Friday Finally Fantastic

It’s Friday. I feel very relaxed and calm. Not much to say today. All good.

Supposed to rain today, according to my weather apps. It has rained every day this week, but my weather apps have said all clear, so I rode the scooter. I got rained on once. Today, I’ll take the car, (on the weather app’s advice), so it’ll probably be clear. Not complaining.

Supposed to rain tomorrow. I’m supposed to go diving and look for an airplane that crashed long ago. Last night, I dreamed I went diving. I just remembered.

Have a great weekend!

I Now Believe Global Warming Is Real

When we were at (and on) the Athabasca Glacier, there were photos that showed the glacier receding over the years. My brother in law in Drake Bay, Costa Rica, last night was telling my wife about his colleague/associate/acquaintance has been measuring the decline in the numbers of frogs and snakes in the rainforests. When I got certified to scuba dive in 1981, we’d see sharks on practically every other dive, often groups of sharks. Now, seeing a shark is rare, one in ten or more dives.

Glacial decline has been measured since the 1850’s, (according to an article on Wikipedia), so I’m not sure it’s all humans fault, but I think humans main power is destructive and we need to change. I remember a book I read years ago, “Mutant Message Down Under”, and ask, Which society is more advanced? One that lives in a place 10,000 years, and you can’t even tell they were ever there? Or a society that practically destroys it’s environment with pollution and war in 250 years?

I think the answer is obvious.

Today is my first day back at work since my vacation. blah. Why do I have to go work to get money to buy a fish for dinner when I could just go out and get the fish myself. Because I also have to pay for my house and the bills. The whole system of money has something inherently wrong with it.

Busy weekend coming up

TheĀ  Wife & I haveĀ  a busy weekend coming up. Manufacturers of her work products are visiting and she will be quite busy. When she’s busy, that means I’m busy. I’m sure I’ll have better stories to tell after the weekend!

Glad it’s Friday, but not sure how “weekendish” this weekend will be. Today is the last day of my Airport Operations training and it has been very interesting.

I have some friends visiting too and hope I can go diving with them.

Have a fantastic weekend!

No Title Monday

Not much to say today.  Got the blahs really bad.

I need a new backpack, I moved into a new old one that I had but I don’t like it. I need a new backpack.

Went diving yesterday, it was good.

The new version of the WordPress app I use to post posts, I dislike it. When I want to upload an image, instead of being able to steer to the folder I want, it shows all the images on the device. And I can’t see the name, I have to select by using the tiny sliver portion of the image they show you. It shows newer images first.

I’ll have to write a letter to the developer. Instagram is doing the same thing now. I’m about ready  to be rid of Instagram. I already got rid of Pinterest.

Sorry about the volume control in my screenshot.

Anyway, I’m sure I’ll feel better tomorrow.

Have a good week!

An Alternate Path?

It was a really good weekend. We had a friend of a friend visit, I went diving. And we went to the weigh-in of a fishing contest. While at the marina where the weigh-in was, I saw the sailboat above. The wife and I talked to the owners for about a half hour. Man O man, when I run into cool people like them, I feel like I could have taken an alternate path in this existence and been happy too. While I love  my life here, I sure would love to be on a sailboat, sailing around the world. They had great stories to tell in just the short time we talked. Hightailing it out of Colombia, after running into problems with the government, then hitting rough seas and considering turning back. Through the Panama Canal. We didn’t even scratch the surface, hearing the stories.

I could live that life.

Now it’s back to work, beach lunch and maybe a barbecue tonight.

Life is good, it’s too short, but life is good!

Have a good week!

New Underwater Camera

Got a new camera before Christmas. First time I took it in the water was yesterday.

I had been waiting for “the right time” to get it wet, but the right time never came. So I took it out yesterday. It was rough and wavy and murky, but I took it out anyway.

It is much better than the old camera!

Ditto the Dawg took a big fall down the stairs this morning. He didn’t want me to help him down but I should have anyway. He’s so old. He’s OK, he just knocked over a table and made a really loud noise.

Have a good Tuesday!

New Casio G-Shock Watch

I got a new watch, a Casio G-Shock. My old watch, which I got in 1982 (for $40, which was outrageously expensive to me) is not a G-Shock, but I’m sure I recall the first G-Shocks were identical to my watch

My Casio has been a very good watch. I’ve been through several high end, dive watch/computers that have all failed, and the Casio has always been there, my faithful backup.

Now, even with a new battery, sometimes the display goes blank and I push a button and it comes back to life, but needs to be reset. So I got a new one.

Lets see, 1982 to 2014, that’s 32 years. So if I get the same performance with this one, I should be good, watchwise, till the year 2046!

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!!!
