Need/Want A Gimbal

Above is a time lapse video of my swim out to Sand Cay yesterday. The camera, mounted to the front of my freediving float, was taking a picture every two seconds, played back at eight frames per second.

It’s pretty jumpy, and that could be helped with a gimbal.

Steadies your camera on three axis’s. They make them to hold phones too.

On my want list.

Have a great weekend!

The Puppy From Flatheads

Flathead is a dog that lives around the corner and down the road. There are other dogs there too. Three, because he walks on three legs, Four, an almost identical dog that walks on four legs. And The Puppy.

I named them all that because I don’t know any of their real names.

Well, this morning, I looked outside and The Puppy was in our yard with Lenny and Daisy. Must have jumped the fence. They were runnin’ around, laughing it up, having a good ‘ol time. By the way, The Puppy isn’t a puppy anymore.

So I had to go down, put our dogs in, open the gate, and chase him out.

But dangit, I sure don’t need that dog to teach our dawgs how to climb fences.

Yesterday, I got Daisy some new jewelry for her necklace.

The old one just said “Daisy” and had my phone number on the other side, my wife wanted it to have her number on the other side, so I had it re-done, with Daisy’s first and middle names, plus her Honorific Title. (Ya know, like Mr. Mrs. or Miss in front of a name)

The weatherman keeps saying rain and it keeps being sunny and I keep driving the van. I wanna ride the scooter!

Better to say rain and have sunshine than vice-versa!

Have a great day!

Dog Training

Dawgs in the dark.

The new dawg is borderline outta control, I have begun my strict training routine. First, it’s sit/stay. We’ve been halfheartedly trying to train them, but now it’s time to get militant.

Lenny, who has been so shy, he’s been difficult to train, (because if he doesn’t know what’s going on, he’d run away) is getting more confident, and has reached a trainable stage. Daisy, she’s a hopeless puppy still. But she’s ready.

Our walk this morning was very productive in the sit/stay department. The problem now is making them obey when they’re not on the leash.

Everything I know about dog training, I learned from the internet.

It’s supposed to be sunny today, getting rainier tonight.

Have a great day!

The Secret of Happiness

Right now, I have a full set of problems, I always have a full set of problems. Six months ago, I had a full set of problems, and I’m certain that six months from now, I’ll have a full set of problems.

On a good day, maybe I’ll get rid of three old problems, and only get one new one, on a bad day, maybe I’ll get rid of one old problem and get three new ones.

I’ve learned, that I’ve always had a full set of problems, and I always will. My inbox is never going to be empty.

I already said, I have/had/will have, a full set of problems now, six months ago, and six months from now. But you know what? Right now, I can’t remember what my full set of problems was six months ago, and I bet, six months from now, I won’r be able to remember what my full set of problems is today

My secret of happiness is to enjoy my time, even with unresolved problems, because they’re always going to be there, whether I have fun or not.

If I waited till all my problems went away before I could enjoy myself, I’d never have any fun. I’d be focused on my problems 24/7. I’ve been there, done that.

Another good saying is “When you’re going thru hell, keep moving.” I used to wallow in the familiar misery I kept myself in, worrying about my full set of problems, setting up a campsite, staying in my own personal, self-made hell indefinitely. But it’s no fun.

I wanna have fun! You have fun today too!

No Percentage For Cling

Last week, the hardware store finally got my paint. The new paint turned out to be considerably darker than the old paint.

Why? With the precision computer mixing technology? Did the old paint fade so much in the two months the store was out?

I don’t think so…

The first time I bought the paint, the store said I had to mix it myself, and gave me the dye in an itty bitty jar. There was only a tablespoon or two of the dye, for 5 gallons of paint.

I think the difference is mainly because of the dye that clung to the inside of the teeny tiny jar. When you only have a shotglass full of thick dye, that cling to the sides make a substantial percentage, changing the color.

Soooo I need another $200 bucket of paint to try and fix it. Maybe 2 buckets… On the good side, I do have the waterproofing protection of the paint, even if it is two colors..

Maybe I’ll get paint of a third color!

Monday funday! Have a great week!

Bicycle Friday

Today I’m riding my bicycle to work. I had problems with my Van yesterday and took it to the shop. Today I’m riding my bicycle, so that if I get it back I can put the bicycle in back of the Van and drive home. It looks very very rainy over there in town.

Are leaving home a 1/2 hour earlier than normal because I’m riding my bike.

But , I’m glad its Friday!

August Already

Can’t believe it, August already. I almost typed “July Already” even though I knew it was August.

All around me, seems like there’s thousands of dogs barking. Most annoying and noisy: the two in the front yard. Plus I hear Flathead*, the neighbors dog thru the woods, who’s barking because everyone else is barking. * Name I gave the dog because I don’t know his name. Plus every other dog within dawgie earshot.

Heavy rain this morning, loud thunder right now. I’ll probably never ride my scooter again..

Boring post. Have a good day…

Mixing It Up

My morning routine is pretty constant. Extremely constant. This morning, I’m mixing it up a bit. Instead of sitting on the back porch, I’m sitting on the front porch.

My view from here.

Every day is thunderstorms. Makes it hard for a scooter rider to get around. I’ve been driving the van. I think the AC is weak in the van. I turned it on the other day, and it didn’t seem too cold. I’m more of a windows open kinda guy. AC makes you weak, start using it, then you start needing it.

Here’s the sun, getting ready to pop out from behind a two-headed monster mushroom cloud.

In a second, it’s going to get really hot out here. I better head inside… To the AC….

Have a happy humpday!

That Short Feeling

Got up, shaved, fed cat, cleaned catbox, walked dogs, showered, made my lunch for work, made coffee, got dressed fed dogs,

and sit down on the back porch to post my post.

The feeling when I realize it’s time to sit, drink my coffee, and and post my post.

Enjoyed while it lasted, but too soon, it’s time to go to work…

Have a good day!

Little Mini Hurricane

This morning we had surprise thunder and rain and lightning and winds. A little mini hurricane. My weather report said no rain till Friday, so, change of transport plans.

Hurricane damage

Apparently, I’m crabby this morning. Took the dogs for their walk, and when we got back, the wife asked, “How was your run?” I snapped back “I haven’t run in probably more than a year, the dogs can’t run.”

Now I feel bad because I snapped at the wife before she even got out of bed. I apologized immediately, but deep down, I wonder if I’m an asshole, deep in my core, printed on my DNA.

July is almost gone, August is almost here. Years are flyin’ by faster and faster. When I turned 40, I figured my life was about half over. I tell ya, the second half is moving a lot quicker than the first half did..

It was a good weekend, we took the dogs to the beach, first time for Daisy, and Lenny swam very well, first time he didn’t act all afraid of the water.

Have a great week!
