Tension To Tranquility

Today is back to work after a full weekend. Next weekend I have to commit some time to yard work and housework.

Yesterday I attended this workshop. It was very full. To be honest, I wasn’t that impressed. I already knew and incorporate most of the techniques covered. One new one that I like is 54321, list in your head or on paper:

5 things you can see
4 things you can hear
3 things you can feel
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste.

this will bring you back to the present moment if you find yourself preoccupied with the past or future. The workshop was good, overall, just for me, not much new.

What Scale?

I have a friend in Grand Forks North Dakota USA. It’s mighty cold up there.. Of course, you can’t tell how cold with any internet weather sites. They don’t specify the scale they’re using. How unprofessional! How unscientific! Is it Kelvin? It it Centigrade? Who can tell?

its either -7⁰ or 19⁰ or 266⁰ but it might be -7⁰ or 14⁰ or 251⁰, perhaps -7⁰ or -251⁰ or -472⁰. Who can tell? They might be using any temperature scale. Nowhere does it specify the scale being used. The information is therefore worthless.

Very annoying.

Loss of Advantage

Several months ago, I started getting up at 4:45 instead of 5 till 5. At first it was wonderful, I had all this extra time. Now suddenly it seems like I don’t have so much extra time anymore. I barely have time to post my post before I have to run out the door. When I was married I got up at 4:20 a.m. to take care of all the stuff they need to be taken care of. Things are much better now, time wise but I do wish I wasn’t so rushed in the morning.

Also I don’t seem to have time for longer posts. I guess I’ll have to do more preparation in advance.

Wasted Fifty

Have a programable light switch .that died. I looked at it, 15 years old burnt out spots on the display, no lights no power, seemed dead.

I went out and bought another one. It cost $50.50. I was looking at the new switch and saw a reset button on the front. “Hmmm wonder if my old one has a reset button. Sure enough, it did. I pressed it and vrooooooooom! The switch powered up, I programmed it and it’s been working great!

I couldn’t find the receipt to take the new one back. So now I’m happy to have have a spare $50 light switch.

R.I.P. Inka

I came home yesterday and found Inka, my newest, youngest baby cat dead. Apparently hit by a car. She was still a kitten, a young teenager in cat years. She was feral and just starting to let me pet her. She would have been a great cat. It’s hard to find a cat who’s accepted by the other cats and gets along well enough with the dogs

Inka had a bad rear foot. It was curled and she walked (limped) with the top of her foot on the ground.

All my cats love to lay in the middle of the warm road. I have always feared coming home to find one run over. I wish they’d all just stay inside the fenced yard all the time.

Day of Firsts

First workday of 2024. First post of 2024

Pretty much everything I do today will be the first time this year.

I’m looking forward to 2024. I can’t ever remember looking forward to a new year. Fear of getting older I guess.. This year I’m looking forward to a year of continuing positive growth and increased helpfulness to others.
