Sand Castle Contest

Actually it was a Sand ‘Sculpting’ Contest, which is probably why I did not see any castles! But it was fun and I think I’ll get into it next year. Because they need some castles.

It was so cold, they were building igloos!

I had a good time, but now it’s time for grocery shopping and then back to the beach!
My dive buddies cancelled.

Same title, different week

Every Friday I tend to think of the same title, TGIF! But that would be unoriginal. Fridays, the day I kind of want to take it easy at work and get all rested up for the weekend, tend to be one of the busiest days. But me, ever the optimist, (insert snicker snicker here) still hope and plan for and easy day. Wish me luck.
Tomorrow there is a Sand Castle building contest. If I don’t go diving, I may go and take pictures. Last time, we broadcast from there. Imagine, if you will, what it must be like, listening to a sand castle building contest on the radio. TV maybe, but radio? I don’t think so! This is my boss’s idea of an outside broadcast. Of course, I don’t really complain too much, because I like to go to the beach. If it was on a weekday, it would be much better, because then I could go diving on Saturday. So far, my boss hasn’t said anything about this alleged broadcast, but it is anticipated, followed by a repeat of my “I need more advance notice, I have already made other plans” speech. Then I (heroically and at great personal expense, of course!) cancel my alleged plans and do the broadcast.

I didn’t dive yesterday, my buddy was working on his boat. I took my dog to the beach and went snorkeling. I took a few pics too:

A red fish, his eyes really looked like that.

A cruise ship leaving into the sunset.

Taking the jet skis home for the evening.

If it wasn't for good days…….

…We couldn’t have bad ones!
I went to the dentist yesterday and I wasn’t missing a filling, the tooth was broken. There was decay under the filling and the tooth got weak. You can see it in the X-Ray from my 6 month check up a month or so ago, but my dentist apparently didn’t see it. (ya right . . . AGAIN!!!) I guess it’s time to switch dentists. The emergency dentist fixed it, but I have to go back and have it re-checked.
Then I was driving to lunch and somebody ran his car into the back of mine. But it didn’t do anything to mine and mashed his hood up pretty good. He kind of drove his under mine. I let him go.
Then I had a pretty good beach lunch and the talk show went pretty well. Here’s a pic of me at the talk show:

Then I was ready to go and one of the computers went haywire. There was a problem with the licensing for the server, and it wouldn’t let us in, although the date showed a good license. I ended up reinstalling the software and license info and got it working OK. Then because the problem was actually with another computer because it couldn’t access the server, I had to do what it needed to do after I got the server running.

But all’s well that ends well. It was still a good day. Today I plan on another after-work dive!

Good day yesterday!

I had a really good day yestderday, I got a lot done at work, I went to the beach for lunch, and then after work I went diving, first time (hey! that’s the name of my blog!) in almost a month! It was a great dive, nothing spectacular, just the fact that I was diving was spectacular enough for me! I took a few pics, none really post worthy, but here they are:

A squirellfish
Some weird shaped tube sponges:It was quite dark at the end of the dive, I turned off the flash and the shutter stayed open for about a second. You can see my two dive buddies. Lousy shot. Its blurry because it was darker than it looks here and we were moving while the shutter was open. that’s Duncan on the left and Ian on the right.A conch, you can see a little bit of the creature inside. hiding.

And the same conch, how it looks from the front. His eyes will poke out here if he’s not retracted in his shell. This is what a conch looks to another conch when they’re talking to each other: : “Hi! Hows it going?” “Not bad, but I wish I could get this crud off the back of my shell”

Then when I got home I made a frozen pizza and noticed I was missing a piece of a filling in my tooth. I think I lost it while I was eating the pizza. it doesn’t hurt or anything, but I can’t stop poking it with my tongue. I’ll be making a dental appointment today. The pizza was perfect though. Durn good.

Today is my split shift day, I plan on having a goooood long beach lunch two hours!

So Happens It’s Tuesday!
I don’t know what I’m going to post about today. The votes as I counted them yesterday came out 9 beard, 6 no beard. Interesting. I used to grow a beard every winter when I lived in the colder climate. then I had just a moustache for years after I got the scar above my lip (fighting) I couldn’t shave without cutting myself for a long time, so I had a moustache. I didn’t mind the goatee/beard/moustache, except when I got out of the sea, then it was annoyingly crusty. Plus it drives me crazy that I play with it all the time. And mostly, I just don’t feel like a person who has a beard or goatee or anything. That was the first time I ever had a goatee and not a full beard. In the navy once I let my beard grow really long! It was cool! But most importantly, every time I have ever grown a beard and shaved it off, I notice that it seems like my chin has shrunk a little. I don’t want to loose my chin!
I can’t find the key to my bike lock. I was going to ride today but where is that dang key? I bet I could find the spare, but I want the original, it is usually kept on the handlebars and I wonder if it fell off somehow. I put the bike in back of my car yesterday and rode from the car repair place to work. (My drivers side window came out of the track, and I had just had it replaced.) Or maybe I am just too lazy and want to drive.
The OI Girl gave me a Gel Seat Cover and that thing is nice and comfy!
I’m back at that same ‘ol place at work where I have many unfinished projects and today is the day to knock a few of them off. Get them out of the way. Plus I want to make it for a beach lunch and possibly a DIVE THIS AFTERNOON!!!
Well, That’ll have to do for now, I’m going to look for the key! Have a great day!

Finally!

Well, hopefully to day we’ll get the Pirates Day parade and song contest and street party finished! Last weekend I spent the weekend setting up then taking down after every event got cancelled. Now I’ll spend my second weekend, only hopefully this time it won’t be cancelled!
It doesn’t look like rain today!

It’s getting harder and harder to wake up at my usual time of 5 AM. It is soo dark that early! I can’t decide if I’ll have to open a can of self discipline and get up anyway of set my alarm clock to go off later.

I was talking last night with the OI girl. We had a disagreement. She thinks I am obviously hornier than her and I think she is obviously hornier than me. It is an intersting difference of perspective. I think that outside a relationship, guys are hornier, but in a relationship, girls are way way hornier. I think it’s extremely obvious and doesn’t even require discussion, but apparently, it does. I think I know what makes her think I’m hornier, even if my brain doesn’t want sex, I still have a physical reaction to her “automatic female charms”. for example, when I was there last week, we went outside to lay in a hammock. I thought we’d stay out there for an hour or two, maybe take a nap and relax. But no. Five minutes later, after she lays next to me and her body is next to mine, something happens, and suddenly I can’t even bend at the waist anymore. So instead of relaxing on the hammock for a while, we end up going back inside for an hour or two. I mean, she didn’t do anything to turn me on, she was just there, it’s not her fault, and my brain just wanted to relax on the hammock. So what happended?

Anyway, I must get ready to go to work. I should have some good pictures from today to post!

TGIF

I am really glad it’s Friday. I don’t have plans this weekend, I don’t know if my boss has plans for me either, I don’t know what’s going on with this no-longer-any-fun Pirates Week. The schedule is so screwed up. . . . .
It doesn’t look like rain today.

I’d really like to go diving! I haven’t been in a loooooong long time.

Har dee har!

It’s kind of hard for me to say without laughing, but last night the song contest and street party got cancelled again because of rain! I’m still home because I’m working a later shift because if the North Side Heritage day scheduled for today. But I’m siting here in my apartment, listening to the torrential rain, my dog is trembling because of the thunder and I just can’t help but laugh!
