Yesterday two of my best friends joined Facebook and sent me a friend request. One, I knew where he was, his brother has been on Facebook for a long time. My friend was just one of those “anti-computer” dudes.
The other one is a friend from the Navy who had completely disappeared. I had been looking for him, and/or his son, for years.
Cool.
I rekkon I better get my Christmas shopping done either today or tomorrow, what do you think? Wait till tomorrow?
Hava Goodun!
Same story every year:
1: I don’t know what gifts to get people for the holidays.
2: I don’t have the money to buy anything anyway.
3: I don’t want anything for Christmas
4: I don’t want to buy anybody anything for Christmas
5: I don’t want to participate at all.
I hate to sound like a scrooge, but a spaceman observing our behavior from space would think we are idiots. We have “Thee Holiday of Thanksgiving”, then we spend the next month greedily grabbing up all this unnecessary crap. Nobody wants to do it, everybody does it because everybody else is.
And don’t try to hand me any of that Jesus crap, if you’re celebrating the birth of a great man, this period of insane behavior is NOT the way to do it.
And you know what? I don’t give a rats ass if I DO sound like scrooge!
Let me outta here!
Happy Thanksgiving To All my American friends!
Hope you have a good day and a prosperous year! (
I plan on watching American Football on my tablet at work!)
Got off to a late start today. Alarm went off and I went back to sleep. I popped tall 35 minutes later. Oversleeping hasn’t happened in years. I had to bypass my morning exercises to get back on schedule. Now I’m ready for work on a very windy stormy day.
We have a cold front that’s stalled very near us. That usually means several days of wind and rain. Just in time for the weekend.
Again, have a wonderful day!
With the exception of last Tuesday, when my tablet totally died, My solar panel was able to maintain a usable charge on my Nexus 7.
My next experiment is to compare the time it takes my solar panel to charge 4 AA batteries compared to the time it takes the wall charger to charge 4 AA batteries.
Today is a holiday here, our first since July. It’s good to have an extra day off. It’s Remebrance Day. A day to remember our Veterans
I got a part time job as a real estate agent. Now I have to pass the test and get my license.
Have a good week!
🙂
Here in sunny Florida, arrived Saturday night. The Wife and I flew into Miami, rented a van and spent the day shopping. I got an SD card reader and a new cool phone case. The Wife got one million new swimsuits and a lot of other stuff.
Then we drove to Ft Lauderdale and picked up the In Laws, Ma and Pa and Bro and Sis in laws.
We drove down to Key Largo, stopping for a steak on the way, and the arrived at our rented house on a canal. (Pics above, back and front) The plan yesterday was no plan, and except for a grocery excursion, we didn”t leave the house. We hung out by the pool, and not much else.
Today we’re driving down to Key West.
Sorry, I don’t think I’ll be commenting on blogs much this week, 🙁
Today, I slept super late late, (6:45) and have a sore back to show for it.
It’s a holiday here today, Queens Birthday Holiday. Happy Birthday to the Queen. The picture above is from The Celebration this year.
I think a Queen would be a good idea for the US, keep the government the way it is, but add a Queen (or King) to straighten them when they get out of line. The US Government has gotten way way way out of line. On the other hand, maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about, because Elizabeth is a good Queen, and I don’t know what it would be like with a bad queen.
This weekend was a good weekend, we had some rain, and some sun. We went to a great party yesterday with lots of good food.
Four of our five chickens attacked the smallest yesterday and she was near death. We separated her from the others and have been giving her water with an eye dropper every hour and she is getting stronger, But we need to find a way to get her to eat. She has barely grown since we got her, while the others are quite a lot bigger. They are getting hard to catch when we let them loose in the yard, but the wild chickens are much bigger, and want to peck them. It’s turning into quite the task, raising these chickens.. We need a coop outside…
Have a good week, Sorry if you’re working today.
Remember when you were a kid, and you got a new toy, and you were at school and the toy was at home, and you were excited to go home and play with it? That’s the best way I can describe being married to my wife, it’s like a new toy, Only it doesn’t wear out. Whenever we’re apart, I can’t wait till we both get back to the same place at the same time!
We’ve been together a long time, (more than half a decade), and it just gets better and better.
I remember living in South Carolina, where my sister was born. My Dad and I would take walks, and there were giant pine cones and Spanish Moss in the trees.I remember I found a cardboard arrow sign that said “Hot Dogs” on one side. I tried to write “Hot Dogs” on the other, but did it backwards. I didn’t understand what my parents meant when they said it was backwards, I though it was perfect, and here I was, writing before I could even write! But it was backwards, I drew the letters like the ink had soaked through the paper. I didn’t have the concept of writing in my head.
So one day, me and my Dad were out in the front yard on a warm South Carolina day, and I don’t know what we were doing, but my Dad said “You better be good, tomorrow’s Christmas”
I was completely surprised, I had no idea that Christmas was coming. Plus it was warm. You have to have cold and snow for a long time before you had to start thinking about Christmas. I remember thinking how out of touch I was to be unaware of Christmas the next day, and I remember thinking maybe my Dad was joking.
The next day I got that red bike from the post couple days ago, with training wheels….
That was just about exactly 48 years ago today…. maybe 49…Damn.
It was kind of weird, celebrating Christmas AND Hanukkah all my life.
Below are my Tuesday NFL Football picks and the results, next weeks game, Redskins VS Dallas, will be the game of the year. I have friends going! C’mon WASHINGTON!!!
