Rare South Atlantic Tropical Storm

Low pressure off the coast of Brazil morphed into a tropical storm Sunday.
The South Atlantic Ocean typically doesn’t see many such storms.

Tropical Storm Akará. Read the article HERE.

The weather seems weird everywhere, here too. Normally January through March or April is clear weather with no significant features. Sunny and clear every day. Now we’re getting front after front, rain and wind and waves.

I didn’t realize that tropical storms were a rarity in the South Atlantic. I just knew southern hemisphere seasons are opposite than the northern hemisphere’s.

Happy Tuesday! Have a great day!

Fiona

Tropical Storm Fiona is born. She’s probably going to curve north of Cayman.

There was good, steady rain last night and this morning.

King Charles already disgusted me, he said everybody has to delay the funerals on September 19th until after the Queen’s funeral so we could all mourn the Queen properly. I have a friend from here who was getting buried there on the 19th.

And Friday is almost here again. Yeay! This weekend my Home Gardening course starts.

Have a good day, unless you’ve made other plans.

Nov 2021 Already

Hard to believe it’s November already. Tropical storm Wanda formed in the Atlantic, that should be our last storm this year simply because there’s no more names in this year’s storm name list. Yeay!

Afraid of a Friday night thunderstorm.

I had a very nice weekend. .I went to movie night Thursday unfortunately by myself. Friday I don’t remember much. I got up early and went and saw my marriage counselor. (It’s like closing the barn door after the cow got away, I know.) Then I went and had a nice breakfast on the waterfront. I went to the beach to swim my half mile, and it was too rough. Later on at home, we had a good thunderstorm.

Starting (I guess) Friday, it was stormy and windy and cloudy and rainy almost all weekend. Yesterday I turned off the air conditioner for the 1st time point may or June. Hopefully I will enjoy a few months of lower electric bills.

It was too rough for diving or swimming all weekend, I did get in the sea and took a Long Beach walk with some friends.

Yesterday, although we didn’t dive all weekend we (our informal dive group) did go to a very nice brunch at Luca. And I forgot to take a damn picture , I meant to…

And now it’s a Monday morning November 1st. It’s still cloudy and we have weather and it’s supposed to rain again tonight. But I’m in very good spirits.

Have a great week!

Ida – Non Event Here

Tropical Storm Ida was a non event here. Really nothing happened.

This pan didn’t even blow off.

Although Ida was not much here, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac got hit pretty hard. News still to come in

This storm reminded me of Hurricane Charley, Charley passed between Grand Cayman and Little Cayman. The eye was less than 10 miles away and there was no wind and no rain. Tropical storm Ida passed between Grand Cayman and Little Cayman too.

So today it’s back to work. I was expecting a day off, just in time for the weekend!

Sweet disappointment!

Have a fantastic weekend!

TS Grace

We are dead center for Tropical Storm Grace. My hurricane shutters are up already or ready to go instantly, but I don’t expect it to really be that bad.

I drove past a grocery store yesterday during lunch hour and traffic was atrocious. People were blocking 4 lanes of traffic to enter the grocery store parking lot. It never occurred to me why until I got back to work and thought about it for a minute.

Not to be boastful, but I somewhat maintain a state of readiness even when there are no storms coming.

Have a happy Tuesday, stay dry, & don’t freak out.
