The Word Friday…..

……Will Not appear In The Title Of This Post.

Every Friday post has the word Friday in the title. Not today, dammit.

Glad the weekend is almost here though.

I’m on the back porch. This is my view.

I moved WhatsApp from my tablet to my phone. First I got this:

image

Not available… So I had to sideload it.  Now the app won’t work on my tablet, because one device per phone number. I find this inconvenient.

Last night a frog jumped off the roof and landed on my head. I said WTF! and threw it off the balcony. That makes three frogs seen in two days. The wife’s going to have a cow when she sees one. It’s frog season.

Oh I’m glad it’s Friday! Even though it’s not looking like a nice weekend…

Have a good one!

What The Heck Is Pinterest?

image

I used to have Pinterest on my phone, but I lost interest! (Haha! that rhymes!)
Seriously, what is it? I posted some photos, “pinned” some other peoples photos, but what’s the point? I gave it two  tries actually, installed it a year or three ago, never saw the point, deleted it after several months. I reinstalled/uninstalled again a few months ago, thinking maybe I missed something..

I still get emails several times a week, saying someone “repinned one of my pins”

If anyone could explain it to me, I’d appreciate it.

Coming up soon: WTF is LinkedIn?

Friiiii-hiiiiii-day!

Have a good weekend!

The You Tube Game

This weekend I invented what I call the YouTube Game

image

It’s a fun game you play by yourself. Here’s what you do. First of all, get your best sounding headphones and plug them into our YouTube device. I was on my phone.

Think of a song you really really like.
Find it on YouTube.
Listen to it on your headphones.
Enjoy it to the max.
While the song is playing, scroll down below and find another song you really really like.
It can’t be the same song by a different artist and it can’t be the same artist.
When the current song has finished, (skipping to the end is against the rules), play your next song.
Repeat.

The game is over when:
There is no suggested song that you really really like.
There is no suggested song that is by a different artist or song title.
Every suggested song is one that you don’t really really want to hear at that particular moment.
The batteries on your device die or your internet drops out. (it happens here)

When any of the above happens, you win!

You must keep playing till you win!

I played for a couple of hours Friday night. It ended for me when  every suggestion was Ozzy Osbourne. I covered a wide range of excellent music that I hadn’t heard in a long time before I got to the end. It was fun!

Try it!

Have a good week!

Cheering Up

A week or so ago, someone left me a comment telling me to cheer up! So I’ve been looking at the past several posts and indeed, I’ve been sounding pretty lugubrious lately. So I’m here to tell you that things aren’t so bad.
Work is my problem, like a large percentage of people.
But comparatively, my life is still great! I still go to the beach almost every day, I live in the greatest place on Earth, I have a perfect wife and all is fantastic.

My problem I think mainly is lack of content, ideas for posts. When I sit down in the morning and can’t think of a topic, I dredge up something from my  brain and it doesn’t come out too well. Another problem is organization. I take photos, put them on my computer (the only thing I use the computer for is to transfer photos from my camera to my hard drive, where they usually never see the light of day again.) I need a system to get them available to me here, on my android.  I’ve got two good photos of a lobster from last week that I’ve been wanting to post, but they’re on the hard drive, far far away. I need  to sync everything to “The Cloud”, so that I can access it from anywhere.

Anyway, don’t worry  about me, I’m doing great!

Replacing Google Reader

I guess almost everybody has heard Google will be shutting down it’s Reader July 1

google-reader-shutting-down-Well, I’ve been looking for a replacement. and I think I found it. It’s called Bloglines

bloglinesAt first glance, I thought it was crap, but after you flip the switch circled above, iIt seems to be pretty good, . When you open it for the first time, default is this “Widget View” which shows all these boxes that are not what I want. But at the top of the page is a switch to flip for Reader View. Reader View is good.See picture above.

I exported my subscriptions from Google Reader, and got a ZIP file with a whole bunch of JSON files and one XML. On Bloglines, you’ll see an “Add Content” button. Below that is “Import OPML”. Steer  that to your XML file and it will import all your subscriptions from G Reader. And you can add sites one by one. I’ll help, if you need help, comment or email.

I’ve looked a lot for a Google Reader replacement, I started When I got my own webpage. I started looking again when I got the notification G Reader’d be shutting down. This is the best I could find, and for me, I like it.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!!!!!

Tuesday Tribulations

Tuesday, Of course no one showed up to repair our internet. LIME, our internet provider, accomplishes nothing unless someone is stepping on their neck, forcing them to do what they are paid to do.

I listened to the radio for 45 minutes this morning, trying to hear the weather prediction. What crap. I’m spoiled rotten I guess, I expect to have news and weather and anything else I want at my fingertips whenever I want it.

I don’t even know who won the football game last night…

Above are some random photos for your viewing pleasure. Like I say, pics make the post!

Internet, like Water and Food

Un F- Believably, our internet went down Saturday night. Called the provider, went through the phone rigamarole, they gotta come over. Of course. Didn’t I just go through this? Don’t I have a new modem?

When the internet went down, I was checking out the Facebook buttons I added, and was working on Twitter. I was waiting for a page to load, when The Wife said, “Is the internet down?” Sho nuff, twas. I don’t know how long it woulda taken me to notice. It must have just gone down seconds before she started using her computer.

So anyway Sunday with no internet was kinda noticeable.  No internet, no NFL football. We went to the brother and sister in laws for part of the day, but still missed the internet while at home. It’s kid of a constant thing, phone, tablet, computer, TV, all hooked up to the internet.. It’s become a must-have item. The title of this post post mentions food and water, but internet access is more like air, something I need whenever I want it.

I could go on and on, but I’m posting this from work, a habit I DO NOT want to get into.

But here’s a photo from work, just outside my door in the afternoon, eerie shadows.

Have a good week!

Internet Junkie

Woke up this morning and the internet was down, island wide.
Dang, there ain’t much to do in the morning with my coffee and no internet. Then the wife got up and we played with the dawgs and things weren’t so bad.
Then the internet came back up.
I was doing an “Internet Junkie” image search for a picture to post with this post, and found a blog about someone who went a week without using the internet. It’s a really good read. Read it HERE. That’s where I stole the image, BTW.
