Getting The Leak Fixed… Again

This weekend her team is coming to fix my leak. Hopefully it will stay fixed. But I fear I’ve opened a can of worms by tiling my flat concrete roof..

I think they used the wrong material to stick the tile down. On the front porch and back porch It is still the original color, on the roof it is turning black. That means it’s absorbing water……

Happy Friday !!!

Big Mistake ?

Im starting to think that putting tike on my roof was a mistake. Water collects between the tiles and the wall and leaks. It’s going to be an expensive fix with questionable results.

That is all. Over and out.

Have a good day!

Book: Freak The Mighty

Freak The Mighty is a heartwarming , tear jerking book I really really enjoyed reading.. It has been made into a movie called The Mighty, which I had seen several times before I read the book.

The story is told from the perspective of Max, a giang kid who is probably destined for a life of jails and institutions. As a younger child, his father murdered his mother and is in prison. Max lives with his grandparents and is doing poorly in school, no friends, etc.

A new neighbor moves in next door, Kevin. Kevin has a disease that prevents his bones from growing while his organs grow normally. Kevin is extremely intelligent and full of knowledge and wit.

They become inseparable friends. Max starts carrying Kevin around on his shoulders and they become known as Freak The Mighty, with Kevin being “Freak” and Max being “The Mighty”.

Ive spoiled it enough for you already. The book and movemare both excellent. Must read/see.

Have a great day!

5 Divers Dead In The Maldives

Read the article HERE

I’ve been to the Maldives twice, so I feel a connection with the story..

The entrance to the cave is at 160 ft. I think the answer lies on if there was still gas in their tanks or not. If there was gas in their tanks they probably died from oxygen toxicity, too deep on the gas that they had. If they ran out of air and there is no air in their tanks maybe there was a silt out and they got lost in the cave.

Either way it’s a pity that they died.

People who I talk to are saying they were stupid and should have known better. But that’s not really true, if you go on Safari with dangerous animals, you’re not expected to be an expert on dangerous animal safaris, you trust your tour guide. If you’re going white water rafting, you don’t have to be an expert, you trust your tour guide. If you’re on a diving vacation and the tour guide says we’re doing this dive which we do all the time with tourists just like you…. well, people would probably think it’s ok.

In Mexico, I’ve been on scuba dives where they are taking open water students in overhead environments for which they are clearly not certified. People trust the tour guide on vacation.

I’m still following the story,, But I’d like to know who from the dive company was with them? Who was there tour guide. If the dive company sent them down unsupervised that is extreme negligence. I’d like to know if there is still gas in their tanks, and what it analyzed as (percentage of oxygen) or if they all ran out of air, which seems unlikely.

Hapoy Friday ! Have a good weekend! Stay safe!

Book: Your Second Life Begins…

Version 1.0.0

I just finished this book, “Your Second Life Begins When You Realize You Only Have One“.

It was a good book, translated from French, about a woman who wants to improve her life and coincidentally meets a “routinologist” who coaches her to break the routine and improve her life.

Its a good read, and I’d recommend it to anyone. I personally thought it was a little too stickly sweet. But it’s a good theme and has emotional bits.

Pretty good surprise ending too

Have a great day!

Yoga Retreat Weekend

Had a good weekend at a yoga retreat that was here in the Cayman Islands. Sea & Soul Retreat, only about a mile from my house.

Now it’s Monday and I’m all depressed, sad it’s over, wishing it could go on forever.

I’m back to work tomorrow . I basically work a week, take a week off, work another week, take another week off, work one more week l, and I’ll be retired. Getting near the end of the wire…

Have a great day!

HRV – Been A Long Time

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the plus side of the HRV. I don’t claim to understand HRV, from what I have been told, it cannot be too high.

My understanding is this, when we inhale, our bodies move toward panic. When we exhale, our bodies move towards rest and relaxation. HRV measures the difference between the individual heartbeats and the inhalation / exhalations.

I don’t claim to understand it. Imagine a fit person watching TV, they get up to get a piece of celery and walking to the fridge barely changes their heart rate. And obese person watching TV, gets up to go get another piece of cake, his heart rate may increase drastically for the effort of getting up and walking to the fridge. His heart rate variation is much higher than the fit person.

I’m told I’m looking at the “wrong scale”, but don’t understand it. HRV. Again and probably not for the last time.

I also realize I completely ignore the “balanced” & “unbalanced” words in there. I only see H heart R rate V variability.

I am going to a yoga retreat this Saturday and Sunday and I am pretty excited about it.

Have a great weekend!

Walk On The Dock

Yesterday, I made a cool video of my morning walk on the dock, where Inswim in the dark. The video looked like it was coming out good, but when I played it back it was mostly all black. (That rhymes) Above is a screenshot from the video yesterday

It’s really nice when the sea is flat and calm and the air is warm. (In the winter, the air is too cool to swim, because I’m spoiled)

Thw weekend is almost here! I’m looking forward to it!
