Project Hail Mary – Andy Weir

The latest book I’m reading is called Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. It is super good, very entertaining, can’t put it down excellent.

Andy Weir wrote a book called The Martian from which they made the movie starring Matt Damon.

The worst thing about this book is you read it in less than a week and you want more.

The good thing about this book project Hail Mary, is that it’s really good. This guy wakes up on a spaceship and discovers that germs are eating the sun. Sunlight levels are decreasing and he has to kill these germs. Incidents, he also wakes up after a coma with amnesia and can’t remember any of this. Then this alien comes cruising up in his spaceship and they work together to kill the germs.

And there’s more!

PS: they’re not really germs, but they’re tiny and I can’t think of a better way to easily describe them.

Read it you’ll like it!

Have a great day!

Manrique In Heaven

One year ago today, Manrique died. I wanted to name this post “December 7th 2020, a day that will live in infamy”, but I did that last year.

I didn’t know if it then, but when did Manrique died, It was the beginning of the end of my world. It was the event that set my divorce in motion.

He was a really good friend, and friends are hard to come by for me this day and age. I knew he was sick, but I didn’t think he would die.

I’ll tell you what though, today’s not gonna be some miserable sad day of mourning. I’ve been miserable the past year, and I’m getting over it.

Seahorses!

I saw my seahorses 3, 4 and 5 this week. They were all in about 10′ area, out in the sand flats between the mini reef and the drop off. They were all about 3″ tall I guess.

It was a good weekend, did some yard work and took some naps. I went out to dinner with the Friday night dinner club, but the Sunday pizza on the beach hasn’t really been happening lately. I liked that better than the Friday night dinners.

And now it’s back to work, have a good week.

Congratulations or Condolences?

When I tell someone my divorce is final they usually say “congratulations”. That’s not how I see it. I guess, for me people should say condolences. For her, congratulations are in order. I guess.

I’m kind of torn on how much personal stuff I should put here on this blog. On one hand, I don’t want it to be this emotional cry baby place, On the other hand I want to be able to come back in a year and know what was going on inside my head, something I can’t always do.

It’s another “use it or lose it” Friday, no plans, really.

I have a great weekend! I will!

Glaucoma Miracle

2 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with glaucoma. The pressure in my eyeballs was 36 and 52. The doctor gave me eye drops and pills and after a week the pressure had dropped to 21 in both eyes. 21 is considered the maximum normal eyeball pressure level.

Then for troubleshooting purposes he took me off the pills and I was just taking the eye drops, I expected the pressure to go up. Miraculously it didn’t. Yesterday my pressure was 15 in one eye and 17 in the other which is quite good and I am very pleased. The doctor was very pleased too.

I consider this a miracle, I was ready to get laser surgery but didn’t need it. Now if I could just repair my damaged optic nerve.

Have a great day!

Hurricane Season Is Over

Hurricane season 2021 is over. Hurricane Grace was the only storm we had. It did quite a bit of damage.

Last night, I slept pretty good. There were no major dog events and it was a quiet night.

Today I have an appointment with the eye doctor about my glaucoma. I’ll probably end up getting laser surgery today in one eye.

Have a wonderful day!
