Miracle Battery?

Many months ago, my motorcycle battery died on my scooter. I was kick starting it for a long time. The battery is very specific because of the battery “”slot” on the scooter. No other battery could fit. I guess because of covid, the shop was having a hard time getting a new battery. They finally told me they probably couldn’t get one. So I looked into cutting the battery box to make a bigger battery fit. I took it all apart, and put it back together. It seemed doable. Just cut the plastic and find a way to support it by the frame.

We’ve had rainy days for the past month, more or less. Yesterday I decided to just go out and start the motorcycle because it because it had not been started in a long time. I turned the key and the lights came on, I was trying to kick started when I noticed the lights on. Bad battery means no lights (in this case). So I turned the key and it tried to start. The battery seemed strong but died kind of quickly because it hadn’t been used in a month. So I plugged in my battery charger and it charged fully. Now the whole scooter seems fine. Good battery, runs smooth easy to start. Can’t complain.

It’s a miracle! Of course, it’s still threatening to rain every day so I can’t ride it yet, but soon come!

Have a miraculous day!

Remembrance Day

It’s a public holiday here the 1st one in a long time. It is Remembrance Day.

I went diving yesterday and am going again today.

Looks like a fun covid test.

Have a great WEEK!

Swim Cut Short – Lighting

Today the sea swim got cut short due to lightning. There were swimmers swimming 1 km, there were swimmers swimming 3 km, and there were 5 km swimmers. The one km swimmers were able to finish the race, the 3 km swimmers almost finished the race. Perhaps some of them did. But the 5 km swimmers didn’t finish at all.

According to my watch, I swam 1.32 miles. That’s 2.124334 kilometers. A hard rain started just before the race started had just quit. I was approaching the halfway point when I heard people yelling, I thought to myself “surely nobody’s yelling at me, I’m right on course”. But the event workers were yelling at everyone to get out of the water.

I was, and still am, very disappointed.

A few more pictures before I close:

Have a very good weekend!

5 K Sea Swim

It’s Friday! I’m doing my normal routine, but out of order.

Tomorrow morning there is a 5 K sea swim. I’ve been doing the half mile at lunch almost every lunchtime. Twice this week in the pouring rain. 5 K is 3.1 miles. 6X longer than I’ve been training for. Years ago, I did a 2 mile sea swim, that’s my longest so far. The thought of swimming my half mile circuit 6 times is kind of disturbing, But I’m pretty sure I’m going to go for it. It should take me two hours.

Yikes!

Have a good weekend!

Eleven Dash Eleven

Yesterday I received the petition for divorce from my wife’s attorney.

I guess the end is near. Today I will reluctantly venture to my attorney to sign it. He will turn it in to the court system that will end my beloved marriage. I don’t want any of this to be happening.

It is a wholly lugubrious day. Rain driving against the windows, thunder and lighting. Total darkness at the hour the sun usually starts to lighten things up.

Eleven – Eleven. A day that will live in lugubriosity.

Hurricane Season Is Over!

At least I think it is. It is very cold and windy, the sea seems cold now (82⁰). I’m pretty sure that we can’t have any more hurricanes this year in Cayman.

2021 Hurricanes

I finally discovered how to make the degrees icon, all you do is press and hold the 0 (zero). I always used to go find one on the Internet and then copy and paste.

The weather here continues to be very windy and a 100% cloudy. And cold, At least for the next few days, Enjoy having the AC off and the windows open.

Today is my 100th day in a row of Spanish on Duolingo. I’ve studied Spanish pretty continuously since high school. I’m still on a beginner level though.

Happy hump day! Have a great day.

Good Sleepin’ Weather

Last night was good sleepin’ weather. Doors and windows wide open, breeze blowing through, two blankets. It was nice, snuggled in bed. Around halfway through the night I had to take off one blanket but it was still good sleeping weather. I think it was warmer when I woke up then it was when I went to bed.

It’s the start of the sleepin’ season!

Have a good season!

Aaaand Itsanuther Mundee!

It’s Monday again, and since I posted all my underwater pictures and weekend report yesterday, I have nothing for today.

Yesterday, I cleaned my workshop area a little, just the workbench and the junk on the floor, and stowed my generator for the non-hurricane season which starts in a couple weeks. I went to an evening barbecue yesterday, in the evening. Good chicken and ribs and potatoe salad.

Below is a picture of Lee Lee thee cat sleeping in a potted plant. It’s unusual because the wind was blowing quite strongly but I guess the shelter and comfort was sufficient.

Lee Lee napping in a gale

This morning is still quite cloudy and quite windy but but the weather should improve soon. Hopefully I can swim my half mile at lunch, rain or shine.

Have a good day and a better week!

Watta Weekend (So Far)

On Friday I went diving early and was home before the internet man came and supposedly fixed my internet. Then I trimmed the hedges, and mowed the front yard. I went to town and picked up a dozen 18×18 pavers so that I could double the size of the backyard patio below the apartments back porch. I also did a lot of shopping, running around and errands. Saturday I went diving again, and the sea was rough when we got in, and super rough and pouring rain when we got out.

Then, Saturday afternoon, in the rain, I laid the pavers down in the backyard, what which isn’t easy because they all have to be leveled.

My body is sore from so much physical exercise and bending over, and my left calf is very sore because diving Friday I had a very bad cramp just before I got out of the water. I feel all beat up but good.

Friday we did a good deep dive at the main wall and and Saturday we stayed kinda shallow at the mini wall (Different dive sites) and today is too rough and weathery for diving period.

There was an 800 Meter Sea Swim scheduled, that was canceled Saturday. There was a Coral Fest exhibition for Sunday that was canceled because of covid. The sea swim was previously canceled because of covid, and was canceled yesterday because of the weather.

Below are pictures in 2 groups, Below is Friday’s dive.

And below is Saturday’s dive!

Today is Sunday, but it’s not sunny at all. It’s cold and windy. And on-and-off-again rainy.

I had a weirdish breakfast, my bagels were frozen, so I had a pretzel instead. ( If the salt and pepper is on the other side of the eggs,)

Eggs over easy with a pretzel.

And I’ll talk to you tomorrow!
