Worse than Dawg food!
A couple of days ago, I went to the grocery store and all my dawgs food was gone. My dawg gets half a can of wet food every night, and all the crunchies he wants. Normally, he gets Alpo with gravy, the same kind that is being recalled. I had already checked the batch numbers and none of them matched, but I rekkon the grocery store didn’t check and just yanked that brand. So last night he had his first taste of the new food, chicken flavor. It smelled pretty good, and even looked like chicken (Alpo’s always the same color, no matter what flavor it is). My Dawg loved it! He really liked it a lot, I could tell.
Then it was dinner time for the OI Girl and me. In the fridge was some leftover Cous cous, (which looks kinda like rice with both ends cut off each individual rice granule), that the IO Girl made, and a lunchtime type beef stew, that you’d take to work and microwave. so I figured we’d have some leftovers and I plopped the cous cous and the stew in a pan and put it on low. It didn’t look so good, so I added a squirt (or three) of super-hot sauce, just to give it some color. And some pepper. and some Jerk seasoning. It still looked yukky and smelled pretty bad too.
Let me make a long story short. At one point, I referred to the conglomeration as mucous. The low-end dog food both looked and smelled way better. the OI girl looked a little scared, and I had visions of her telling her parents about this meal and this made me start laughing so hard I ended up practically crying, then the OI Girl started laughing too. The dog was looking at us like we were crazy.
We ended up dumping the whole mess and went out for Chineese food.
No significant features
It’s Wednesday, hump day split shift.
The weather is still strange, or so it seems to me, anyway. it has been very breezy, but the weather report says “No significant features” which to me is the best kind of weather report. Except the wind is very warm and I can hear the waves from my apartment, which means that they waves are relatively big.
My Cactus is gettng a big red flower on it and I’ll post some pics of that when it opens. My pepper plants have 4 peppers on them too!
Things are going pretty good, nonews is good news.
Doom!
I left my cell phone at home. All my numbers, my calendar and more than 50% of my brain is on my phone. I’m going to have to run home and get it, at the cost of my primo parking spot!
Doom!

beach day
Now it’s Sunday Morning, I slept a little late this morning and now I’m waiting for coffee and then I’ll start studying.
My rebreather is broken, I am missing an O2 Cell. There are none on the island. Apparently there is a bad batch and they are being recalled. I have new cells and one is bad. It reads a PO2 of 1.59 all the time and never changes on my handset. Therefore it won’t calibrate and therefore it won’t go into dive mode.
I guess today will be a beach day.
Lucky Me
Yesterday, I was trying to be grateful that I only had to work a few hours and not a full day yesterday. It wasn’t happening, I didn’t feel too grateful. (It ended up being a full day of work anyway).
Last night, I was looking at my calendar, trying to figure what time I worked Sunday, and there was nothing on my calendar for Sunday. I called my boss and found out I’m not working after all! Yippeee! I thought I was working and I’m not! That is great, like finding money in the laundry!
Kinda Friday
It’s kinda Friday, tomorrow is a Holiday! I’m working though. Also Monday is a holiday, I’m working then too. And Sunday. But Hey! I’m off Saturday!
Last night we cooked hamburgers on the grill. They were good. Also we watched a movie called “The Holiday”. It was good too. (It was her idea)
Not much to post about today
Last night I went out to dinner with the OI Girl and a friend of a friend who is visiting the island. I had never met her before and we went to Guy Harveys restaurant. It was pretty good. I had a steak. Then we dropped her off and went home and went straight to bed and sleep. Then I woke up at 3:30 to study and the neighbors were just getting home. I don’t miss that one bit!
There was a beautiful sunrise this morning and I have a split shift today.
Also today I’m paying the 50% deposit for the blueprints to my house!
Wild Alaskan
Last night I stopped by the grocery store and got some salmon. They had two kinds, plain ol’ salmon, $8.50-ish a pound and “Wild Alaskan Salmon” $11.50-ish a pound. I opted for the Wild Alaskan. I got it home and was getting ready to put it on the grill, I noticed it had a lot of bones. So I took a pair of pliers and pulled them all out, one by one. It was kind of like pulling out nails, but easier, and I used pliers instead of a hammerclaw. I always have pliers in the kitchen, they’re handy for a lot of things, like hot pots an’ pans, pulling fishbones and whatnot.
The Salmon came out pretty dang good. I bet the plain ol’ wouldn’t have had any bones though. I should have gotten some of each and had a comparison, both bone content and taste.
I gave my dog some salmon too, raw.
