It seems like it’s raining everywhere but here. I’m in the mood for a couple days of good rain. Maybe we’ll get some rain from the storm after Fred.
It was raining a minute ago, but it stopped. It HAS been raining, just not enough. Seems like it rains everywhere but here. Here being in my yard.
It’s cloudy and rainy enough to stop you from going to the beach. It stops you from riding your scooter instead of driving your car. But it doesn’t water the plants.
Anyway, I can’t control it, so I might as well not worry about it. HAVE A GOOD DAY!!!!
I spent most of Saturday and some of Sunday trimming trees in the backyard. See pic above. I wish I had taken a before shor, you could touch the tree branches from the porch. Ran into chainsaw trouble Sunday, I’m still not done. I rekkon I’m done enough.
I missed a big street parade Carnival Saturday too. I really wanted to go, but, you know, chainsawing.
Weather coming, looks like. We need some rain.
Today, both dogs are going to the vet to get shots and checkups.
Last week, I think it was Wednesday, someone creased my car in the parking lot of the grocery store. I think I noticed it immediately after it happened. It is upsetting, to say the least. I’m not going to do anything about it though. My first damage to my new baby van.
There is a news article HERE about a solar storm we’re having now. I was going to post this yesterday, but found a blurb that said this July 2021 solar storm stuff was fake news.
I don’t think solar activity is fake news, but if you Google “Solar storm could cause catastrophe”, you find we almost died practically every year since the internet was invented.
It takes light 8 minutes to reach earth from the sun. We’d not know what hit us if something happened to the sun. Maybe some of our instruments could give us a little heads up, but there’s nothing we could do about anything that happens to the sun.
In other news I did go to the farmer’s market yesterday, compared to the weekend one there was very small. I didn’t even take any pictures. But I did buy a mango smoothie and a star fruit that I ate at work. Maybe I can germinate the seeds…
Tonight is movie night but I’m not sure if I’m going or not. Have a wonderful day!
It was a nice weekend, right up until today. Friday I went to dinner with my Friday night dinner club. Saturday I finished painting the roof (except I’m going to put another coat on.) And made it to the Annual Mango Fest in George Town.
I really wanted a Mango smoothie but for some reason they were gone, already finished. But I did have some good juices and bought a piece of art. Two Cayman Parrots.
I really like it.
Sunday, I finally made it to Ragazzi Pizza on the beach at Luca. It was my 4th time, but they had been closing early. Basically the advert was wrong. It was really good pizza and locale. I will be going back with friends.
After Luca, went to this little beach right in the middle of town. It has been calling me for weeks. So I went and found lots of sea glass. And I tried to take a video but instead got a series of pictures. Not sure what I did wrong, but the result was interesting.
Today is cloudy and rainy, Tropical Storm Elsa is to our north. We had heavy lighting and rain last night and this morning. Today, (bank holiday) looks lIke it’s going to be a write-off, which is OK in my book. Tomorrow will be sunny again, I hope.
Elsa is slated.to move more north of Grand Cayman now, but Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are still on the edge of the cone. Today is looking pretty good weather-wise and I think I’m going to risk a scooter ride to work. Hope it doesn’t rain on me!
It’s a long weekend coming up with a holiday Monday. I think it’s the last Cayman holiday until November.
Looks like we’re gonna get a rainy weekend. 🌧 Maybe it’ll be all right Friday day and Saturday morning. I sure would like to go diving and test out my new underwater camera.
Actually it might not be so bad overall, The newer data is starting to show the center moving more north than the pictures above.
We already got the rain we needed, now I have to worry about it quitting raining so I can mow the yard!
Damn good coffee this morning. Every day, I use precise measurements and get pretty consistent results but sometimes it’s just damn good, better than normal, coffee. Today’s is exceptionally good.
Did you know, that as of right now, astronauts cannot do laundry in space??
According to the article here, In these modern times in which we are living, the astronauts wear their clothes for a few days. Then when they (the clothes) get too dirty or stinky. they (the astronauts) throw them (the clothes) away and use new clothes. No laundry! There’s no way for them to do laundry in space! Who’d a ever thunk it? It’s also more difficult to bathe in space. Oh, the things they didn’t tell us in space camp…
So finally they’re going to develop a laundry system for space. You can read it in the article linked above, it’s fascinating.
I wonder what the difference between space soap and Earth soap is??
In more space news, a photographer in Virginia, USA captured the International Space Station transiting the sun on June 25th. You can read that article here. That article is even cooler than the space soap one.
And in local news, I woke up this morning to 100% cloud cover and steady rain, a rare phenomenon here. Most of the time our rain is very localized. Isolated showers from a single cloud floating by, spewing water only underneath it. Usually it rains everywhere except here in West Bay too. It is good to have the rain because we really really needed it.
It was a very good weekend, overall. Went out to dinner Friday with a dozen or so friends. It was really wonderful.
Saturday, mowed the yard. And cleaned. A lot. Found some ancient, 2017 pasta in the pantry. And lots of rice Not expired. I’ll be eating rice forever.
The wife took the dogs overnight Friday night. When she brought them back Saturday morning. I was not really very nice. I don’t like her being uncomfortable and she looked uncomfortable and small Saturday morning. No matter how she treats me or what she does, I never want to be mean to her. I felt bad after she left and later, I apologized on a voicemail. Later still, I invited her out to a “nice” lunch on Sunday. She accepted and we had a good lunch and it was very nice, like old times. I made her laugh. It was odd saying good-bye in the parking lot, I’m used to us to getting in the car and going home like normal. I almost forgot to say good-bye, I took a step towards the car and she didn’t, and I remembered, “Oh yeah”. and it all came flooding back and I felt like bursting out into tears.
I’d rather be angry, sorta, sorta not. Being angry seems more powerful and in-control feeling.
Sunday morning earlier, I went diving. it was a good dive. But it was sunny and clear when we went under and almost completely overcast when we got out. Then it rained, definitely because I mowed the yard.

And now it’s another Monday It’s a holiday in the US, first day of summer.
it’s a beautiful morning. Too bad that camera can’t capture the sun coming up through the trees.
Not much to post about again today, I expect a busy, fulfilling day at work today.
This the season of daily rains, just not here in West Bay, (center of the universe). It can rain in town and not in West Bay, but when it rains in West Bay, it’s raining all over the world.
The sky now is clear. “Today Weather” says 45% chance of rain. “Weather Forecast” says 60% chance of rain. “Weather Bug” hour by hour says 2% chance of rain max. The CI weather app hasn’t been loading and I didn’t check it, but they ALWAYS say it’s going to rain.Windfinder shows dripping clouds except for a couple hours in the afternoon. Wunderground just says 40% chance of rain, straight across the board.
How can I tell if it going to rain or not, with this mish mash of conflicting information?
For many things, the internet makes information gathering worse. If I just looked out the window, I’d say it was a good day to ride the scooter and leave the van home. But the internet has poisoned the decision making process.
Thanks internet! I was driving the van anyway, I have go shopping after work today.
