Two Spotted Eagle Rays inside the house

Itsa FRIDAY! It rained last night and it’s lighting-ey this morning.

Above in the picture are two spotted eagle rays. I had one, and had the other and decided to take a picture of them both.

Last night I considered going to Movie Night, but went outside and it was raining. Later, I checcked the Westin webcam and movie night looked like I was missing a good one. But a few minutes after I took this screenshot, I looked again and there were water droplets all over the camera. So it did rain at movie night after the below picture was taken. I don’t even know what the movie was anyway. Someone else told me that Tom Felton, the actor who played Draco Malfoy was there.

And it’s Friday, The only thing planned for the weekend are more house repairs (electrical) and lunch with the wife.

Day After July 4th

It was a nice weekend, right up until today. Friday I went to dinner with my Friday night dinner club. Saturday I finished painting the roof (except I’m going to put another coat on.) And made it to the Annual Mango Fest in George Town.

I really wanted a Mango smoothie but for some reason they were gone, already finished. But I did have some good juices and bought a piece of art. Two Cayman Parrots.

I really like it.

Sunday, I finally made it to Ragazzi Pizza on the beach at Luca. It was my 4th time, but they had been closing early. Basically the advert was wrong. It was really good pizza and locale. I will be going back with friends.

After Luca, went to this little beach right in the middle of town. It has been calling me for weeks. So I went and found lots of sea glass. And I tried to take a video but instead got a series of pictures. Not sure what I did wrong, but the result was interesting.

Today is cloudy and rainy, Tropical Storm Elsa is to our north. We had heavy lighting and rain last night and this morning. Today, (bank holiday) looks lIke it’s going to be a write-off, which is OK in my book. Tomorrow will be sunny again, I hope.

Summer Stormtime

It’s that time-a year again..

Looks like we’re gonna get a rainy weekend. 🌧 Maybe it’ll be all right Friday day and Saturday morning. I sure would like to go diving and test out my new underwater camera.

Actually it might not be so bad overall, The newer data is starting to show the center moving more north than the pictures above.

We already got the rain we needed, now I have to worry about it quitting raining so I can mow the yard!

Damn good coffee this morning. Every day, I use precise measurements and get pretty consistent results but sometimes it’s just damn good, better than normal, coffee. Today’s is exceptionally good.

Space Laundry

Did you know, that as of right now, astronauts cannot do laundry in space??

According to the article here, In these modern times in which we are living, the astronauts wear their clothes for a few days. Then when they (the clothes) get too dirty or stinky. they (the astronauts) throw them (the clothes) away and use new clothes. No laundry! There’s no way for them to do laundry in space! Who’d a ever thunk it? It’s also more difficult to bathe in space. Oh, the things they didn’t tell us in space camp…

So finally they’re going to develop a laundry system for space. You can read it in the article linked above, it’s fascinating.

I wonder what the difference between space soap and Earth soap is??

In more space news, a photographer in Virginia, USA captured the International Space Station transiting the sun on June 25th. You can read that article here. That article is even cooler than the space soap one.

And in local news, I woke up this morning to 100% cloud cover and steady rain, a rare phenomenon here. Most of the time our rain is very localized. Isolated showers from a single cloud floating by, spewing water only underneath it. Usually it rains everywhere except here in West Bay too. It is good to have the rain because we really really needed it.

Wednesday seems like Wednesday

Monday was a holiday, yesterday was the first workday of our week, but it was so long, it seems like two days.

We had a stupid meeting, that went late. They all do. I stayed late without complaining. Now I predict my boss will schedule all meetings for just-before-time-to-go-home.

Getting a little more rain these next few days. So the weather apps say.

Todays Forecast: 30% chance of big clouds and little clouds with lightning and a whole bunch of rain drops this morning. Around noon, big clouds only with a 50% chance of one rain drop falling. 40% chance we’ll get another drop in the afternoon. Tonight mostly clear with a zero percent chance that one star is nearer to the Earth than the moon is.

Full Moon Rain

Many years ago, someone told me that in Cayman, it always rains around the full moon. I’ve been keeping an eye on it ever since, and it seems to be true. It usually does rain on or around the full moon. This morning it was sprinkling when I did my exercises, now there’s not a cloud in the sky.

Interesting to me… Is there a scientific reason for it I wonder?

Weather Irregular

I took the car yesterday, and then it got sunny and stayed sunny all day. Last night was clear and we looked for shooting stars. We got this meteor shower going on ya know.
This morning, got up at 5, looked outside, crystal clear. I figured I’d have a shower, some coffee, post my post and look for meteors some more while it got light.
Whilst I was in the shower, it started to rain. Pour. It was cloudless a minute ago. Whottheeheck.
How an I supposed to determine the most appropriate mode under these conditions?
The crap I gotta put up with, I tell ya.

You know what else bugs me? What is it? IT rained, IT got light. This irks me every time I hear it. Another thing that bothers me is the nameless “they” that so many people refer to. “Surely they’ll evacuate us, they won’t let us stay here!”

I’m off on a rant. Cabin fever from a little rain! Surely IT will stop! THEY won’t let me go crazy!

Thoughtless Thursday

I’ve been thinking quite some time about what to post and I am drawing a blank.

Last night the wife and I watched the movie Back To The Future II. It’s stupid, but I feel a little bit sad that date in the movie has passed. It was a good movie the first time I saw it and it is still good now. Now that the date has passed, it feels like the movie is really over after all these years, and won’t be as good as it once was. Of course, there is no reason for that to be so.

Glad it’s Thursday and look forward to the weekend. It is still quite rainy, but there is more and more Sun. Been driving the car for 2 weeks now, ready to get back on the motorcycle .
