Happy October

image

Hard to believe it’s October already. When I was a kid, it seemed like the first half of the year went faster than the second, now it all goes fast. I remember when I turned 40, I thought “This is about half way through my  life.” Let me tell you, the second half is going a lot faster than the first. Turning 40 seem like about 5 minutes ago.

I guess most of the people who read this know I don’t drink, a big part of my not drinking is daily prayer. I pray for help staying sober, and freedom from anger, depression and self-pity, among other things. I really don’t hear much back  from God, I haven’t drank for almost 25 years, so that’s good, but this morning I got angry about 2 seconds after my prayer. As soon as I get up, the cat starts meowing. She’s staying in this giant kennel at night and when we’re gone, till she gets used to the place. We don’t want her running away. So, as agreed, I put the  cat in the bedroom, with my wife, and close the door, as discussed. Well, my  wife gets up, and closes the door better because the cat got out. She said “the cat got out”. No harm no malice, but it took it to mean “You didn’t do a good enough job putting the cat in the bedroom.” So I prayed again: “Ya know God, a little feedback would be nice. I got angry two seconds after I prayed for freedom of anger. A normal person would quit praying. I pray every day and don’t hear anything back. Maybe you have some divine way of operating or sending me a message, but if you send messages I can’t understand, what good is it? I gave up swimming after work because I need to come home and take care of the animals,I gave up studying in the mornings because I need to take care of animals. Do I need to give up my morning exercises too, to take care of animals more? WTF?”

My poor old Ditto is gone, maybe I can start swimming after work again.

That’s how I’m doing this morning.

Ashy the new cat is here! She’s a real cutie! So far things are going well.
Ashy and Sheba are giving each other their space. Sheba is more eager to be friends than Ashy.

Weird thing happened this weekend. Saturday morning I went to feed our outdoor cats and their bowls were gone. Usually I stack them up and put two scuba weights in them. We found them later, and the weights near the fence, like something dragged the bowls and weights to the fence and couldn’t get them under.
Freeky deeky!

New Cat Friday

This week was NOT fast like the previous two. I’ll be glad to get home tonight after work.

We’re getting a new cat tonight, an indoor cat. The lady is bringing her over tonight and we’ll see how she (the cat) gets on with the dogs. We’ve set up a kennel for the cat to spend her days in, and hopefully she won’t jump off the balcony.

The Wife has already named the cat Ashy. She’s been looking for a grey cat for along, coming to the conclusion that there were none on the island, when Ashy shows up at the Ritz.

So we’ll see how it goes.

Have a good weekend!

A Cat Drinking Water

I tried to post from my phone, but WordPress isn’t set up on it yet, so I emailed this photo to my tablet and I’m posting it here. The Wife has found a new cat she wants, an indoor cat. We’ll get her if we can. We have two dogs and five cats already, but the cats are all outdoor cats. The dogs are indoors.

Bad headache this morning. My neck. Owie! Plus bad brain damage from sleeping.

Ciao for now!

C.A.R.E. Quiz Night

Last night the Wife and I went to the monthly Cayman Animal Rescue Enthusiasts fundraiser. She’s the team captain of our trivia team, The Hammerheads.

We won third place and got a $25 gift certificate for PDs Sports Pub.

It wss fun. I was a standby player because there were too many people on our team.

It was hard to get up again this morning. Blah blah blah.

Tomorrow is Friday! TGTF!

On Our Way Home To Cayman

We’re getting ready to leave for the airport. I was sad when we left Cayman to come here, and I’m sad to be leaving Costa Rica now.

But when I get home, I know I’ll be glad!                           bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb

These “b”s were typed by Lea the cat.

Ditto’s OK for now

Ditto had a rough weekend. But yesterday afternoon he started acting like he felt better. We were worried, because he wasn’t eating, but then his appetite kicked it.

image

Here’s a picture of the sick Ditto, in his bed. Glad he’s feeling better!

It’s Monday, and I have the attitude to prove it. Just let me hang on till lunchtime, I’m going to the beach, rain or shine.

Below is a picture of our cats, hanging out on the driveway yesterday evening, watching the dogs.

Have a good week!

Pearl the Chicken, Fare Thee Well!

I saw Pearl the chicken this weekend, first time in a long time. I took a handful of food for herĀ  and she took off like a bat out of hell.

image

I guess I got what I wanted, she re-integrated into the wild chickenĀ  world. But still I feel sad she doesn’t remember me. I still remember one day, when I came home from work, Hawk and Pearl were happy to see me and came running up. One landed on the cell phone case on my belt and the other landed on my briefcase.

I understand why bird people like birds.

Now we got the cats using the old chicken coop to take naps in.

Have a good life, Pearl!

Have a good week, Blogreaders!
