Daisy Data & Friday Back To Work

It’s back to work for me today. It was a good couple of weeks off with visitors. There were a few workdays in between. Now I’ll have a lot catching up to do at work

Daisy was at the vet for a follow up from last week. She has a damaged ligament. The doc didn’t know if it was genetic or from an injury. (She seemed to lean toward genetic). Daisy is on pain pills and bed rest for another week. The doc specified “in her kennel except for bathroom walks.” I feel sorry for her, staying in there all day. Even though she’s been kenneled most of her life, it seems sad now that she’s forced to be.

Cousins Last Full Day

My cousin and his wife fly out tomorrow. Today is the last full day. It will probably be a beach day today. We went to the Turtle Farm yesterday and it was quite nice.

What Day?

it feels like Monday but it’s Thursday. I was off a lot of last week (this week) and I’m off a lot next week. I’m getting the days mixed up.

Today one of my first cousins and his wife arrive. I’m looking forward to a week as a tourist

This.morning i have to finish cleaning the apartment. All that’s left is the floor.

The Breath In Between

My visitors left yesterday, i was sad to see them go. I have a short rest and one day at work and the next visitors arrive. My first cousin and his wife get here Thursday. Since I am now an experienced master entertainer, it should be easy to show them a good time.

But as for now, it’s off to work! Have a great day!

Fabulous Jamaica

I made it home last night, had a great time in Jamaica. I’m thinking about going back in July.

It was my first trip since before covid. I’m glad to have it under my belt. I will be traveling more from now on.

Of course, I took Travlin’ Tim on the trip.

Im think about retiring him. He’s large and faded, and has been broken and glued. Mostly he’s too valuable to me to risk any more. Meet Backpacker Bob:

But I don’t know for sure yet. I love Travlin’Tim. And he loves to travel. Travlin’Tim has the history, and the experience. Maybe he should just keep on with me until the very end. I dunno, I’m thinking here!

And on a side note: someone once suggested Travlin’ Tim was from the Travelocity gnome. He is not. He is inspired from the French movie Amelie, and I believe he predates the Travelocity’s gnome. Just FYI. I would guess the their gnome is from the same movie.

it’s a Monday holiday here, I got back late last night and in a little while I get to go get my two dawgies.

E.O.V. Blues

Well, I guess I got the End Of Vacation blues. Early next week, it’s back to work. We’re entering a normal holiday weekend and today is my last vacation day. The final Friday.

But im glad it’s the weekend, glad to be putting 2022 behind me and 2021 further behind me.2023 is going to be a great year!

This isn’t necessarily my last post of the year, but it might be, ya never know. The thought never occurred to me till just now.

Use It Or Lose It

It’s Friday and I have the day off. I am starting to “use it or lose it” for my vacation time this year. I’m taking Fridays off all Noverember, Thursdays and Fridays off in December and the last two weeks of the year off.

I plan on doing a lot of yard work and beach time. Today I’m helpung out Rabbi build a Sukkah for Sukkot, which starts Sunday. A long time ago, the Hebrews were commanded to make a pilgrimage to the temple in Jerusalem, and a sukkah is the tempory shelter they lived in.

After that I plan on having lunch at the Westin!

William Shatner Returns From Space

Yesterday William Shatner got to ride a rocket up the edge of space. He was quite impressed. I’m glad he got to do it.

It’s your Thursday today, my Friday! Tomorrow is a vacation day! Use it or lose it. Yeah!

The sun just peeked over the top of the neighbors house, morning has begun!

Half a Friday

Today I start using up my vacation time. I could say wasting it. Starting today I’m taking Fridays off, Except today will be a 1/2 day, because I have 18.5 days to use. I will take every Friday for the rest of October off off and starting in November I will take Mondays and Fridays off. I’m taking off 3 days between Christmas and New Year’s. That will be the end of my leave for 2021.

2020 it was bad, 2021 has been much worse.

But the weather is looking good this morning and I hope it will be a nice day and weekend.

Winter World

I’m reading a book called “Winter World“. It’s pretty good, I’m about half way through.

The two main characters are Emma and James. Emma is the sole survivor of the ISS destruction by aliens who are freezing the earth. James is this genius dude who was serving life without parole for building what I suspect is some kind of robot or something, we don’t know yet.

So they pulled him out of prison and sent him up in space to save the world from these alien spaceships. And rescue Emma. (James and Emma and a bunch of other people are out in space, looking for the bad guy spaceships).

They yank a convict out of prison ’cause he’s soooo badass and genius. It’s funny. Fifty thousand years ago, when I was in Cub Scouts, I had it all figured out that if they needed to, they’d make us Cub Scouts fight the bad guys after the US Army got its ass whooped in a war. And we had to be ready. Same thing in this book, pulling the hero out of prison to save us all! How grandiose!

It’s a good book, I just don’t think it was a good idea to start James off in prison. Kinda childish and not realistic.

We’ll see. James just picked up this guy on earth from a frozen basement who seems human, but I think he’s the robot. We’ll see. (Yeah, he’s back on earth (with Emma, of course) after his spaceship got shot down.)

I’ll say it again because I think you don’t believe me, good book. Entertaining.

Easter weekend starts tonight. (Monday/Friday holiday plus four days vacation time starting next Tuesday.) And two weekends. It’s Movie Night at the Westin again tonight. And ILM class at work today.
