Construction Beginning

Today, instead of running or swimming or walking the dogs, I started removing stuff from under the house. Stuff like kayaks, wheelbarrows, big wooden tables, garden hoses, chicken coops.

The construction of the game room starts today. estimated time for completion: 12 weeks

Hope it goes without any big problems.

Have a good weekend!

New Running Shoes

My favorite pair of running shoes has died.

They have been glued back together a whole buncha times. I’ve had them sine October 2013. (I can tell by searching this blog) I remember, I didn’t really like them at the store, but my wife convinced me to get them. I grew to love them very much. When thry first broke, I ordered another pair. My “dress pair”. When my wife went to the USA some years ago, I had her pick up a third pair. Every time the originals broke, I thought I was going to throw them away, but I kept fixing them.

Finally, the other day, I did throw them away. But I have two good pairs still

And there’s a pair in my Amazon shopping basket

It’s almost the weekend!

Flamingos Tongues

Below is a video I took the other day of some Flamingos Tongues. They live on fan coral, usually.

I lifted my head out of the water to mark my position and I couldn’t find them again. I’ll keep looking!

Have a great day!

Moonlit Palm Trees

On my morning walk, the full moon setting. I decided to take some romantical pictures.

Actually, for some reason, the full moon seems cooler when it’s setting than when it’s coming up, I don’t know why. The camera can’t capture it. And it wasn’t actually setting, just getting low on the horizon. I don’t think I’ve ever actually see the moon set, like the sunset.

Last night I didn’t sleep well. I woke up at 1:15 AM, I was awake till at least 3:20 AM. I got up, walked around, played some games on my phone. I feel allright now, we’ll see how the day progresses..

Have a great day!

Welcome to The Family

Friday, I received the robot in the picture above from Chris, in New Zealand.

He’s been added to “The Family” of stuffed creatures, mostly made by my wife. I’m thinking of naming him Aanowd. Like Aanowd Schwartzenegger, the Terminator Robot.

Thank you Chris! Very much! He will be forever loved!

It was a good weekend. I did some yard work, and took it easy a lot. And I went for a walk and found $25 on the road!

Have a great week!

$50 Windshield Wipers

The other week I decided to get new windshield wipers for the van. I went to the auto parts store and they had two kinds, $23 and $4. The $23 ones came in a biggish blue and yellow box, and the $4 ones came in a little red bag. The $4 ones only had one wiper in it. The $23 ones, since it was an oversized box, and $23, I assumed there were two.

I notice the $23 ones were the same brand as my old wipers, so I figured, “what the heck, I’ll spring for the good ones.”

So I shelled out the $23 ($23.99) for the good ones. I go out to install them. “OOOoooo! fancy! Wait, there’s only one in the box? OOOOooo! Shiny! OOoooo! It has a little blade protector!”

So I go back in and buy another one.

As I’m driving away, I realize that the second one rang up $24.99 instead of $23.99.

And that’s the story of how I got $50 windshield wipers.

And you know what? They’re not that great, streaky. The $4 ones probably would have been better.

In other news, IT’S FRIDAY! And I got a package from New Zealand that I’m picking up today! I wonder who could have sent me something from New Zealand?

Have a great weekend!

back ta work

I’m back to work after a sick day yesterday. Throat’s still a little weird, but better. Actually, I could take another sick day…

Mostly yesterday, I lounged around and watched Orange Is The New Black. I’m sad to wreck my perfect “No sick days used” record, but I needed the rest though.

So now it’s back to work, catch up day.

Have a thriving Thursday!

Sick Day #1

I’m taking a sick day today. I have a sore throat. It feels like there’s a can opener lodged there. The pointy end.

This is my first sick day this year.

The pointy end is in my throat, causing a sore throat.

Funny how people visualize what a sore throat looks like, or imagine the object that is causing their pain.

Yesterday, I had to re-prop one of my banana plants that originally fell over in the windstorm. It re-fell over so I had to re-prop it. I had to make more banana props because of the massive falling-over. Usually just the plant with bananas needs propping and I had a nice prop made from PVC tube. But I made the emergency props out of wood, and they seem to be much better. I thought the PVC was good, because it was flexible and looked cool, curvingly holding up the banana plants. But the rigid wood seems more basic, less high tech, stout simple and strong.

Cloudy here today. I’ll be napping.

Have a restful day.

Mini Windstorm

It was quite a busy weekend. Friday night/ Saturday morning, we had a little mini hurricane in our yard. It knocked over a little tree in our front yard, broke off biggish tree branches, none on which hurt anything. Knocked over four of my banana plants, two of which had bananas. They should be OK, as they seemed undamaged (except for being uprooted) and I built props and propped them back up. Also the ministorm kinda wrecked the privacy screens on the porch railings upstairs. And flinged the outdoor furniture around. Below is a pre dawn video I took.

So, on Saturday, I cleaned up the yard, and went with the wife to pick up an orchid she won in a raffle, at the Botanic Park, stopped by another ladys house to drop off and pick up some other plants, had lunch at Casa 43, did some grocery shopping.

Sunday I cleaned up the back porch and last night went to see the Roger Waters. The music was good, no musicians recognizable except Roger Waters himself. And to me, during the second half, he was hatemongering with a heavy political agenda. It made me wonder where David Gilmoure and the rest of the Pink Floyd crew were that Roger Waters had to go it alone with to me, seemed like a bunch of rental musicians. I’ll have to do more research today.

And now it’s time for work and dropping the kids off at Dawgie Day Care. Have a good week!

USA Taco Day

Today, in a nation called the United States, it is their nations taco day.

Unfortunately if you are from a nation other than the USA, it is not your nations taco day and you should be sad, very sad.

However, you may eat tacos today, whatever nation you are from, and that will make you feel good!

Also note that Mexico Día del Taco is celebrated on March 31. Southern Mexico is where the best tacos are.

Have a great week-end!
