Boxing Back To Work

after the weekend, after christmas, and after boxing day, it’s time to head back to work. At the beginning of this holiday, it seemed like it was going to be such a long holiday. In hindsight looking back it was so short..

I rebuilt my outdoor workbench, but need more lumber and paint. I painted it with concrete sealer as an undercoat. (I always wanted to do that!) And now I have to paint it pretty.

I’m glad it’s Wednesday, ’cause it sure feels like a Monday. Blah

have a great week!

The Shortest Day

December 21, the winter solstice, shortest day of the year. First day of winter. Only in the northern hemisphere though.

After 10:27 local time, the sun begins it’s journey back north, away from the tropic of Capricorn on its way to the tropic of Cancer.

First day of winter in the northern hemisphere, first day of summer in the southern hemisphere.

Here it’s cold, low 70’s. Windy. I can hear wind howling across the front of the house right now.

I’ve been enjoying the darkness of the mornings this year I feel more like I own the time than I did in the daylight warnings of Summer.

Have a wonderful day!

Morning Brain Reset

I’m not sure I recognize the symptoms of being tired. Sure, I recognize sleepiness, but tiredness, and the symptoms like crabbiness and brain malfunction (having to reread something two or three times to get the message for example), I don’t attribute to you being tired. I think more along the lines that it’s the end of the world.

I don’t really think it’s the end of the world, but I don’t consider that it’s a temporary condition cured by a night of good relaxing sleep. At which I am, as you know, an expert.. Ha!

Even if I’m not a good sleeper, my brain seems to reset overnight and I feel better in the morning once I get up and get going.

that’s my sleep talk for today, happy hump day!

top quarter

Apparently I’m in the top quarter of the readers on Goodreads. My longest book was 599 pages and the shortest was 43. Average was 284.

The main thing I notice is that good books are easier to read than books I don’t particularly enjoy. A longer good book can be read faster than a shorter crappy book. I’ll never be able to read all the books I want to read in my lifetime, there’s so many..

2024 is just around the corner!

Have a wonderful day!

A Monday Again

it was a good weekend Has the work Xmas party, some yard work (I have a severe weed problem I need to do something about) I also finished modifying my new roof drain strainer and it’s installed.

I cut the notches in the bottom , otherwise the water would have to get about a half inch deep before it started draining.

Tonight is the Veterans Xmas party. I’m looking forward to that quite a bit. I want to buy new shoes today.

Have a wonderful week!

21%

COP28, a big meeting discussing and commiting to action to reduce emission of greenhouse gases that cause global warming just finished.

Im no expert on global warming but don’t deny that humans contribute or actually caused it, but I think that there’s another thing, vastly more important to watch.

The air we breathe is approximately 78 percent nitrogen and 21 percent oxygen. Those numbers haven’t changed, no matter how much carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide and crap we produce or what we burn and stuff we do on this planet.

Science doesn’t know or understand how these numbers remain so constant, the 21% and the 79%. But I think if we see these numbers change, you will see a rapid change in this planet.

Maybe global warming is caused by the Milky Way drifting towards some gigantic heat source. This planet has had ice ages, and whatever the opposite of an ice age is, before.

The planet will be fine, we humans are going to kill ourselves.

Taco Tuesday Tasteless Buds

Yesterday me and the boys from work went to Taco Tuesday at a local restaurant. I asked for hot sauce. Their hottest sauce, to me barely had any heat. I remember hot sauce and horseradish that would clear your sinuses and make it so you could feel your hair growing.

Not anymore. I can’t find any hot hot sauce. Prepared Horseradish no longer sends the explosive fumes up through my skull. No more insta-sweats, red face or elevated heart rate. No more near drownings, guzzling water after a hot bite.

I live in a bleak, coolsauce world.

I wonder, do my taste buds wear out like my ears and eyes as I get older? I’m trying to grow some horseradish, maybe I’ll add peppers and delve into some high heat experiments.

everything else seems to taste normal, it seems that only the hot is gone from the hot sauce. Is it me, or have you noticed it too? Tell me I’m not crazy!

Have a great day!
