No More Slack

Daisy has been really good at her no barking training.. I decided to leave her out of her kennel while I went out last night.

I came home to a little dog party. Lenny was on the sofa, (not allowed) and Daisy was on hyperdrive, bouncing around like a madwoman in a pinball machine. Lenny just wants to be rebel badass and impress Daisy. The worst he can think of is getting on the couch.

Apparently, this newfound freedom caused Daisy forget she’s not supposed to bark in the house and her barking kept me up again.

All training forgotten in an instant.

I’m the one who has to stop thinking the dogs have learned or changed and stop cutting them slack. I’ve done it before and always tell myself not to do it again.

Oh well, they’re good dogs, They just need to be “managed”.

Cold, cloudy and windy here today. The temperature probably won’t even reach 80⁰.

Have a great day!

Another Great Weekend!

It was another fantastic weekend. I took the dogs to the beach, they loved it and were really well behaved. And then they had baths… One loved that more than the other. I won’t mention any names.

I got a lot of yardwork done. Mowing and ttranplanting houseplants and pulling weeds. I also picked up a whole huge bag of garbage from the roadside of our cul-de-sac, it looks a LOT better.

I finished an excellent book, a topic for another day.

I also had several really good yoga classes. (What’s amazing is how it makes your mind feel, even more than the body). Got all the laundry done and I also cooked out on the grill.

(I sound like a Suzy Homemaker )

It was a regular length weekend but seemed longer. Now it’s back to work, where I’m glad to be swamped.

Have a great week!

No Barking!

I’ve been trying to teach Daisy ‘no barking’ in the house for years, but now, the pressure is on. She barks at every bump and things you can’t even here. She acts offended that anyone would dare make noise, and goes charging off in a fury 9f growls and barks about 5 feet, then realizes she’s indoors and can’t do anything about it. Apparently she thinks she’s running the planet.

the apartment renters come and go several times a day, and Daisy still apparently doesn’t realize they are living here.. She barks and growls each and every time they come and go. I realized that she wakes me up from sleep multiple times a night, but I wake up and not realize it was her barking that was responsible.

She’s finally getting the idea and is trying real hard, but still has a long way to go.

Good Lenny and Daisy the source of all evil.

Lately, (since yesterday ) when Daisy goes off barking, I’ve been giving Lenny a treat. If I hear a bump and Daisy doesn’t bark, maybe they’ll both get treats.

Have a wonderful Day!

One Day Week

Today in my only workday this week. Tomorrow I head up to the USA

i spent the weekend getting the house and yard cleaned up for me to be gone. Mowed yard, decluttered the house, vaxuumed and swept and swabbed the decks. I washed the dogs. I have a house sitter staying here while I’m gone.

Below are pics of this mornings moonset and a no significant features sunrise.

Have a great week!

Bath Day

Here’s a pic of Lenny and Daisy. They had baths yesterday and feel really good.

Funny, normally I wash them on the back porch, ladies first, and Lenny can see what’s going on and try to avoid the bath. This time, I washed them downstairs in the front and Lenny was jealous Daisy and I were outside and he was alone indoors. When I opened the door he came bounding out excitedly. I wish I could have captured the look on his face when he realized it was bath time!

Both dogs resist a bath Lenny more than Daisy, but live it once it starts and afterwards.

have a great day and don’t forget to take your bath!

Good Daisy

On this morning’s walk, we encountered theee dog. He kind of headed the other way as soon as he saw us coming, barking in retreat. I stayed calm, telling Daisy “no barking, no pulling, good Daisy” and she was good. She seemed to politely observe him walking away.

Previously, I said he looked like a doberman / German Shepherd mix. On second glance, he’s just a brown mutt dog does not look like a doberman or a German shepherd. Just a West Bay dog. Not even as big as I thought.

Funny, isn’t it?

I’m not saying the problem is resolved between Daisy and the other dog, but today’s encounter was quite different than what was expected and previous encounters.

Yesterday at work was somewhat adventurous. A radio antenna on a vehicle broke and they needed a replacement. I have new radio kits with new antennas, but no spares. So after a few calls, I went and cannibalized one off an old fire truck.

It was fun. Above is me on an old truck and showing a newer truck.

Happy friday! Have a fantastic weekend!

The Dog Across The Street

there’s a dog across the street looks like Doberman / German Shepherd mix. Nice dog, I’ve petted him.

The problem is, my dog Daisy hates his guts. When she sees him all tameness and domestication leave her and she is total wildbeast. She will turn and bite anyone or anything. The Daisy we know and love is not in her head when she sees that other dog.

I’ve called the humane society, and they say she needs some training. I am skeptical. Every time she sees that dog I have thought she would bite me.

Last night I laid awake, worried about getting bitten (by Daisy) if we happen to see that dog.

Across the street is the back of a house. The dog stays mostly to the front of the house, so I seldom see him. But lately he’s been coming around more and more. I think there’s some territory war going on out there.

To me, Daisy is the problem the other dog doesn’t get all worked up Daisy goes complete werewolf, no domestication. Insane.

Cooking Weekend

Friday I made meatloaf . It was pretty good. Saturday I made tuna casserole except I used salmon instead of tuna. It was OK, except there were salmon vertebra in the canned salmon.. Somewhat unpleasant. I wouldn’t give it to anyone. Sunday I made a $35 brisket. All pre seasoned ready to go in the oven. It is so spicy I ate about two bites. I’m taking it for lunch today, but I’ll probably end up throwing the whole thing out.

Speaking of throwing things out, last Friday I bought new dog beds. Daisy already ate one. $90 I might as well have thrown away. She ate the last two too

It was a good weekend anyway . The sea yesterday was spectacular. No horizon. The boats were floating on nothingness.

I also trimmed the hedges and mowed the yard.

And now it’s Monday, and Canadian Thanksgiving. If my lunch is too foul I can go get a big turkey dinner!

Have a great week!

Cotton Bedsheets

I’ve been a world class insomniac for a few years now. I lay in bed thinking “this is incredibly uncomfortable*, but at the same time, unable to pinpoint any discomfort.

After a while, I realized I was burning up and freezing at the same time. I was hot, and clammy with sweat, but the sweat felt like a thin layer of ice over my whole body. Under a sheet, melting hot, no sheet, icy freezingness.

It occurred to me to check my sheets. I thought all sheets (except silk) were 100% cotton. No, mine were part plastic, some material I can’t remember the name of now. So I got some 100% cotton sheets, and it seems to make a difference. No more frozen fire sensation. Of course, we’re still in the testing phase.

Now if I could just get these dawgs to let me sleep!

Happy Hump Day!

Well, Coulda Been Worse, (Or Better!)

I got a speeding ticket this weekend. The more I think about it the more I’m going to go to court and plead not guilty. I got a ticket for overtaking a car in a 25 mph zone. Myself and a string of cars behind me were trapped behind this car for quite a long ways and at the first passing zone I passed the car and then got back in my Lane in front of the car the police gave me a speeding ticket because I was speeding while I was overtaking.

I don’t know if I mentioned it here, but I was going to Jamaica this week. However my animal sitter canceled and I have no replacement. I had arranged this particular pet sitter 3 months ago about, I’m guessing. In hindsight, I could tell she was going to cancel. She stopped communicating. And I got the impression she was hiding from me.

Went diving yesterday and saw a seahorse. Very disappointing.

I have been diving for a very long time, and never saw a seahorse until relatively recently. My imagination was better than the reality.

And now it’s a Monday, it was a pretty productive weekend. In addition to the above I cleaned the house and load the yard and did laundry. And washed the dogs!

Have a great week
