Screen House Garden

Above are yesterdays pictures of the plants in the “Screen House”. Top left are some giveaway plants. They are really nice as when it rains, they hold a drop of water in their petals like a jewel. They grow well under almost all conditions and turn red after time in the sun. Top right is a wide angle shot that shows almost everything going on inside the Screen House.

Bottom left are radishes, beans and broccoli. I think they’re growing too slow, probably not enough light. Bottom right is cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. They seem healthy, but are holding steady and not growing much. Maybe not enough light. There’s a huge poinciana tree there that I wish I had planted at the side of the yard instead of the center. I trimmed it back I thought too far but it comes back thicker and thicker.

Dodged the bullet again on jury duty yesterday. I saved my own butt. I don’t have to report again until next week.

Aaaaand its almost FRIDAY!!

Enjoy!

Weekend Wrapped Up.

Let me start by saying, I binge-watched Stranger Things season 4. It was quite good. Worth watching, definitely.

Yesterday, went diving, below are pictures, with captions, of course.

Ava the avocado tree in the ground!

Above, you will see a tree for which I dug a whole hole, twice as deep as it needed. I put a lot of good potting soil underneath. The tree is a she, and her name is Ava the Avocado tree.

And now, it is Monday, and I must again report for jury duty. I am not looking forward to it. Hopefully I can dodge that bullet again.

Have a fantabulous week!

Pretty Caterpillars

There was a whole slew of giant caterpillars eating one of my trees. Here’s a short video. The big ones were 7 or 8 inches long. Most were big.

I sprayed them yesterday. I may have to spray again in a few weeks but I think not. I did not enjoy killing sushi pretty things but the tree’s life has value too.

Happy Friday! Happy Constitution Day weekend! Coincidentally this year, American 4th of July falls on the same day. Monday is a holiday here and in the USA.

Also this weekend is Cayman Carnival! That’s gonna be fun!

Have a great weekend!

Ants On Flowers

Yesterday I took these pictures using macro mode on my phone camera. I think it works surprisingly well, I think these are borderline quality because the camera wasn’t close enough.

Last night I started a 4 week meditation workshop. It was interesting. Lots of talk about bran parts and nerves and scientifically how it works. Among other things, I discovered that I can’t sit cross legged as long as I need to. It should prove to be a very beneficial class, if I apply what I learn. Meditation has been, I think, a weak point in my recovery program.

today is.payday, yeee haw!

Have a wonderful day!

Beets and Lettuce (And Peppers)

new anti cat/chicken lid

Back to work today. I’m glad to be back on my routine.

This long weekend I built another anti cat, anti chicken lid for one of the planters. When I get done, all three will have them. The original, which is probably over 10 years old, is being refurbished, planter and lid.

I transplanted my beet and lettuce sprouts in the grower yesterday. I hope they survive. I’ve got peppers on the back porch. I put them in my pasta sauce and my salads . I’m going to have to start giving them away..The lettuce I can really use, lettuce is expensive here!

I have a house and yard full of plants. More coming!

Have a good rest-of-the week!

Queens Jubilee Monday

Today is our last day off for the Queens Jubilee. Looking forward to her 80th

It doesn’t seem like it was a long 4 day weekend.

It’s not cloudy now, and the wind isn’t howling , but it was all weekend. My friends who tried to go diving couldn’t, seas were too rough.

I did some yard work, I am making anti chicken covers for the planters out front . Just a screen lid really. Pictures of them coming later. Below is a picture of the plants in my house that I took this morning. There’s more in the picture than it looks like, and there’s more not in the picture. Lots more. I keep splitting them up so I can sell them, but I never see them

I hope you will have a very nice week.

Happy Day-Before-Friday!

TGTF Thank Gawd Tomorrow’s Friday!

I bought a new big pot yesterday and re-potted the plant from yesterday. Practically an identical pot, but green.

I’ve had a new hobby for the past month or so that I’m really REALLY enjoying. It’s called “leave my phone in the car and not look at it for hours at a time.” It’s GREAT! I recommend you try it!

My pepper is growing nicely. I am a little concerned though, it’s not looking like a bell pepper.

Maybe it will “Shape Up”

If it’s not a bell pepper, I don’t care, but that’s what was on the bag of seeds

Have a great Thursday, see ya tomorrow!

Pepper #1!

My first pepper 🫑 is on its way! There’s more coming too! I’m surprised to be getting peppers because the plant is still so small.

It’s back to work today. It’s been very sunny after all the weather apps prediction of rain rain rain.

Have a great week!

Some Underwater Photos

Its Discovery Day, a holiday Monday here in Cayman. It was supposed to rain for 10 days but it’s been mostly sunny. Hurt at last two of my low light plants pretty badly. I out them out for rain and they got sunburnt.

Below are pictures from yesterdays dive.

Also, on Saturday, I did the CIASA 800M Swim, I was pleasantly surprised to come in 3rd in my age category, willing a 3rd place medal. 3rd out of 5. I’ve never been a racer, I’ve never been on a swim team. I’ve been a lifeguard and swimming lesson teacher and scuba diver/instructor. I realized I am slow and steady,.one speed no matter how far I have to go. So I’m no longer obsessed about going fast, I want the t-shirt.

Anyway, have a fantastic week!

Planets In A Row

I saw this this morning.

This morning, I got up and went outside and saw the exact same thing as in the picture above.

it was very cool. Already, at 5 till 5 in the morning, the sky is starting to get pink.

Tomorrow and Monday are holidays here, so this is the start of a long long weekend.

I got a perfect score on my Duolingo this morning, to make up for yesterday.

Jamaica Apple Tree

I’m worried about my Jamaica Apple Tree, pictured above. It seems to be unhappy, lots of brown leaves and not many new ones Are there any botanical doctors out there in my zillions of readers?

Have a good weekend! I may or may not post tomorrow. Havva good-un!
