I slept poorly last night, and nothing seems alright this morning.
I have an appointment to get my car serviced today. Bah humbug, wonder how much that’ll send me back?
I’m moving into a better office at work. I am surprisingly unthrilled about it, I don’t care where I sit at work. There’s no status, there’s nothing there that I crave.
Last night I didn’t sleep well. I dreamed my car had a trailer on the back, and I parked in a way I didn’t think I could reverse out.
Every time I woke up, I was worried about that trailer. Then I realized there was no trailer and go back to sleep, and then wake up worried about the trailer again.
I’m glad it’s friday, it doesn’t feel like Friday because of the New Year’s holiday. But I’ll be glad it is tomorrow.
Today is the first working day of 2025. I turn 65 this year, I will be eligible to retire. Makes it interesting to wonder what I’ll be doing next year at this time. Probably I’ll still be working.
I took Lenny to the beach yesterday, he’s getting better at it. I gave him a bath when you got home, had him on the front porch drying off, and he tried to come through the screen door. Very unlike Lenny.
I had a brunch this morning at 10. It was the what I was most looking forward to of these entire holiday season. I got there 15 minutes early. Wandering around the hotel, thinking I was the first one there. Turns out they moved it to 9, and I’m the only one who didn’t get the memo.
There was about 20 people there. Everyone knew it was moved up to nine except for me. I confirmed that I was coming, and I put it in my calendar, and then I showed up. But it was already mostly over.
it’s already 2025 in New Zealand, it started about a half hour ago. I’m not too excited about it, I can take it or leave it. I usually make my resolutions on my birthday not on New Year’s eve.
Heres some pics from my old boss’s 60th birthday party last weekend
Jimmy Carter passed away yesterday . He may or may not have been the greatest US president, but he was definitely the greatest man who ever was US President.
Right now, as I type this, the Parker Space Probe is headed towards the Sun, making its closest approach. It is going the fastest any human-made object has ever gone and going closer to the Sun than any other human-made object has ever gotten. It will actually fly through the atmosphere of the sun.
I wonder if any man-made objects have ever crashed into the sun? Is the Sun’s gravity stronger than the solar wind blowing away from the Sun? I would think that the gravity is much stronger, and a miscalculation on an orbit could end up in that object falling into the sun, eventually.
At its closest approach, the probe is 3.8 million miles (6.2 million km) from our star’s surface.
This might not sound that close, but Nasa’s Nicola Fox puts it into perspective: “We are 93 million miles away from the Sun, so if I put the Sun and the Earth one metre apart, Parker Solar Probe is four centimetres from the Sun – so that’s close.” (Paragraph copied from the BBC)
Thats pretty cool, well, not cool, because the sun is very hot, but it’s neato-mosquito!
I have a half day at work today, days off tomorrow and the next day… Have a great holiday and enjoy your long weekendzzZz!
This weekend I partly cleaned out my storeroom, I decided I’m going to sell my rebreather, I haven’t dived it in more than 10 years. I’m able to get more than an hour out of a single tank of air anyway.
I got rid of a whole bunch of older computer stuff. And cleaned the bathtub really well.
Sunday I went to Beach Yoga, the last Beach yoga of the year.
and now it’s on Monday morning, this year is running out of Mondays next Monday is the last one of 2024. Every year has been going faster and faster and faster.
I received my annual review from Goodreads. I’m sure I’ll finish at least one more book before the end of this year. But it’s a nice little summary which I enjoyed receiving.
