Moving Backward

These past few days, it seems like the Cayman Islands is moving backwards in its attempt to open the borders. There were a couple positive cases on the street and a child in a school got a positive covid test.

Everybody is freaking out, buying hand sanitizer and toilet paper and wearing masks. The government has requested no large gatherings and it seems like we’re moving away from opening up instead of towards it.

I mean, once we open the borders we’re gonna have covid. It was expected, so I thought. But to me, by the reaction, the government and the press seemed to think that we were gonna open up and still have no covid in the Cayman Islands.

I think covid is like the flu, for the common cold, or car crashes. Covid is something that’s here to stay. Something that we’re going to have forever that has to be accepted.

I don’t mind wearing a mask I don’t mind doing almost anything I’m asked to do for the good of the herd, but we just can’t hide forever in lockdown or closed borders.

I can see again!

I got my new glasses yesterday and they are instantly so much better, that I can’t believe that I put up with that crap of the old glasses. I remember when I got the old ones new I thought they would take getting used to but I never got used to them. I believe they may have even hurt my eyes.

On this day in 2005 I met my wife. It’s surreal to go back to the 14th thru the 17th of September 2005 and read those posts on this blog. It will slay me if I can look back on these present days with 20/20 hindsight and see a way I could have saved my marriage., but I sure can’t see it now.

Notice I said 20/20 in a post about my glasses. Very clever!

Have a great day!

UPDATE! FOR SOME REASON, I THOUGHT TODAY WAS THE 16TH. I met my wife on the 16th of September 2005.

The Weekend In Pictures

It was an OK weekend. I mowed the yard and did some spot painting, a little touching up here and there.

There was supposed to be an 800 m sea swim which was canceled, much to my disappointment.

Here are a few photos I took over the weekend.

Is a Crane that handles containers in our container yard. If you didn’t know what it was you probably couldn’t guess.
The place where I sat to drink my smoothie and read my book for a little while.
My across the water view from my reading spot Sunday.

And now it’s Monday back-to-work. Over the weekend, I was thinking of ways to use my time more efficiently at work.

Have a fantastic week!

Covid Is Back

We knew it would happen when we started reopening our borders. Yesterday, for the 1st time in more than than a year, we found 2 cases of locally transmitted covid. Yesterday at the grocery store, I noticed probably 1 in 5 people wearing masks.

Star Fruit Tree

Several months ago I ate a star fruit. I saved the seeds and try to germinate them. I use the wet paper towel in the dark method. Of the 3 I tried only one sprouted. I put it in a pot and nothing happened for a long time but today I noticed it had come up. I hope she makes it!

it’s Friday! And looks like another yard work weekend.

havva goodun!

Fighting Ants

I don’t mean ants that fight each other like jousting or duelling, I mean I’m having a battle with ants in my house. I think I won the battle of the bathroom and now I’m attacking a regiment in the kitchen. I am attempting to secure the perimeter and cut off supply lines to the multiple armies with which I battle.

That means I sprayed all around the house with this ant killer spray. Wherever concrete meets diry

What’s I found an ants nest in a picture frame.

It’s an ongoing battle.

Outside in your flower pots if a plant suddenly starts to die odds are there’s an ant colony inside eating the roots

It seems to be a Caribbean wide problem, everybody I know has the same thing.

And it’s almost Friday!

Finally, a good one!

I woke up this morning feeling better than I felt in a long long time. Finally. I feel like I slept good for the 1st time in a long long time. Finally. Hope I can keep it up, at least for a while.

The last 2 nights have been Rosh Hashanah. Happy New Year 5782!

Yesterday all I gotta do is go to work no other plans or obligations. Except some grocery shopping, I gotta do some grocery shopping.

Goldie saying goodbye as I go to work.

Have a truly wonderful day!

Views I Saw

Here’s a couple of pictures, one I took yesterday at my beach lunch and the other from this mornings dawg walk.

“Loneliness.”

There used to be rock going across what looks like a channel in the pic above. It’s on this blog somewhere but I can’t find it now. I took this pic while I was sitting in the shade, reading my book.

I love this view.

Above is where I walk the dogs every day. The view isn’t special when I walking in that direction, but I always try to look back when I’m on the way back home, it seems much better then. I don’t know why.

16 Tuesdays ago, my wife left.

Have a good day!

Sunday Dive Pics on a Monday

Nice dive yesterday. Top left to right down: Moray eel, baby lionfish, red scallop in a hole, little blennie peeking out a hole. (Might be a baby jawfish, half the size of a pencil eraser, boxfish, ribbon nudibranch, My first fingerprint cyphoma. And the last one is a type of feather worm.

Today is back to work!

Ceiling Fixed

Last night the guy completed the fixing of the ceiling where the air conditioner tray flooded from above. Then I cleaned the steps and everything and didn’t go to movie night.

I went to bed late and slept well although my sleep app says I didn’t sleep well. 0% deep sleep. 33% sleep score, lowest ever for me.

And I woke up at 2:00 a.m. for an hour and worried about not being able to sleep, which is normal which is normal for me these days.

I’m glad it’s Friday, it has been a very long week.

Have a great weekend!

Adding More To It

Met with the wife yesterday. She wants a divorce. Although it’s not surprising it did cause me to restart the cycle of grief I suppose.

I didn’t sleep well last night, I saw the moon come up at the bottom of my window and rise up and up till it passed the window top while I was laying in bed. My sleep thing on my watch shows 59% efficiency, which is really low.

I’m tired of posting these sad posts.

Tonight is movie night at the Westin but I’m not sure if I’m going to go, the guy is fixing my ceiling from the air conditioner leak and I’m not sure what time he’ll be done, plus I might be tired.

Enjoy your day!
