Lincoln Lawyer

Last night the Wife and I watched the movie “The Lincoln Lawyer”, it was quite good. Highly recommended to see in the theater or on TV.

Lawyer’s defending a client for assault and finds out he’s guilty. Also, his client framed someone for the assault. AND he enjoys seeing innocent people go to jail for his crimes. AND he’s done it before. Super good. Much better than expected.

Thursday. Nice day. I feel like taking the car instead of motorcycle though. don’t really know why. Traffic. Parking. Everything’s a hassle with a car. Motorcycle’s the way to go.

We’ll see.

Plain Ol’ Americans

Cam Newton, quarterback for the American football team the Carolina Panthers, says he’s an African American quarterback, and that people are afraid of him. Funny, I didn’t know he was born in Africa, migrated to the US and became an American citizen. In my life, I have knowingly only met one African American. He was born in Zimbabwe, moved to the US, got a green card, nd later got full citizenship. And he’s a white guy. Sorry Cam, you’re just a plain ‘ol American, just like most Americans. And you’re a great quarterback, hope your team wins the Super Bowl!

It’s been my observation, that many Caribbean black people think it’s funny that American black people want to be called African Americans, because it’s not true. African Americans moved from Africa and became citizens, and it has nothing to do with skin color.   

Yesterday, I rode the scooter for the first time in about two weeks. The weather forecast had predicted rain every day till yesterday. Tonight, it’s supposed to start raining again, and rain all weekend. I hope I can make it home again this afternoon before it starts raining. The scooter was super hard to start yesterday, I was ready to give up when it finally came to life.

Internet Down Mostly

It’s been frustrating around here lately. The internet has, for all intents and purposes, been down for days. It was up briefly last night, at about three quarter speed, but mostly it”s been what I call down. Even an email message takes an eternity to load.

I’m paying for 10 Meg per second download speed, and lately it’s been about 300 or 700K. Every six months, I have to call the company, and it’s a nuisance.

The weatherman has been calling for rain every day for the past few weeks or so, but we haven’t been getting much rain. Now the weatherman is saying sunny today, and rain tommorrow, so I’m riding the scooter today. It will be the first time since week before last.

Sheba went to the vet yesterday, she won”t put her right rear foot down. The doctor found liquid on her hip, an infection, apparently. Sheba has to take a whole pile of pills three times a day, and you can tell she doesn’t feel good.

Tuesday hump day!

It’s Tuesday on a short week.

Today my father in law arrives. My wife and i are going to give them the “good bed” and sleep on an air mattress.

It was very hard to wake up this morning. I think I was chasing a frog in a dream.

I’m drinking coffee and it’s very good.

Yesterday I took the car, because it was supposed to rain. It was sunny all day. Today it’s scooter, no matter what! I feel so “mortal” in the car, stuck in traffic with the common folk. On the scooter, I go around and through like a ghost.

Hope I don’t get wet!

Tuesdays Dinner Party

Last night we had a small cookout for my wifes best friends dads birthday. I cooked a whole tenderloin, AKA a 7 pound filet mignon, on the barbecue.

I gotta say, it came out beautifully. First i put the potatoes on high for a while. Then I put the meat on, still on high, for 5 minutes. Then I turned it over for 5 minutes. Then i put the grill on low and turned it over every 15 minutes for about an hour and fifteen.

Before I started, I was stressed about screwing it up, but after a while, I started to get the good feeling. Then I was worried about the potatoes. They were good too.

I’m pretty sure everyone got enough to eat.

Now it’s hump day. I’m riding the scooter, first time in weeks!

Mexico Hit With Seaweed

I’ve been watching this for the past couple of weeks on the Akumal beach webcam, there’s a link in the menu bar above. Usually it’s one or two guys out in the morning with rakes and a wheelbarrow, but nowadays it’s a dozen guys and big truck after big truck backing onto the beach hauling it away. There’s still more floating at sea.

Check out the webcam, it’s not too bad today, I think the news was over before it made the news. Monday there was seaweed all the way to the tree closest to the water, and piled high!

Yesterday I ran out of gas on my scooter. I forgot. A couple days ago, I remember looking at a quarter tank, thinking “I’ll need gas tomorrow”.Then yesterday the engine started cutting out and the fuel gauge was on “E” the engine died at the light right next to the Rubis gas station. It took $6.25 to fill! That’s a lot for my scooter, usually $5 is max.

Wednesday Words

Wednesday Words?? Crappy title.

Today I’m taking my mower to the lawnmower doctor.

I put it in the car last  night and poor poor Sheba thought we were going somewhere.

It seems a shame. I take the mower in the car, then I’m stuck with the car all day instead of the motorcycle. Being on the motorcycle was good yesterday!

Our tree is finally getting some orange in it. It needed that rain last week. Most of the similar trees in town have been  orange for a long time. Town gets more rain.

I don’t have anything to post about. Brain not working, I guess. I’m still on my first cup of coffee.

Finally Friday

I’m glad it’s Friday.
Monday I start a school for work. I’ll be in Miami all next week.
Hurricane season hasn’t even started and there’s a storm out there. Tropical Storm Ana.

Yesterday it was nice and sunny. Today should be the same. I’m riding the scooter to work for the first time in over a week.

I ordered an espresso tool from eBay. It is like one my Mother-In-Law has.  I love it. I am excited.

It has a scooper on one end and a tamper on the other. Greatest thing since sliced bread!

Two Days Till Thursday

Well, Monday is gone. now it’s Tuesday. payday is day after tomorrow.

Last night we went to dinner at Macabuca. It was pretty good food and there was a nice sunset.

Yesterday in town it rained hard almost all day. West Bay didn’t get drop. I couldn’t go on my beach lunch yesterday because of the rain and I was on the scooter. Now it’s nice and clear but I wonder it’s going to rain again today. 30 percent chance haha!

We’ve had a new coffee maker now for about a week. I suppose it makes acceptable coffee. It is one of those Keurig kinds with the canister.

My studying has been going extremely slow. I’m afraid I’m going to have to get up even earlier in order to study and accomplish anything.
