Happy Summer!

Happy first day of summer! The longest day in the north, Shortest day in the south. First day of winter in tge southern hemisphere.
It starts at 5:34 Cayman time today

I like it better the two days the sun passes directly overhead in Cayman. It only happens in the tropics.

I got up this morning, walked to the sea and swam a little, walked home and showered, dressed, etc etc etc. Now I’m ready to go to work. Well, not ready, but I’m still going. My back still hurts when I bend over. Fon’t know what’s up, never hurt for this long before.

Well, have a good day, a good week and a good SUMMER!

A New Day!

I am excited about today. The weather is supposed to be nice and sunny during my lunchtime!

It’s one hour before sunrise. I’m on the back porch. The Crux is near the horizon in front of me and Leo is overhead, with Cancer just in front of that. The sky is just beginning to turn light.

Apparently, it rained last night. I sat down in a big  puddle of water that was in my chair. Had to go change my pants. Funny huh? The chairpuddle was an inch deep AFTER I sopped it up with my butt.

I heard there’s a problem leaving comments here. I’ll be looking into it today.

Have a great day, I plan on it!

Have a good day.

Happy First Day Of Summer (in the northern hemisphere) and Happy First Day Of Winter to everyone else!

At 11:39 local time this morning, 16:39 UTC, the sun will reach it’s northernmost point in relation to its orbit around the earth. Today is the longest day in the northern hemisphere and the shortest day of the year to everyone else.

To me it’s kind of a sad day because, well, ya know, the days are getting shorter. In reality though, it’s the first day of summer and the hottest part of the year is coming!

Speaking of the hottest time of year, yesterday we got a new hot tub. But I don’t think we’re goingo turn the heat on (yet)

Maybe when we get into the cold dark winter.

Have a good Sunday and a GREAT SUMMER! (in the northern hemisphere. Have a great winter everyone else)

My Very Eager Monkey Just Stole Ugly Neighbors Peanuts

I made that up, years ago so I could remember the order of the planets in our solar system.

The reason I was thinking about this is because this morning I was thinking about a photo I saw of Earth and the Moon, taken from Mars, and that I’d like to see one of Jupiter from Mars.

Right now I’m sitting outside, drinking coffee, looking at the Moon and Jupiter, side by side.

On Monday, this week looked insurmountable, now it looks like we might make it to the weekend.
Our houseguest leaves today.

First 2015 Weekend

It was a good weekend, they’re always good.

We have a visitor here from Minnesota. It’s super cold up there. She’s been sick. Yesterday was her first day at the beach.  I didn’t go, I was home, clearing the branches off trees that hang over into our yard. I cut a lot of wood! It made a huge difference in the back half of the back yard, it’s much brighter. Maybe some grass will grow there now.

Kinda not looking forward to work today, first full week of the year, first week in a few weeks. Hope it doesn’t seem too long, or too painful. The wife has the day off, she’s going to Rum Point with Martina, our guest.

I’m sitting here on the back porch, under an orange light bulb, watching the full moon go down behind the trees. It’s just starting to get light. Faint glow. Did you ever notice that in the winter the moon follows the path of the summer sun in the sky? And in summer the moon follows the path of the  winter sun? That’s why it’s winter here and summer in New Zealand.

I feel like I could go on for a long time, but that’ll do for today! Have a good week!

Week Flying By Like A Comet!

This week has flown by. I can’t believe it’s Thursday already.

I got my scooter back yesterday. It seems to be running OK now. Call me paranoid, but now it seems the brakes are worse. I’m not taking it back.

In the news, at the end of this year, we should see a comet in our skies. AND, if it survives it’s trip around the sun, we should be able to see it in the DAYTIME! I remember that comet in 1997, Hale Bopp it was cool.

Comet_Hale-BoppI remember looking at it, and it was weird, because it felt like looking at something that you couldn’t quite focus on properly. I didn’t have my binoculars then. I got ’em now! I hope we get to see it!

Today should be a good day at work. I’m looking forward to the weekend. Let’s go lets go lets GO!
