Pickleball and Tacos

Pickleball lesson #1 was really fun. I had never seen a ball or paddle before. The ball is like a whiffleball and the paddle is best described as an oversized ping pong paddle. It was fun and easy and I’m looking forward to the next lesson and can see myself playing regularly.

After the lesson, we went to a new place Taco Cantina. It was very good..

The Cayman Islands needed a place like this.

Tonight the Cayman Islands Roundup starts, 14th annual. I’ll be there at noon today setting up my sound and recording equipment for a full weekend of AA Speakers and workshops and events.

Have a great weekend!

Wendys Combos

The other day I went to Wendys, I seldom go to any fast food places, but I felt like using the drive thru. I ordered the #9 combo, grilled chicken sandwich. An outrageous $9.35. I placed my order, the man in the speaker box replied “Do you want medium or large combo?” I said I didn’t know what that meant, it wasn’t on the menu.. The speaker voice asked if I wanted a medium fries and soda or a large fries and soda?” I repeated, “I don’t know, I only see one thing on the menu, #9 combo, $9.35.” “Ahhh,” said the voice in the box, “you want the small combo.”

So, I ordered a sepcific thing, the employee automatically tried to give me an item more expensive than I requested, (and the item I requested wasn’t even presented as an option.)

Isn”t that illegal? Bait and switch? Racketeering? It’s gotta be illegal. Another reason not to eat fast food too often. they try to rip people off, so less people go, so they need to rip off the remaining customers even worse.

Anyway, I’m off to work again, Happy Tuesday!

International Taco Day 2022

Yeah! International Taco Day again! I hope you get to enjoy many many tacos today!

I’m glad today that jury duty is over. I was in a funk yesterday. The world is a much better place today.

i had a small harvest from the garden yesterday afternoon.

i just washed them and ate them. That carrot is about 3 inches long! Huge.

And I’m off to work. Have a great day!

Queens Funeral Day

Today is the holiday for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. I watched lot of it, till they put the casket in the hearse.

it was a good, busy weekend. Saturday was the first session of four session Home Gardening Course. It was good and informative.

yesterday i went to an 0700 yoga class at One Heart then diving,

pike blenny

In the afternoon I went out on a boat trip to Stingray City.. My stingray pictures are still on the camera, but here’s the sunset

Had a big beef sausage and egg breakfast this morning and not i’ll probably putz around the yard today.

Cast Iron

I picked a batch of bananas last week Their type is called botlers. They are more like a plantain than a banana. Everyone on my street has a big bunch from my batch. They’re good if you cook them in a frying pan with a little oil. My Teflon pan wasn’t very good for this and someone recommended a cast iron skillet. So I went out and got one.

It is so good, I don’t think I will ever use my old non-stick pans any more. Tonight I had eggs and turkey sausage for dinner, cooked in the cast iron.

Went diving today, rough with a lot of current, but still good.

Now its back to work Monday, and report for jury duty again

Have a fantastic week!

Moonrise Moonset

Moonrise last night.

last night I went out to dinner at Tukka with some friends visiting from Virginia. I took the above picture of the full moon rising.

Moonset this morning.

This morning, I took the above shot of the moon going down. Amazing, huh?

People always think it’s the sun in the day and the moon at night, actually the moon is up in the day half the month and up in the night the other half. Last night started the night moon half.

I am glad its Friday. Yardwork weekend and diving are my hopes for the weekend.

Have a very good day and weekend. I wish you the best!

Guava Cat Pee

I came home yesterday afternoon and thought the litter box was stinking. I keep it pretty clean anyway and it didn’t seem too bad. I figured the cat peed outside the box somewhere, but all inspections revealed nothing unusual.

Finally I realized, it was one of the two guavas a friend had given me. One was “over”, I threw it out the back door. The other seemed pretty good so I cut it in half, delicious looking beautiful pink. I took a bite.

It tasted like smelly armpit.

I threw it out the back door too.

The cat pee smell is gone too. Not sure how I feel about guavas anymore..

Have a great day!

Beets and Lettuce (And Peppers)

new anti cat/chicken lid

Back to work today. I’m glad to be back on my routine.

This long weekend I built another anti cat, anti chicken lid for one of the planters. When I get done, all three will have them. The original, which is probably over 10 years old, is being refurbished, planter and lid.

I transplanted my beet and lettuce sprouts in the grower yesterday. I hope they survive. I’ve got peppers on the back porch. I put them in my pasta sauce and my salads . I’m going to have to start giving them away..The lettuce I can really use, lettuce is expensive here!

I have a house and yard full of plants. More coming!

Have a good rest-of-the week!

The Ten Dollar Olive

Last night I bought a jar of olives. It was over $8 CI dollars which is over $10 US dollars. I came home, opened the jar and ate exactly one olive. I turned and noticed something had fallen into the sink. I turned back and saw a bug swimming in the liquid in the jar of olives. I tried to fish it out with the fork I was holding, but he went under. A second later, the bug popped to the surface and began swimming again. I successfully fished it out where it promptly died.

After some thought, I decided to dump the olives. I couldn’t have eaten them without thinking about that bug swimming in them. I wonder, if somehow, that bug was in there alive all the way from the manufacturer. It doesn’t seem possible but I hadn’t noticed any flies or anything around my kitchen, and I only looked away for a second. Did I see it pop to the surface and start swimming when I looked back from the sink? Did it actually dive under when I tried to fish it out with the fork? Or did I push it under? Was it a housefly or some kind of water bug?

I really like those expensive good olives, and was quite disappointed. However, I feel like I made the right decision by throwing them away.

And there you have it. My post for the day. Have a pleasant day.

Weekend Fantastique!

I had a good weekend! Saturday I went out for breakfast and lunch. Did some yard work and gardening. The internet cable job is done. Finally.

Sunday I went diving and a remora tried to attach itself to me. Quite, no, extremely annoying. He finally attached to my fin and I left him there. Better my fin than my leg.

Here is a link to a short video of the remora on my fin. And below are some pictures.

Above is a picture of the beach in downtown George Town. I stopped by to look for some sea glass.

Last night I went to a presentation on Blackwater Diving. That’s diving in the open ocean at night. By open ocean, it was presented by Don Fosters I mean not on a reef, off a boat in a bottomless sea. I didn’t take pictures of their pictures, but I did see Jessika’s scuba instructor and took a selfie to send her.

Me and Nick at Don Fosters.

And, if I was still married, today would be my 13th wedding anniversary. She’s been gone almost a year.

And now itsa backa to-a work-a. That’s supposed to sound Italian.

Have a great week!
