. Away.

And it’s a regular workday today.

Ciao! Have a great week!

A New Team, Stay, Or None

I was born in Washington DC. I’ve been a Redskins fan through everything, winning, losing, good times and bad. I even liked the in-your-face name WFT. But I can’t handle the name, Commanders.

Several years ago, the NFL and the Game Pass app screwed me over. I paid and couldn’t get the games. Zero service from the NFL, zero response to get it working.Thank gawd for American Express. I would have never gotten my money back if it weren’t for them.

I haven’t been watching games for several years now, just checking the score of my team. But, I just can’t stand to look and see that C word.

My choices are to get a new team, or quit caring about the whole thing.

Is the franchise ruined? What do you think?

happy day to you

Not According To Plan

It was a cold and windy weekend. It still is cold and very windy.

I’m getting ready to get the house painted, and I planned to spend Saturday on moving a large amount of tile and cinder blocks that were next to the house.. Well, I went for breakfast first with friends and had a flat tire and it pretty much took 3/4ths of the day to get that sorted out. So I ended up moving the material on Sunday, and I got it done Now I can start worrying about the money needed to paint he house..

I still am not supposed to scuba dive because of my tooth and bone graft. Next weekend oughta be OK.

On a positive note, I went out and had a solo dinner and watched Cincinnati win. Very pleasing. I grew up in Missouri, but as a boy, I saw the Bengals practice in Wilmington Ohio, where my Mom is from. Plus, in Missouri, most people were Cardinals fans and switched to KC when the Cards fled to Arizona.

it was the first NFL game I have seen in probably 2 or 3 years.

And now it’s back to work…. 🙁

Have a good week!!!

Fitbit

My wife got me a Fitbit Charge, she’s had one a while and likes it. I expressed an interest and she surprised me!

It seems pretty cool. It’s fun entering all the info from the food you eat, keeping track of everything. I especially like the  bar code scanner.

It measures your activity during the day, and how you sleep at night.

I wear it in the shower, but not in the sea, not sure how waterproof it is.. I’ll find out, but I’m pretty sure you can’t take it diving.

Superbowl was yesterday. Both teams sucked. Denver had no third down conversions but won it. Carolina didn’t play well at all either.

It’s Monday, I’m tired and crabby. It’s cold and wwindy outside…Good day for working, if there ever was

Have a wonderful week!

Assumptions, Expectations and Attitude

When I was a kid, I didn’t completely understand the rules of American football. I got on the football team, hoping to learn the rules more than actually play football, but everyone seemed to know them (but me). They were never taught, and out of shame, I never asked. I sucked on my high school football team, msstly because I never knew what I was doing. To this day, I am still aware of rules I don’t know in American Football.

Not so many years later, I had been a lifeguard at a swimming pool for a couple of years. I took a pool managers course to learn about taking care of the pool itself. I think it was in the evenings at a local college. In the course, everyone (except me, apparently) already was a pool manager. They discussed flushing the filters, adding the chemicals. Everyone in the class was much older than me and already knew what I came to learn. In the class, we never flushed a filter, or even went to a pool! I never knew precisely what anyone was talking about, didn’t understand the terminology, and again, kept my mouth shut, because I didn’t want to be the sole idiot. I flunked the test, and was so angry, I wrote a scathing letter.

Both times, I didn’t know what was going on, I couldn’t see it until it was over, and I looked back with 20/20 hindsight. Both still cause me anger and resentment and shame today.

I don’t really know the point of this post. Something happened recently that reminded me of it, but now I can’t remember what that was.

I guess my point is, when in doubt, speak up.

Plain Ol’ Americans

Cam Newton, quarterback for the American football team the Carolina Panthers, says he’s an African American quarterback, and that people are afraid of him. Funny, I didn’t know he was born in Africa, migrated to the US and became an American citizen. In my life, I have knowingly only met one African American. He was born in Zimbabwe, moved to the US, got a green card, nd later got full citizenship. And he’s a white guy. Sorry Cam, you’re just a plain ‘ol American, just like most Americans. And you’re a great quarterback, hope your team wins the Super Bowl!

It’s been my observation, that many Caribbean black people think it’s funny that American black people want to be called African Americans, because it’s not true. African Americans moved from Africa and became citizens, and it has nothing to do with skin color.

Yesterday, I rode the scooter for the first time in about two weeks. The weather forecast had predicted rain every day till yesterday. Tonight, it’s supposed to start raining again, and rain all weekend. I hope I can make it home again this afternoon before it starts raining. The scooter was super hard to start yesterday, I was ready to give up when it finally came to life.

Have a great day!
