My mom told me.something quite interesting, and upon careful observation, It appears to be true.

My mom said the all the good stuff is located around the edges of a grocery store, near all the walls.

I think it’s true! The fresh fruits and vegetables, the refrigerated items, meats and cheeses, all on the edges. The salad bar, fresh baked goods, and the hot food steam tables too. All the stuff that’s more healthy is more or less near the edges of the store.

In the center, are the dried goods, the preservative filled foods, the ultra processed foods. The stuff that can sit on the shelf for decades and not go bad, the stuff that’s not particularly good for you will be found in the center isles of the store.

This can save a lot of time, instead of cruising up and down each aisle every time I go to the grocery store, (and not finding anything I want to buy) I can just circle the outside and grab and go!

That’s what’s wrong with my eyes. The Wet Macular Degeneration was diagnosed yesterday in my “good” eye. Broken blood vessels and fluid buildup inside the eyeball. The treatment is a series of injections into the eye. Oh joy. Stick a needle in my eye, just what I’ve always wanted.

When I was a little kid, I saw a picture of someone having eye surgery. Thir eye was spread open and it looked like a fried egg. I’ve been afraid of eye problems ever since. All my dreams are coming true. I’ve had eye surgery, now I’m getting shots in the eye. Fantastic!

I enjoyed this book, short chapters, each describing and imaginary (?) city. It seemed to me that in the beginning of the book the cities were quite pleasant, nice places to live. But as the book progressed, the cities got darker and darker and darker and the people became more and more unhappy.

The jist the book, Marco Polo is telling Kublai Khan about the cities. Kublai Khan at first thinks they’re real. Soon, Kublai realizes that Marco never travels, and it’s just making it all up.
AND there’s a moral to the story at the very end. I wonder if they’re referencing The Divine Comedy, Dante’s Inferno.

You’ll have to read it and let me know.

it was a fun book, short chapters make it super easy to read, and the interesting content stretches the imagination.

It was a really nice weekend. Starting with the Friday Night Sunset…

Satuday was the the first swim of the 2025 swim season. I came in 99th overall, third in my age category. I don’t know how many swimmers total were registered, but it was a very big event. Conditions were perfect. A good friend of mine came in 66th. We had fun turing our numbers upside down.

After beach yoga, I went diving on Sunday, and it was quite a nice dive with lots of sea life and good bottom time.

And now it’s back to work, I really feel like I could use a day or two more off,but I think I have training most of this week this week… or next, not sure.

I have a first cousin end Thousand Oaks, part of Los Angeles. I called last night and she said that their house was not in danger right now, but they were packing things up just in case. She said it’s been really dry for the past 6 months, but before that they had a lot of rain and a lot of vegetation growth, which is all dried out now and fuel for the fire. The winds are very strong this time of year, 100 mph, and firefighters cannot use aircraft. Firefighters report the areas where they are trying to fight fires have had the water shut off. Things are looking pretty bad for Los Angeles. This morning BBC radio said that the famous Hollywood sign was in danger today.

As long as my cousin has lived in Thousand Oaks, she said she has had to evacuate twice because of threatening wildfires.

The fire has already gone through the “movie star housing zone”, Pacific Palisades.

Good luck to Los Angeles..

Not the other way around. Canada, to me, is superior in almost every way. Better land, better people who actually cooperate for the common good. Better government.

If the USA wants to take military action, I think Wisconsin should go to war and take over the upper peninsula of Michigan,

Why does Michigan get to be two states with the same name? Because of a bridge? No! The upper peninsula of what is now called “Michigan” is part of Wisconsin, not Michigan and never has been!

That’s what I say.

The United States has enough trouble with its enemies without the president elect alienating the allies.

As usual,.I woke up about 3AM. However, this morning I got up, and started reading my book. Before I knee it, it was 4:20 and my alarm goes off at 4:45! I was asleep when the alarm went off, and feel fine, but we’ll see how the day goes.

I’m selling an old antique table. It was already an antique when my parents brought it home in 1967. It’s possibly 100 years old.

When my parents moved out of the house they lived in when I was in high school, they sent me a pallet of junk. This table was among the items on that pallet.

when I was taking the pictures for the ad, I discovered a crack in the table top. It had been covered by a felt protective cover for years I guess. But the crack is relatively new.

I started off asking $500 for it, yesterday I lowered the price to $400, today I’ll lower it to 300, and so on and so forth until I dump it.

I used to have a lot of love and sentiment for this table, but I have lost it all and now just want to be rid of it.

I would like to find it a good home, but no longer really care. It has dominated my dining room forever making the place of virtually unusable.

There was a good, much needed rain last night.

Here we are, another Monday.

I slept poorly last night, and nothing seems alright this morning.

I have an appointment to get my car serviced today. Bah humbug, wonder how much that’ll send me back?

I’m moving into a better office at work. I am surprisingly unthrilled about it, I don’t care where I sit at work. There’s no status, there’s nothing there that I crave.

Last night I didn’t sleep well. I dreamed my car had a trailer on the back, and I parked in a way I didn’t think I could reverse out.

Every time I woke up, I was worried about that trailer. Then I realized there was no trailer and go back to sleep, and then wake up worried about the trailer again.

I’m glad it’s friday, it doesn’t feel like Friday because of the New Year’s holiday. But I’ll be glad it is tomorrow.

Yesterday I got 34 years!
