Bullet Point Post

  • The Wife gets home from her Scotland girls trip Thursday afternoon. Two nights and a wakeup.
  • Yesterday was the Queens Birthday Holiday, giving this Tuesday a distinctive Monday feel.
  • Four years ago, I got quite into the FIFA World Cup, this time, all the games occur in the middle of the night, and nobody here seems interested and there seems to be no news. Has it even started yet?
  • I’m wearing cotton underwear instead of a swim suit under my clothes, because of my leg, beach lunches are tempoarialy out.
  • I bought a new backpack last week, today is the trial run. It is smaller than its predessesor and seems like it’s packed pretty tight. Although I like it, it may not work out.
  • It is still cloudy. It’s been cloudy a long, long, long, long, time.
  • I was told that hanging up a plastic bag full of water keeps flies away. It doesn’t seem to work.
  • Have a great day!

Banana Follow-Up

You can see the bananas now, much better than compared to the photo in my last post. I’ve been eating a lot of bananas this past week! They’re almost gone, only the smallest bunch left.

It’s still totally cloudy here.

Sunday morning, cuppa coffee #2.

Last night I was planning on making a big bacon and eggs breakfast but this morning I think I’ll just have cereal. With banana!

With the Wife gone to Scotland, (returning Thursday), the television has been mostly off. Last night I put on a movie, then went out on the back porch and didn’t even watch it. If she was here, I’d make her a big breakfast, and we’d watch one of her cooking shows while we ate. She’d say “You made too much, I can’t eat all this!”

Maybe I will make that big bacon and eggs after all…

Ready To Switch Back

It’s a cloudy Friday, I think it’s been mostly cloudy for more than a month now.

My post the other day, about chopping my own head off seems less of a joke today. I think I’m ready to switch back to disposable razors. I cut myself about 4 times this morning. I thought I’d improve over time, but it doesn’t seem to be happening. If you cut yourself today, you’ll probably cut yourself in the same place tomorrow.

Does anybody use these old time safety razors? There was a brief flurry of activity a few months ago, and I acted on it. I remember from my past that they were easy to get nicked with, but I don’t remember it being this bad!

Anyway, I’m eating all the bananas I can, and we’ve got more coming! A new banana flower has appeared. It will probably be at least three months for the bananas to be ready though.

That big purple thing is the flower. It will turn more like a lions tail as it grows more.

Have a great weekend!

Possible Banana Disaster

My huge bunch of bananas quite literally ripened overnight. I’ve got to eat a lot of bananas.

I’ve given a lot away, probably a third, I’ll be giving away as many as I can today.

Looks like more stormy weather coming.

As far as I’m concerned, it can rain till my foot gets better.

Five and a half more weeks.

Have a great day!

Chopping My Head Off, One Slice At A Time

Above is my shaving rig.

My Grandpa used a soap brush and because he did, so do I. I have for a very very very long time now. I use any bar soap, and it makes super good lather. I cut the bar soap with a knife to make it fit in the cup.

The soap cup, I begged from a coffee shop because I could tell, it was the perfect aluminimum soap cup. It used to have packets of sugar and artificial sweetners in it. This way way back in the 1990’s.

The stand that holds everything, I got on our relatively recent trip to Italy. The stand came with its own soap cup, which was inferior and cast aside. It’s floatng around the house here somewhere.

The safety razor. I just got it a few weeks ago, at a beauty supply store here in Cayman. (I was looking for a professional toenail tool, if you’re wondering what a he-man like me was doing inside a beauty supply store). The razor has no sentimental value and is cheap, but seems to hold the double edged razor blade ok. I asked my wife, (who’s in Scotland now), if she saw one, to pick one up for me. It would be cool to have a Scottish safety razor. Every day, I nick myself. Usually in the same spot(s) as yesterday. My chin, behind my right ear, and on the left side of my head. It is a poor musician who blames his instrument, but dang! I don’t blame the “razor holder”, they’re inherently more dangerous than disposables. Hopefully with practice, I’ll get the hang of it.

If I don’t slice my whole head off before then!

Have a great day!

Yours truly,

Scarhead

Broken Leg

Here’s a GPS track from my watch of me mowing he yard last Friday. Good thing I got it done, because the next day, I would break my leg, tripping over the dawg.

I didn’t even really trip, I felt my foot coming down on this soft, furry thing, and I tried to change the trajectory of my foot, I kind of rolled over on the top of it.

Above is the X-Ray, with my blue writing showing where the break is. Teeny tiny line running between the blue arrows. (The X-Ray tech showed me the pics, and mentioned she was emailing them to the doctor, I asked if she could CC me on that email and she did).

I didn’t think it was broken, it didn’t swell too much, but it hurt. I went to the doctor mostly to find out when I could get the all clear to run and swim again. Six weeks with this boot on it.

I feel sad that I can’t run and swim. Bye-bye beach lunches too. Sadness is an emotion that I seldom feel, and is easily recognizable. It’s not like depression or self-pity, which I always battle. Depressioin comes from anger, self-pity comes from pride, but that’s a post for another day!

Apparently, las night it rained behind the house, but not in the front. The back was soaked, the front, dry as a bone!

Have a great day!

I Don’t Know What To Say That Doesn’t Involve The Word Monday

And if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.

Twisted my ankle yesterday, Pretty sure I’ll go see a doctor today

Had a perfect weekend, never left the property since I got home Friday.

Speaking of Friday, I got my first ever reimbursement check from my work health insurance. I’m going to have to ask them to re issue it because the written amount is different ftom the number amount.

One cent! Or zero, epends on if you’re a glass half empty or a glass half full kind of person. My bank charges a $10 check cashing fee, BTW.

Cloudy day so far today. Haven’t started the scooter in two weeks.

“Generally Cloudy” I don’t think I’ve ever heard that term used befoore…

I’m actually looking forward to the week. Have a good one!

Right Now in The UK

As I type this, my Wife is probably getting off the plane and getting her luggage and going through customs at Heathrow Airport. They have an hour and a half wait then a 3 hour flight to Edinbourgh, Scotland. She left at 6 yesterday afternoon. It seems longer to me, being here, while she’s traveling for 13 hours than it seemed when we travelled eveh further Miami to Rome nonstop.

It’s Friday, yard needs mowing, animals need tending to. Sheba’s been wearing the cone because she’s been digging up a sore on her cheek. I have a complicated schedule of pills for Sheba and Ashy thee cat. (I dodn’t know my wife did all this work when she was here!)

Because of the cone, Sheba has been depressed. I want to try to get her on the kayak this weekend. I haven’t had my kayak out in a very very long time.

It is the first day of hurricane season too.

Have a great weekend!
