Wild wet windy weedy weekend

Wello. Another Monday is upon us. Here was a not-too-bad weekend. Saturday The Wife and I went shopping, and got some Bougainvillaea bushes and a new pan for cooking.

It’s a “Stir Fry” don’t call it a wok

I can’t remember what else we got. We stopped by the cigar store and I smoked one there. I meant to get a box to go, but somehow it slipped my mind. I looked at a box, good price, but only 12 cigars in a box. I like boxes with 25. We also looked at a new washer and dryer. (Uh on, the Wifes Brain wheels are spinnin’ like crazy, I can tell)… She got the whole thing planned out.

Then we came home, and I watched a little football. (I don’t give a rats ass after the Redskins coach murdered his team) The results and my hopes for next week are below.

I guess I gotta go for Baltimore. I hate all the other teams. I had a hard time picking San Francisco over Atlanta because I dislike them both immensely. SanFran because I thought Joe Montana was a weenie. Atlanta, because I’ve always disliked them. But I picked San Fran because of number 7 on their team. Don’t know his name. He was running and making some good plays. The winner of these two games plays the Super Bowl. Whoopie.

Sometime I have to tell you my NFL team philosophy, It’s quite insane.

Sunday I planted the bougainvillaeas in our solid bedrock yard. I tried using my one inch masonry drill to loosen up the ground and got it stuck solid in the ground. Then I had to use a pickaxe to get it free. Damn bougainvillaeas better grow.

And it rained Sunday, and we had a big power failure and I put houseplants outside and it immediately quit raining before they could get wet. AGAIN, like always.

That’s it for today, this dang post is too dang long!

Damn The Redskins Coach!

NFL Odds Divisional Playoff Games - NFL Football Odds NFL Odds Wild Card Playoff GamesRedskins lost. The quarterback Robert Griffin III got re-injured (in the first quarter? or second?) and the coach kept him in till he collapsed in the fourth quarter. You can say it’s not just the coaches fault, RG3 apparently wanted to stay in. But when you boil it down, it IS all the coaches fault.

I think that Kirk Cousins is an excellent quarterback, and if he was put in, (at the very latest the start of the second half) the Skins would have easily won.

I am so upset. The Redskins never get beat, they always beat themselves.

Here’s this weekends results and my next weekends hopes. Vegas got it 100% last week.

Yeay Washington Redskins!

In a very good game last night, The Washington Redskins beat Dallas!

The Regular season is over, and the playoffs are starting next week

Above, in Green, are my hopes for next week, in Red, are the results from yesterday.

It was hard to wake up this morning, I went to bed at about 12:30 and my alarm went off at 5:55.

In case anybody is wondering, Memory Monday will return at a later date.

Complaint: Washington vs Dallas game time.

wasvsdalI heard they moved the Washington Dallas game from 1 PM to 8:20 PM. Is this indeed true?

I think, moving the gametime gives an advantage to Dallas. Redskins never practice and seldom play at 8:20 at night, but 8:20 in Washington DC is closer to someone from Dallas’s “body clock” daytime play/practice time. It’s like taking away Washington’s home field advantage a little. (Redskins already played in Dallas this season, in Dallas’s time zone. Now it’s fair to play in Washington in Washington’s time zone.)

I never noticed an east coast Sunday game starting at night, it seems to me, it’s always a western game starting at about 8 PM EDT, which is earlier in the west, where the actual game is being played. I’m not including Monday Night Football…

Night football games have different statistics than day games, changing the gametime changes the odds and has an influence.

I wanted to go out someplace that had a big screen TV, have lunch and watch the game. I had even already asked the wife. I don’t want to stay out till probably after midnight on a weeknight. I don’t have a reason to be in a bar at night with a buncha drinkers. A restaurant in the daytime turns into a bar at night. I wanted to see the game at 1 in the afternoon. In the daylight. With my wife and some friends. With lunch. Moving it till night ruins it for me.

So, who is the “they” that made this decision? To me, “Prime Time” on a Sunday IS around 1pm. Not Sunday night at bedtime.

I don’t want to stay up till 11 or 12 when I have to get up for work the next day. I go to bed at 9. I wanted to see the game at 1.

I think changing the start time is suspicious, and gives Dallas an advantage while hurting Washington, so again I ask:

Who is the “they” that made this decision?

I betcha someone in Dallas had something to do with it.

Memory Monday – Christmas

pine-coneI remember living in South Carolina, where my sister was born. My Dad and I would take walks, and there were giant pine cones and Spanish Moss in the trees.I remember I found a cardboard arrow sign that said “Hot Dogs” on one side. I tried to write “Hot Dogs” on the other, but did it backwards. I didn’t understand what my parents meant when they said it was backwards, I though it was perfect, and here I was, writing before I could even write! But it was backwards, I drew the letters like the ink had soaked through the paper. I didn’t have the concept of writing in my head.

So one day, me and my Dad were out in the front yard on a warm South Carolina day, and I don’t know what we were doing, but my Dad said “You better be good, tomorrow’s Christmas”

I was completely surprised, I had no idea that Christmas was coming. Plus it was warm. You have to have cold and snow for a long time before you had to start thinking about Christmas. I remember thinking how out of touch I was to be unaware of Christmas the next day, and I remember thinking maybe my Dad was joking.

The next day I got that red bike from the post  couple days ago, with training wheels….

That was just about exactly 48 years ago today…. maybe 49…Damn.

It was kind of weird, celebrating Christmas AND Hanukkah all my life.

Below are my Tuesday NFL Football picks and the results, next weeks game, Redskins VS Dallas, will be the game of the year. I have friends going! C’mon WASHINGTON!!!

Tuesday American Football Post

WTF? No Monday Night Football this coming week?

NFL15 NFL16It wasn’t a bad week, football-wise. Skins won and Giants lost yeay. Dallas won, Booo. Three way tie for first place in the division. Why is there no Monday Night Football on my chart? We got a game on Saturday..

Friday. Party. Dreams.

Today it’s Friday, and although we already had our “official” Christmas Party for work, today is the unofficial one. The four in my division are going out to lunch. I hope we end up with an afternoon off early.

I had weird dreams last night. Running from the police in the halls of a building. “Stay with this guy, he knows how to get away”. But it was all slow motion. At one point I was in a waiting room with several people and every once in a while, a little weak police would come out and put cuffs on one of us and take him away.. I could leave easily but don’t. It’s one of those dreams that says “Something bad is going to happen, but you could avoid it easily”. One of those dreams that makes me feel weak and passive and used. One of my least favorite kinds of dreams.

I’m glad the Bengals beat Philly last night. I didn’t watch, but I followed on my phone till halftime. When I was a kid, the Bengals practiced in Wilmington, Ohio, where my Mom grew up. I was a kid and we went to one of their practices. So I like the Bengals.

Anyway, have a good weekend!

Turkey Day Week

I didn’t realize it, but this is Thanksgiving week. I didn’t realize it when I agreed to go to the Brac on Thursday. I had to decline my invitation for turkey dinner, and I’ll probably be working till 8PM. We have a big audit this week, and from what I’ve heard about the last one, this will be Hell Week

The Wife is in Miami to see Madonna In Concert, She’ll be back Thursday and I won’t be there to pick her up at the airport.

It was a short weekend, Saturday I took The Wife to the airport, Sunday I  mowed the yard. I can’t remember much else. I miss her. Last night I woke up , hot, I figured I’d open the window more to let more breeze in, then I thought, am I an idiot? opening the window? I wonder if I’m crazy, wanting to open the window. I need to ask the wife.

Redskins won, I didn’t watch. I checked the score on my phone every once in a while while I was mowing. They play Dallas on Thursday as well, another event I’ll be missing..

I went to bed last night about 10:30, and it was hard to wake up this morning.

Re reading this, it sounds like I have a bad case of the Monday Morning Blues,

Another Monday

It was a nice weekend. I was going to mow the yard, but this fella I had given my old mower to walked by with his unsavory helper and they ended up doing it for me for a very reasonable price. Then later, I think the unsavory helper came back and stole about 20 cinderblocks from my side yard. Our dang dawgs bark so often that neither us or the thieves pay any attention.
Then last night I dreamed about how you could drown by falling into a barrel of water.
It was a pretty uneventful weekend. Which was good. We got some rain and sun, both good. Redskins lost again.
Aw dammit! crappy weekend! Everything sucks! Skins lost. Just kidding. I’m beyond caring already about the NFL.
Have a great week!

NFL Football Season is OVER (for me)(maybe)

American football sucks so bad I’m getting ready to quit watching for the season. I’ve never been to a Washington Redskins game where they lost. I’ve only been to three or four. Conversely, I’ve seldom seen them win on television. Maybe three times, and I’ve watched hundreds of games. It seems pretty safe to say that if I watch, they lose, and if I don’t watch, they win. I DID see them win week 1 this year, and I felt so good.

Also the refs cheat. Yesterday they’d call penalties on the Redskins, but not the Bengals. Near the end of the game yesterday, Redskins threw a long pass. Two Bengals tripped the Redskin receiver, blatant pass interference and no penalty. The crowd was booing and the announcers were amazed. Then on the last plays of the game, there were about three penalties against the Redskins, it was something like 4th down and 45 yards to go, and the announcers were saying they didn’t know what the penalties were for or who (on the Redskins team) they were against.

I know I don’t effect* the outcome of the game simply by watching, but watching my team lose over and over is disheartening. Many times I have turned on the game late, and the Redskins will be ahead, only to start screwing up as soon as I turn on the set. I know I don’t control it but it seems that way, after years and years of watching.

The Redskins always lose by A: Getting screwed by the Refs, or B: Making stupid mistakes and beating themselves. Of all the games I’ve seen the Redskins lose, I’ve NEVER seen anybody beat them.

A good friend and fellow Redskins fan said yesterday, “As a longtime Redskins Fan, I know that sinking feeling too well”.

Yeah, me too.

*I still don’t know, even after looking it up.
