Good Sleepin’ Weather

Last night was good sleepin’ weather. Doors and windows wide open, breeze blowing through, two blankets. It was nice, snuggled in bed. Around halfway through the night I had to take off one blanket but it was still good sleeping weather. I think it was warmer when I woke up then it was when I went to bed.

It’s the start of the sleepin’ season!

Have a good season!

Aaaand Itsanuther Mundee!

It’s Monday again, and since I posted all my underwater pictures and weekend report yesterday, I have nothing for today.

Yesterday, I cleaned my workshop area a little, just the workbench and the junk on the floor, and stowed my generator for the non-hurricane season which starts in a couple weeks. I went to an evening barbecue yesterday, in the evening. Good chicken and ribs and potatoe salad.

Below is a picture of Lee Lee thee cat sleeping in a potted plant. It’s unusual because the wind was blowing quite strongly but I guess the shelter and comfort was sufficient.

Lee Lee napping in a gale

This morning is still quite cloudy and quite windy but but the weather should improve soon. Hopefully I can swim my half mile at lunch, rain or shine.

Have a good day and a better week!

Watta Weekend (So Far)

On Friday I went diving early and was home before the internet man came and supposedly fixed my internet. Then I trimmed the hedges, and mowed the front yard. I went to town and picked up a dozen 18×18 pavers so that I could double the size of the backyard patio below the apartments back porch. I also did a lot of shopping, running around and errands. Saturday I went diving again, and the sea was rough when we got in, and super rough and pouring rain when we got out.

Then, Saturday afternoon, in the rain, I laid the pavers down in the backyard, what which isn’t easy because they all have to be leveled.

My body is sore from so much physical exercise and bending over, and my left calf is very sore because diving Friday I had a very bad cramp just before I got out of the water. I feel all beat up but good.

Friday we did a good deep dive at the main wall and and Saturday we stayed kinda shallow at the mini wall (Different dive sites) and today is too rough and weathery for diving period.

There was an 800 Meter Sea Swim scheduled, that was canceled Saturday. There was a Coral Fest exhibition for Sunday that was canceled because of covid. The sea swim was previously canceled because of covid, and was canceled yesterday because of the weather.

Below are pictures in 2 groups, Below is Friday’s dive.

And below is Saturday’s dive!

Today is Sunday, but it’s not sunny at all. It’s cold and windy. And on-and-off-again rainy.

I had a weirdish breakfast, my bagels were frozen, so I had a pretzel instead. ( If the salt and pepper is on the other side of the eggs,)

Eggs over easy with a pretzel.

And I’ll talk to you tomorrow!

Nov 2021 Already

Hard to believe it’s November already. Tropical storm Wanda formed in the Atlantic, that should be our last storm this year simply because there’s no more names in this year’s storm name list. Yeay!

Afraid of a Friday night thunderstorm.

I had a very nice weekend. .I went to movie night Thursday unfortunately by myself. Friday I don’t remember much. I got up early and went and saw my marriage counselor. (It’s like closing the barn door after the cow got away, I know.) Then I went and had a nice breakfast on the waterfront. I went to the beach to swim my half mile, and it was too rough. Later on at home, we had a good thunderstorm.

Starting (I guess) Friday, it was stormy and windy and cloudy and rainy almost all weekend. Yesterday I turned off the air conditioner for the 1st time point may or June. Hopefully I will enjoy a few months of lower electric bills.

It was too rough for diving or swimming all weekend, I did get in the sea and took a Long Beach walk with some friends.

Yesterday, although we didn’t dive all weekend we (our informal dive group) did go to a very nice brunch at Luca. And I forgot to take a damn picture , I meant to…

And now it’s a Monday morning November 1st. It’s still cloudy and we have weather and it’s supposed to rain again tonight. But I’m in very good spirits.

Have a great week!

Oil Change & Negative Thinking

I took my car in for an oil change yesterday. For about a week, the weather report has been saying increased rain. So instead of riding my scooter while my car was in the shop I rented a car. It hasn’t rained a drop, if I was on my scooter, it would be pouring, don’t you think?

I have been told that negative thinking precipitates the negative things that happened to me. Yesterday a co-worker and I both had the weather apps open on our phones. His had a huge sunny icon and mine had a cloud with a thunderbolt coming out of it. Same time same place. Different apps. I don’t even think any of my weather apps have a big, cheery sun 🌞 icon.

I have often joked that I control the weather, whisper, I can put the plants out in the rain and by the time I get the last plant out, it will stop raining.

I have been working on improving my static thinking, but it isn’t easy to change your pattern.

Have a good day everybody, I know I will!

Twigs Unlimited

I’m headed back to work today. After 3 days of vacation and a weekend, all used to clean up after Hurricane Grace. The yard is as clean as it can be. I started off clearing a few huge logs and ended up with an unlimited supply of tiny twigs, forever getting smaller and smaller.

endless twigs

In the end, yesterday, I ran the lawn mower over the whole thing, grinding up what was left. I’m done for now. I’m trying to save all the plants I can try to save. I am pleased with how things turned out, yard-wise.

And now:

Looks like more storms are coming.

Oh well, I am powerless over the weather. Have a good day!

Back to normal?

It’s back to work today for me. I’m going to request some vacation time because I need to clean up the yard and do a lot of work after Hurricane Grace. It might not have been a hurricane when it got here, but it was one when it left.

I have a lot of cleaning up to do, tree branch removal and general clean up of the yard. My paint locker blew off the porch and all the paint and gas cans were submerged underwater and they have to be gone through to see what’s good and what’s not good. Plus the paint locker itself must be repaired or replaced. There is too much to list here. And, work has been pressuring me to use up some of my vacation so yeay!

Sun’s out, let’s dry up some of this stuff and get ready for the next one!

Have a productive day.

Hurricane Grace

It’s blowing pretty hard right now. It’s loud and noisy, things banging around outside. I took the above video about a half hour ago, about 6:15 AM

If it’s actually a hurricane, It’s category one. But we had a couple of very strong gusts a little while ago reminding me of Hurricane Ivan..

Water and power are off. Power went off about 5 till 6, water about 6:20.

All good here. But I wish there was power for coffee.

8:07 AM update.

Seems like the wind is coming from the south now, instead of the east. Lots of damage in the yard, none to the house or fence, so far.

UPDATE: 11:22 AM: Still blowing and raining hard, but easing up. Still no power or city water, but I needed coffee.

Best cuppa coffee ever!

I’m supposed to be at work at noon, that’s not gonna happen.

TS Grace

We are dead center for Tropical Storm Grace. My hurricane shutters are up already or ready to go instantly, but I don’t expect it to really be that bad.

I drove past a grocery store yesterday during lunch hour and traffic was atrocious. People were blocking 4 lanes of traffic to enter the grocery store parking lot. It never occurred to me why until I got back to work and thought about it for a minute.

Not to be boastful, but I somewhat maintain a state of readiness even when there are no storms coming.

Have a happy Tuesday, stay dry, & don’t freak out.
