i went back and looked at that Suzuki again. I’m pretty interested. The drawback is that it doesn’t have the electronics package, (Smart play Pro +), and a dent on the front bumper.
This is the third Jimny I’ve looked at, and you know what they say, Third Time’s The Charm!
There’s a blue one I’m going to go look at today. BlIt has the electronics, but it has a smaller engine.. it’s not going to work with a smaller engine.
I went and looked at another Suzuki Jimny yesterday. This one didn’t have a lot of the electronic options like the first two did. And it was a 2022, being sold by an individual, instead of someone who’s just trying to make money importing vehicles and increasing the price..
in the bedroom, I have a clock with big red numbers. When I wake up I look what time it is. When I was visiting the US, the spare bedroom at my mother’s house didn’t have any clock in it. Without my glasses, I cannot see my watch. It was interesting sleeping with no clock, waking up wondering what time it was, but being too lazy to go look I’m picking up my phone, or putting on my glasses.
this reminds me of an article I may or may not have read a long time ago about counting down, and calculating how much time I have left to sleep. For example, wake up, look at the clock, and say “oh goody four more hours before I have to get up!” Or looking at the clock saying “oh crap, the alarm is going to go off in 5 minutes.”
I considered buying a clock to leave in that bedroom, but decided to observe the phenomenon of sleeping without a clock. I don’t really have an opinion either way. I find that I got up at about the same time with or without the clock in the room or knowing what time it was.
Another thing I did, was to calculate the time difference back home. For example when it’s 7:00 I say oh it’s only six back home. This may or may not be beneficial.
Anyway, this is kind of a pointless post today just something on my mind. Rambling.
Im home! I got back before 11:30 yesterday, went for a swim, quick stop at the grocery store and home about 1PM. Selfie below of my first stop after leaving the airport.
Im at Washington National Airport, headed home. Had a problem returning the car. Took the rental car return exit at the airport. The returnanes we’re all blocked off. The exit had a vehicle blocking it and nobody was there
I found a car.cleaner guy and he started calling around trying to find the gate guard..People were accumulating to return their cars. Finally we got out and went to a different rental car return place. It was stressful.
Now.Im at GATE B-17, waiting to board.
And now, several minutes later, I’m on the plane..
Saw this last night. Worth seeing in the theater. Very good movie. 36 years since the first one.
I’m not going to spoil it for you. If you’ve seen it, leave.me.a comment.
Yesterday I had lunch with Brad N Deb, my navy friends.. After boot camp,.Brad came back.to Maryland (he’s from Rockville, I was from Somver Spring) and we drove. my car to Great Lakes.
Two years later, I got orders to Mare Island and was pulling into town,.stopped at.a red.light, when Brad jumped into my passenger seat. He and Deb were in their behind me and recognized.the.car. It was a million in one shot.
The weekend is here, I’m headed back to Cayman on Monday morning early. My next post might not be till Tuesday!
Yesterday I had lunch with high school friends. It was Great to see them and they’re really doing well, retired, busy with parents, kids and grandkids.
It was a beautiful drive up to Mount Airy, Maryland too.
It was also good to get the rundown.on the old high school gang, scattered across the country.
Very gripping read. Surprise, open ending. This book put the word dystopian into my vocabulary. Oddly enough, when I was about half way through the book, I took an Uber ride with a driver from Afghanistan. His description of the way women are treated there closely matched the way they are treated in this book. The similarity was uncanny. Like we were discussing this book or the book was about the plight of Afghan women. The open ended ending sets you up for the next book.
Today is lunch with some high school friends, tomorrow, lunch with an old Navy friend of mine.
Yesterday I went to a pool party with one of my world’s favorite people, Julia, who I met in Cayman many many years ago.
Yesterday was the closing date for most of the pools in the USA, Labor Day, therefore as per 20+ year old tradition, all the women “of a certain age” jump in the pool at the same time, and they danced to some music (in the deep end) and there was singing too. Believe it or not, the song was the Hokey Pokey. Remember, this solemn, ancient tradition.
it was fun, there was lots of food and I swam, the water was very.pleasant, not too cold at all. Ice cream was on sale, 4 for the price of 1.
I arrived in the US late Friday night.. Atlanta didn’t have the SIM card the store advertised for my mobile hotspot and internet access was a problem. I got the data plan sim card I wanted finally at a Target.
I’ve been hanging out with my mother mostly so far, today I start seeing friends and getting out
Below, my view from my current coffee drinking position.
I got a rental car yesterday
A jeep with all the bells and whistles. I really like it.
Today I’m supposed to be going to a pool party but it seems a little chilly for that to me…
