i had kind of a rough weekend my lawnmower shot an almost golf ball size rock into my ankle and I feel lucky I can walk. It filled my shoe up with blood before I could even bandage it. Then I hit a root and bent the mower blade 90 degrees. So I didn’t even finish mowing the yard.
my jury duty, for which I was placed on the jury September 21st, still hasn’t started. My service was due to end on the 4th Tomorrow is Yom Kippur, and it looks like I will be missing services. I thought, on the 21st, that the 3 day case would easily be over by the end of my term.
last night, from about 2AM, I had the recurring dream that I had slept through the alarm and was late. I kept waking up and looking at the clock and immediately feel like I slept through the alarm.
my attitude, at this minute, is pretty frustrated. I don’t want to go to work I don’t want to go to jury duty I don’t want to do anything but bitch and moan.
Hurricane Ivan was really hard on the Cayman Islands, Hurricane Ian was extremely hard on Florida. Tropical Depression 9 was supposed to be named Hermione, but a storm formed suddenly off of Africa that stole that name. So we got Ian. Almost Ivan, but without the V.
i feel for you, Florida People. Take action, don’t wait for the government. A hurricane never really ends, the effects just fade and fade and fade. There is no “it’s over” line. Do the best you can with what you have.
I wish you well.
i have jury duty today, and I’m already on a jury. My service ends Oct 4th. Hope the case is over by then.
Before the end of this year, the 8 billionth person will be born. 8 billion people alive on this earth.
i remember in grade school, one day the teacher told us the world hit 3 billion. The article where I got the image above mentions 4 billion.
I’ve heard opinions that the world is at its maximum population right now. Could be. Seems like things are getting bad quicker and quicker.
Anyway, i saw the picture above, thought it was cool and decided to post about it. I didn’t mean to turn it into a doom and gloom post.
Hurricane Ian tore thru Florida yesterday and last night, we’ll be hearing about that today. Tomorrow I report to be on an actual jury. After that, my jury duty should be over.
Today is payday. Today is Thursday. Today is payday Thursday. I need to go shopping, mostly for dog food and cat food. Coincidentally my two dogs and my five cats both consume one bag of dog food every 10 days. Therefore, on paydays, I usually buy three bags of dog food and three bags of cat food. Today however because of the weather there are many panic buyers in the stores and it is very crowded. So I’m dreading stopping by the store on the way home from work today.
We’re probably going to get some weather at the beginning of next week.
in other news, yesterday I was selected for a jury. My case starts Monday. I’ve been picked each and every time. Even though I was able to get out of it a couple of times.
This last week has not been a good one for a lot of my plants. I think I lost all 9 of my tomato plants. They were holding on, barely growing it all. Then in the last week, they just wilted up and died I don’t think any plants in the screen House gets enough light. I wish I had put it where I knew it should be instead of where the ex wife wanted it.
I have a fern that has been struggling that seems to be ready to kick the bucket. Lettuce has quit producing leaves and is making seed. Beets never did well.
I have a lemon tree that has been dying for years. I’ve tried everything to save it .
it hurts to see the plants suffer, decline and die. I have a lot that are doing really well though. Most.
Made it out yesterday without being on a jury. I got selected, but got released because I had a note from the court excusing me one day for a dental appointment. Yeay!
I picked a batch of bananas last week Their type is called botlers. They are more like a plantain than a banana. Everyone on my street has a big bunch from my batch. They’re good if you cook them in a frying pan with a little oil. My Teflon pan wasn’t very good for this and someone recommended a cast iron skillet. So I went out and got one.
It is so good, I don’t think I will ever use my old non-stick pans any more. Tonight I had eggs and turkey sausage for dinner, cooked in the cast iron.
Went diving today, rough with a lot of current, but still good.
Now its back to work Monday, and report for jury duty again
Above are yesterdays pictures of the plants in the “Screen House”. Top left are some giveaway plants. They are really nice as when it rains, they hold a drop of water in their petals like a jewel. They grow well under almost all conditions and turn red after time in the sun. Top right is a wide angle shot that shows almost everything going on inside the Screen House.
Bottom left are radishes, beans and broccoli. I think they’re growing too slow, probably not enough light. Bottom right is cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. They seem healthy, but are holding steady and not growing much. Maybe not enough light. There’s a huge poinciana tree there that I wish I had planted at the side of the yard instead of the center. I trimmed it back I thought too far but it comes back thicker and thicker.
Dodged the bullet again on jury duty yesterday. I saved my own butt. I don’t have to report again until next week.
Above are pictures from the yard yesterday. On the left is some flowers they I should take time to identify. And to the right is a tropical fruit called sweetsop that I’m trying to learn when it’s ripe for picking.
Today is work then jury duty. As usual, I don’t want to be on a case.
im sleepy this morning, still working on cuppa coffee #1.
