Since the last sea swim, I haven’t been doing much lunchtime swimming. We had a couple weeks bad weather with extensive damageto the ladders and the rinse off facilities, and laziness/motivation issues. Extra busy at work…
Yesterday was the second time I swam in about the last three weeks.
It was really good to swim yesterday. Enjoyable during and after the swim.It has to be priority again.
I have to stop with the three “It’s” in bed Twitter, Tumblr and TikTok. It keeps me awake too late. Sometimes almost 10:30 or 11. I don’t have any other social media, (except unused LinkedIn.)
I need sleep. More sleep, better sleep all sleep. I like to read, but the phone gets in the way of reading, book in hand, phone on book. By the time I put the phone down, there’s not time to read.
i gotta try to get control .
It’s very cold and winds from the north again this morning. I went to my swim spot yesterday and it was very rough. I think I’ve swam twice in the past 2 months.
I usually walk to the sea during my morning dog walk. I stand there and try to make a memory for the day that I can come back to. Part of my prayer/meditation/get my head on straight morning routine. Several times a week, I swim during my lunch break. I usually swim 800 meters, half mile.
it occurred to me this morning that the Caribbean Sea of my morning walk is not the same Caribbean Sea as my lunch time swims. In the morning, the sea is something to cling to, for comfort, safety and peace of mind. At lunch, the sea is more like a companion, “let’s go, you and me buddy”.
Yesterdays swim was excellent . Challenging. The swell was from the south, current from the north. The wind on my face told me to swim north . I swam down and back, and had about 715 meters. To get my 800 meters, out to the parked dive boat for the extra distance. Swimming back from the boat, the current was very strong against me. At first the bottom was not moving in accordance to my swim strokes. I had to put some extra reach and stretch into it to get going again. It was excellent.
The sea and I were communicating. The wind told me which way to swim first. The sea spoke and I was glad to be able to answer.
I intended to swim 800 meters, I actually swam about 913 eters. 999 yards.
i wish I swam that extra yard! Hope I get to swim again today!
today is the bank holiday for the Kings birthday. Happy Birthday!
I’m off today.
It was qgood weekend. Friday i played pickleball, it was an informed, fun tournament. We (my pickleball partner Eden and I) played against some very good players.
Saturday was the mile sea swim. Below are my only pictures Random of the starting area and me and a swimmer named Harper who came in first female overall. I didn’t know i was chatting with the champion before the race!
Yesterday, i loaded up and headed out to go diving, but i mis read the calendar and the dive I was looking for was last week So I had a big breakfast and came home and took a nap. It was a good idea!.
Now it’s a Monday morning, I’m working on my first cuppa coffee and the sky is the limit for today.
I had a nice weekend. Saturday i took it easy in the morning and swam the 800 meter race in the afternoon. I came in second in my age group, which is good for me. i did it in about 19.minutes 10 seconds, but forgot to stop my monitor at the end. The blue and black pic shows my pace, and you can see when I stopped. It was a rough swim with a waves in the face second half.
Yesterday I did my morning Ashtanga class, then a breakfast and coffee, beach, and cleaned the inside of my car while the dawgies played in the yard.
Itsa Wednesday, I feel a calm, which isn’t bad, but the same calmness seems to be preventing me from coming up with a topic for today. It’s like I’m too lazy to stir the thought pot and nothing visible from here seems interesting. Maybe it’s simply NOT ENOUGH COFFEE YET! Maybe it’s Zen.
I haven’t been able to swim at lunchtime for the past two days. Monday the waves were hitting the wall and blasting 15 feet in the air. Yesterday was greatly impoved but still large swells not swimmable. Today should be the day!
There have been high clouds the past few days, and last night was cool and breezy. (Another nice night with no AC needed)
Everything looks clear on the horizon. No news is good news, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, all’s well that ends well, etcetera etcetera amen.
I love this Garmin so far. Swim-able fitness tracker, dive computer Basically, with the app, you can install almost any programs on the watch you want. No touchscreen, but after getting used to it, I’m not missing it.. AND! the Samsung’s screens would go dark while swimming, due to the alleger water lock mode, i can look and see how far I’ve swam whilst I’m swimming! Genius! So I can measure my distance live without waiting till I get back to the phone to see how far I swam!
Love it!
Today would have been my 14th wedding anniversary.
March is almost over, unbelievably, and soon the sea swim season starts. I’ve been training and am looking forward to a good sea swim year.
Above is yesterday’s half mile.
I’m looking forward to a quiet day at work. One guy on holiday and another on travel. My van is in the shop for 100K maintenance, so it’s a scooter day. I haven’t been riding much lately.
