back ta work

I’m back to work after a sick day yesterday. Throat’s still a little weird, but better. Actually, I could take another sick day…

Mostly yesterday, I lounged around and watched Orange Is The New Black. I’m sad to wreck my perfect “No sick days used” record, but I needed the rest though.

So now it’s back to work, catch up day.

Have a thriving Thursday!

Sick Day #1

I’m taking a sick day today. I have a sore throat. It feels like there’s a can opener lodged there. The pointy end.

This is my first sick day this year.

The pointy end is in my throat, causing a sore throat.

Funny how people visualize what a sore throat looks like, or imagine the object that is causing their pain.

Yesterday, I had to re-prop one of my banana plants that originally fell over in the windstorm. It re-fell over so I had to re-prop it. I had to make more banana props because of the massive falling-over. Usually just the plant with bananas needs propping and I had a nice prop made from PVC tube. But I made the emergency props out of wood, and they seem to be much better. I thought the PVC was good, because it was flexible and looked cool, curvingly holding up the banana plants. But the rigid wood seems more basic, less high tech, stout simple and strong.

Cloudy here today. I’ll be napping.

Have a restful day.

Mini Windstorm

It was quite a busy weekend. Friday night/ Saturday morning, we had a little mini hurricane in our yard. It knocked over a little tree in our front yard, broke off biggish tree branches, none on which hurt anything. Knocked over four of my banana plants, two of which had bananas. They should be OK, as they seemed undamaged (except for being uprooted) and I built props and propped them back up. Also the ministorm kinda wrecked the privacy screens on the porch railings upstairs. And flinged the outdoor furniture around. Below is a pre dawn video I took.

So, on Saturday, I cleaned up the yard, and went with the wife to pick up an orchid she won in a raffle, at the Botanic Park, stopped by another ladys house to drop off and pick up some other plants, had lunch at Casa 43, did some grocery shopping.

Sunday I cleaned up the back porch and last night went to see the Roger Waters. The music was good, no musicians recognizable except Roger Waters himself. And to me, during the second half, he was hatemongering with a heavy political agenda. It made me wonder where David Gilmoure and the rest of the Pink Floyd crew were that Roger Waters had to go it alone with to me, seemed like a bunch of rental musicians. I’ll have to do more research today.

And now it’s time for work and dropping the kids off at Dawgie Day Care. Have a good week!

USA Taco Day

Today, in a nation called the United States, it is their nations taco day.

Unfortunately if you are from a nation other than the USA, it is not your nations taco day and you should be sad, very sad.

However, you may eat tacos today, whatever nation you are from, and that will make you feel good!

Also note that Mexico Día del Taco is celebrated on March 31. Southern Mexico is where the best tacos are.

Have a great week-end!

Throwing The Plan Out The Window

For the past two days, I’ve woken up tired and been tired all day. This morning, when the alarm went off at 5:45, I turned it off and slept almost another hour. Then I got up, feelin’ good, walked the dogs (a short walk) and left them outside.

Then I shaved and showered. When I turned off the shower, it was like the sound didn’t stop. Shower sound replaced by rain sound. Lickety split, I ran out and brought the dogs in. Lenny was OK, ’cause he has sense to get under shelter in the rain. Daisy, on the other hand, being the cat chasing chicken eater she is, was chained to a tree. Poor, poor fing!

I dried them both and neither sseem worse from the wear.

One weather app says 100% chance of rain, the others hover sround 80%

I went image searching for a rainy beach cartoon and found this picture, I’m pretty sure I know precisely where it was taken.

Condos North of South Sound Community Center?

Have a great day, I’m looking forward to some decent rain. Stay dry!

ILM

The training course I’m taking at work is a bigger deal than I thought, or so the impression I got from our first class yesterday. Not that I think it’s going to do me any good on the job, but because there’s assignments and grades.

The course is named ILM level 2. I thought ILM stood for I Love Money, but it doesn’t. It stands for “Institute of Leadership & Management”.

Rather take a course about loving money.

More rain expected today, but it’s pretty clear now.

Have a good Wednesday!

Remember Facebook?

Remmber when Facebook was fun? Addictive even?

I remember when I’d check Facebook a thousand times a day. Spending hours, scrolling down the wall, seeing tons of good stuff. Then you click a notification that pops up, and it puts you right back at the top of the wall, ready (and happy) to start scrolling down again.

Not anymore. Now it’s fake news and adverts, rules an regulations, pressure to join a “group” or comment on something. Annoyance. Now I go on once or twice a week, and usually click the “clear notifications” button and I’m gone again.

I’m trying to remember the social media that was big before Facebook, buy can’t. Maybe soon I won’t remember Facebook.

It’s supposed to be a rainy week here. It was half cloudy yesterday, with thunderstorms cruising around, dropping random swaths of rain.

Today at work I have training, another course with a three initial name.

I slept good but I’m tired. Have a good day.

Itsanothermonday

It’s another Monday. This weekend, Friday, I bought a new toaster, Saturday, mowed the lawn, and sprayed kill-all vegetation killer, Sunday, cleaned out my side of the closet and discovered pants and shirts I forgot I had or don’t remember ever seeing before. I’d like to get rid of about half my clothes.

Below, is a spiders web on the gate to our driveway, I was getting home on my bicycle last Thursday and my headlamp just happened to see this web. It is quite cool, I think.

Friday, when I was buying the toaster, I saw a huge fan. It was six feet tall. I wanted it but didn’t buy it. I asked a lady walking by to take my picture with the fan. This is what I look like at work, but I’m not usually so color-coordinated.

There was a big sale at the hardware store, and it was a madhouse.

Last night I went to a Rosh Hashana dinner. It was quite nice. Happy New Year! The year is 5780. It’s the ’80’s again! What a great decade that was!

Have a good week and wonderful decade!

Best Time Lapse So Far

I made this yesterday at lunch, one picture taken every two seconds, made into a video at 12 frames per second.

I like it because it’s so smooth, and the higher clouds are moving in the opposite direction as the lower clouds.

Happy Friday!

Morning Swim

Pre sunrise with a little moon in there…

Left the dogs at home this morning and went for a swim. It was cold when I got out of the sea, strong wind from the northish. Winter is coming. It was nice walking home after I got out of the breeze.

Yesterday I put the shock collars on the dogs. It has ranges from 0 (test mode) and 1 thru 5 minimum to max. Yesterday I put it on 3, which, according to the instructions is vibrate, sound and no shock. They seemed to bark with normal annoyance.

This morning I put the collars on 2, which surprisingly, is vibrate, sound and small shock. 4 is more shock, and 5 is maximum shock. I don’t know why 3 skips the shock. Perhaps a mistake in the instructions. I’m going to YouTube it when I can.

Lookin pretty clear, weatherwise. Think I’ll ride the scooter.
