Sea Swim!

I’m in! I swam the half mile (800m) twice this week, not knowing about the above pictured swim. I finished both times, but didn’t do the freestyle racing stroke the whole way. But I know I can finish in the 40 minute allotted time (easily). I haven’t done a sea swim in a long, time. Plus, I could use a new t-shirt!

Went to movie night last night, it was ooo-kay. Casino Royale, the newer one. I thought the card game at the end was too long. Plus James Bond kept going outside and getting killed, except he wasn’t quite dead. He’d come back to life, clean himself up, and everyone was surprised when he showed back up at the card table in his tux.

And I’m glad it’s Friday, as I always am. Have a good weekend!

Mel Gibson as Sean Connery

looks like Sean Connery

Last night we watched “Force Of Nature” on Netflix. I was ok, not great. But look at the picture of Mel Gibson above. Doesn’t it look like Sean Connery? I think so.

It’s Tuesday, Seems like I’m just living for the weekends.

Have a WONDERFUL day!

Stuck In Suez

As you probably already know, the Panamanian-flagged container vessel MV Ever Given is stuck in the Suez Canal, turned sideways in low visibility and high winds.

Some say weeks to free her, Egypt says they’ll have her out over the weekend. The news says this disruption in shipping will have a planetary effect.

We’ll all find out.

From what I’ve read the past few days, about 40 ships a day pass through the Suez Canal, at about $350,000 USD . The price is based on the cost of going around South Africa.

It will be interesting to watch this unfold.

Happy FRIDAY! We had tacos and I also had a big burger last night. I think we’re pretty much going to be regulars at the Westin Movie Night from now on.

Have a GREAT weekend!

Movie & Taco Night

Last night we went to movie night at the Westin. More importantly, they had tacos. Every Thursday, for the past little while, they’ve been showing an old movie on the beach. Last night was the first time the wife and I went. It was really nice and the tacos were really good. There were fish, shrimp, pumpkin and chicken. Chicken won in my book, but all were good.

The movie was one with Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz, My Best Friends Wedding. It was ok. I had never seen it before and we left a little before the end to get some frozen yogurt and make a quick stop at the grocery store. Next Thursday is Dirty Dancing, and if you know my wife, you know we won’t miss that one.

And now it’s FRIDAY!

♬ ♫ Yeay it’s Fri-hi-day! The weekend’s here! We’ll relax! (hallelujah, hallelujah!) And take off our slacks! (hallelujah, hallelujah!) And sit around the house in our rotten underwear!♫

Have a good weekend!

Monday Movie Review: No Escape (2015)

Last night we watched a movie called No Escape (2015). I put the year in because there are several movies entitled “No Escape”

image

US companies go into poor countries and get them a loan for a service they cannot afford, like roads or in this case, water treatment facilities. When the counrty cannot repay the loan, the company and/or the US government basically gets to strip the country of it’s resources in the name of collecting on the debt.

This movie is about an fictional country that revolted because their government drove them into a unpayable debt and economic crisis that basically goes on for lifetimes.

In the movie, a family arrives to live while the husband works as an engineer at aforementioned water treatment plant.

The day after they arrive, the revolt starts, and the government is overthrown, and the rebels start killing all foriegners. The story is about their escape from the country.

It was a very intense, bloody movie. Four stars on Netflix, but absolutely terrible “official” reviews on the web.

To me, the movie reflected a lot about what is going on in the world today, with the debt all over, and the rebellion culd be the only way to escape such a problem. After all, corrupt politicians betraying their countries and citizens for self profit is a big problem in the world today. isn’t it?

Definitely worth watching. Definitely.

Lincoln Lawyer

image

Last night the Wife and I watched the movie “The Lincoln Lawyer”, it was quite good. Highly recommended to see in the theater or on TV.

Lawyer’s defending a client for assault and finds out he’s guilty. Also, his client framed someone for the assault. AND he enjoys seeing innocent people go to jail for his crimes. AND he’s done it before. Super good. Much better than expected.

Thursday. Nice day. I feel like taking the car instead of motorcycle though. don’t really know why. Traffic. Parking. Everything’s a hassle with a car. Motorcycle’s the way to go.

We’ll see.

Have a good day! Watch that movie! You won’t regret it!

Zootopia

image

Last night we saw the movie Zootopia. It is a cute movie about a bunny who becomes a police officer in the big city.
It was good, funny and entertaining. All good! but, unless you have kids who need to see it, I’d probably recommend waiting to see it on TV.

C”mon Friday!

Movie: Coraline

image

We watched a movie last night, never heard of it before, “Coraline”.  It was supposed to be a kids movie, but I don’t think so. It was pretty creepy and real good.

This little girl, Coraline, moves into a new house with her parents. She’s bored and he parents don’t seem to pay much attention to her.

Coraline discovers a little door that has been wallpapered over. She finds the key, and opens the door, but underneath, it’s been bricked up too. Later that night she wakes up and follows some mice to the door. She opens it and the bricks are gone and there’s a tunnel. The crawls through the tunnel, and seems to be in the same place when she comes out, but everything’s a little different.

Definitely worth watching, definitely. Weird tale, good plot, stretches the imagination and really good animation make this a must see.

Have a good day!

New Star Wars

image

Last night we saw the new Star Wars Movie. It was good the first half, but after Hans Solo’s son got killed, I fell asleep. I kept waking up, and Chewy and Rey are standing on top of a flat mountain talkinng. I dozed off and woke up again and they were still there, talking. I never did see Luke Skywalker.

I’ll watch it again on TV, but to me, the move fell far shot of all the hype it received. TO me it was just as good, and very similar to, all the other Star Wars movies.

Here it is cloudy, supposed to rain, I took the car yesterday, but it was sunny and didn’t rain at all. Nice, red sunrise this morning though.

It’s hump day on the first week of the year, I’m ready for the weekend.

Have a fantastic day!
