Semi Productive

It was a semi productive weekend. I got a lot of little tasks done.

Sunday was nice, I went to breakfast with friends. Then I went to the beach.

YouTube is acting weird. The video keeps playing over and over and if you swipe down to get to the comments and settings, it goes to the next video. . YouTube must stupidly be trying to emulate TikTok. Also the embed link won’t work, so no video for you, my dear readers, today. Sorry!

In the afternoon, i went to my pizza on the beach and this is the last one for 6 weeks because the restaurant is closing for a break. Not the pizza restaurant, the beach restaurant.

My heart goes out to Louisiana who just got devastated by hurricane Ida. Right now it’s just getting light there and they are assessing the damage for the first time.

Aaaand it’s Monday. Have a gooda one as you can!

Helluva Good Movie Night

I went to Movie Night last night and the Westin was PACKED. There was fashion show in the lobby and Movie Night outside. Plus I heard but did not see a third event over in their “event tent”.

None of my regular movie night crew went, and I was alone, but I expanded the movie night group considerably. I saw people who I introduced to movie night and people I knew in general who indicated a willingness to attend future movie nights..

I had a nice dinner, the coconut shrimp and fruit. More of an appetizer really, but I saw someone else with it weeks ago and wanted one ever since. I didn’t take a picture of the shrimp, but I did take a picture of my dessert, and pasted a crop from the menu onto the pic. I didn’t know what coulis was, so really, it was an educational dessert. A selfless dessert for the good of you, me dear readers.

It was goooood. I could have eaten a whole bunch of them. But I didn’t, gotta watch the figure!

But I didn’t actually stay for movie night. When the movie started, I left and went and saw some friends in Bodden Town.

It was a really nice evening, much nicer than I expected when I left the house

And now it’s Friday! Ya can’t beat that!

Another Great Weekend!

Another great weekend! Had Indian food with the regular dinner club on Friday, Lawn mowing and yard work in the morning and the CIASA World Aquatic Day on Saturday, after a long beach walk.

On my beach walk, I saw some serious beach erosion.

Sunday morning was a Plastic Free Cayman beach cleanup at Barkers It was hot but fun. There was also a lot of flooding out there for some reason.

you can see water over the road if you squint.

And now it’s another Monday morning and I’m headed back to work. Bummer.

Day After July 4th

It was a nice weekend, right up until today. Friday I went to dinner with my Friday night dinner club. Saturday I finished painting the roof (except I’m going to put another coat on.) And made it to the Annual Mango Fest in George Town.

I really wanted a Mango smoothie but for some reason they were gone, already finished. But I did have some good juices and bought a piece of art. Two Cayman Parrots.

I really like it.

Sunday, I finally made it to Ragazzi Pizza on the beach at Luca. It was my 4th time, but they had been closing early. Basically the advert was wrong. It was really good pizza and locale. I will be going back with friends.

After Luca, went to this little beach right in the middle of town. It has been calling me for weeks. So I went and found lots of sea glass. And I tried to take a video but instead got a series of pictures. Not sure what I did wrong, but the result was interesting.

Today is cloudy and rainy, Tropical Storm Elsa is to our north. We had heavy lighting and rain last night and this morning. Today, (bank holiday) looks lIke it’s going to be a write-off, which is OK in my book. Tomorrow will be sunny again, I hope.

Last Day Of May

It was a very good weekend, overall. Went out to dinner Friday with a dozen or so friends. It was really wonderful.

Saturday, mowed the yard. And cleaned. A lot. Found some ancient, 2017 pasta in the pantry. And lots of rice Not expired. I’ll be eating rice forever.

The wife took the dogs overnight Friday night. When she brought them back Saturday morning. I was not really very nice. I don’t like her being uncomfortable and she looked uncomfortable and small Saturday morning. No matter how she treats me or what she does, I never want to be mean to her. I felt bad after she left and later, I apologized on a voicemail. Later still, I invited her out to a “nice” lunch on Sunday. She accepted and we had a good lunch and it was very nice, like old times. I made her laugh. It was odd saying good-bye in the parking lot, I’m used to us to getting in the car and going home like normal. I almost forgot to say good-bye, I took a step towards the car and she didn’t, and I remembered, “Oh yeah”. and it all came flooding back and I felt like bursting out into tears.

I’d rather be angry, sorta, sorta not. Being angry seems more powerful and in-control feeling.

Sunday morning earlier, I went diving. it was a good dive. But it was sunny and clear when we went under and almost completely overcast when we got out. Then it rained, definitely because I mowed the yard.

Queen Angelfish

Had a pretty nice weekend. Saturday went birdwatching with the wife. There is some kind of bird inventory going on. Also Saturday I made some slow cooker Barbecue that came out really good, I thought. Sunday, I went diving and posted the two videos above on TikTok. I like the music. TikTok is a pretty entertaining app. Find me if you have it, I’m MCD6D.

Tomorrow the wife starts moving out. I guess she will proceed with a divorce pretty quickly. I still don’t have a reason for her leaving except she “feels different”. I am not having an easy time coping.

Not the best holiday

Back to work today after 10 days off, 4 vacation days, 2 holiday days and 4 weekend days. These last few days have been pretty poor.

Flew my first two flights on a Boeing Max 8. Didn’t crash.

Went to my friends funeral Saturday.

I did, after the funeral, have a very nice lunch at a very nice hotel.

Not the best of times for me, but you have a good week!

Stuck In Suez

As you probably already know, the Panamanian-flagged container vessel MV Ever Given is stuck in the Suez Canal, turned sideways in low visibility and high winds.

Some say weeks to free her, Egypt says they’ll have her out over the weekend. The news says this disruption in shipping will have a planetary effect.

We’ll all find out.

From what I’ve read the past few days, about 40 ships a day pass through the Suez Canal, at about $350,000 USD . The price is based on the cost of going around South Africa.

It will be interesting to watch this unfold.

Happy FRIDAY! We had tacos and I also had a big burger last night. I think we’re pretty much going to be regulars at the Westin Movie Night from now on.

Mixed Picture Post

A rooster who joined us for our Mexican lunch

The cat who lives inside the home center loves my wife and I.

I gave up cigars, and my cigar shop goes out of business.

It was a really nice weekend. Saturday we went to buy some flower pots and then out for lunch at a nice Mexican restaurant. In the late afternoon/evening, we went to a Food Fest featuring street food. It was good. I didn’t take enough pictures there though.

Sunday was a nice and quiet day. I loaded up and went to go diving, but the water was too rough and we didn’t go. It was borderline. So I spent the day at home, reading my most recent book, Ready Player Two, sequel to Ready Player One, which I enjoyed very much. Ready Player Two doesn’t have very good reviews, but so far, it seems pretty good to me. I just started it though.

And now it’s Monday again, too quickly. Have a good week!

Movie & Taco Night

Last night we went to movie night at the Westin. More importantly, they had tacos. Every Thursday, for the past little while, they’ve been showing an old movie on the beach. Last night was the first time the wife and I went. It was really nice and the tacos were really good. There were fish, shrimp, pumpkin and chicken. Chicken won in my book, but all were good.

The movie was one with Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz, My Best Friends Wedding. It was ok. I had never seen it before and we left a little before the end to get some frozen yogurt and make a quick stop at the grocery store. Next Thursday is Dirty Dancing, and if you know my wife, you know we won’t miss that one.

And now it’s FRIDAY!
