Hurricane Michael.

Good luck to you in Michaels Path. Dang storm looks like it’s even gonna whack the UK. And it maintains strength pretty well while it travels over land.

This is typical for the end of hurricane season. Loosely speaking, in the beginning of the season, the storms start near Africa, and head mostly north or north-westish, Then the storms start forming further and further west, moving more parallel to the equator. Then, near the end, they’re forming around here, with a week or so of rain, storm gets organized, and moves away, to get named and develop more. Hurricane Michael is a strong one though.

Stay safe!

The Missing Years

I was looking for a missing photo, and realized I don’t have any backup for my pictures from 2005 and 2006. I used to back up my photos on DVD every year, and I have from 1998 till about 2011 on DVD. I don’t think I was missing ’05 and ’06 before, whenever “before” was. I DID know that I was missing 1997, the year I moved here, and the year I bought my first digital camera. After the annual DVDs, about 2011, I started keeping my backup on external hard drives. But they fail, as I have found out. Gold colored DVDs are the best, waterproof. Hurricane Michelle got all my discs wet, and all the silver ones were ruined. They looked ok immediately after, but over time, the got “holes” in the “foil”.

What’s your backup system? Do you have one?

This morning I had a good walk with Sheba the dawg. It was raining and I took the umbrella, but as soon as I walked away from the house, it quit raining, and when I got back, it started raining again. It must’ve been raining only at my house… The sea was strange, glassy but with a big crashing wave about every 5 or 10 seconds. I didn’t swim. And it’s cloudy but should be clearing up soon. Our rain moved away and became Michael.

Have a great day!

Ashy Loves Lemon Grass

Ashy at the Lemon Grass Bar
Ashy displays her grapefruit sized belly

I have a sprout for a clump of Lemon Grass that I’m trying to grow. I discovered her eating it, several times. I don’t try to stop her, because she likes it. But I hope she doesn’t kill it. Lemon grass smells fantastic, and I’ve heard that you can make tea out of it.

It was a good weekend, albeit rainy. I picked up the wife Saturday afternoon and it’s good to have her home. And I got a passing grade in my taking care of her plants while she was gone!

Sunday I watched American football.

The NFL will probably contact me to remove this image

It was a quiet, stay at home lazy weekend. A good one.

Now to have a great week, rain predicted till Wednesday.

Ciao!

Cool Saturday

It is c-c-cold here! Cool breeze from the south, probably more than a breeze, steady wind. Solid high clouds with the lower rainclouds underneath. I’m wearing a hoodie jacket.

Live view.

The wife’s in Fort Lauderdale, headed back home today from her two weeks in Costa Rica. I’m going to pick her up around noon.

And that’s about it! Have a great weekend!

The Dead Zone

Welcome to the Dead Zone, where bloggers can’t blog. They somtimes skip a day, hoping that will cure their bloggers blogging block. But it won’t. They’re in the Dead Zone.

I had no idea what to post yesterday, and the feeling remains today.

But it’s Friday, that’s good! And the wife returns from Costa Rica tomorrow. Coffee’s good today, compared to weak, like day before yesterday. That’s good! The weather was good yesterday, That’s good! Weatherman said rain and it was sunny! Better than vice versa! When I was a working in radio, I always said “boring is good.”

Life can still be good, even in the dead zone.

Have a great day, and a great weekend!

Roof Workers and Premee Bananas

Most of you know I work at the airport. And most of you know the airport is getting a major upgrade. And maybe, like a lot of workplaces, you know that I’m not supposed to post about the goings-on at work.

BUT! Most of you know that I work down the road a piece from the actual airport, near where the ATC Tower is, and yesterday I had to go to the airport terminal for some training. Walking there, and I saw these guys working on the new roof.

Below is a zoomed-in shot.

I would like to go up there, just to see the view, and walk on that curved roof… Not going to happen, but I think the pics are pretty neat!

Several weeks ago, the stalk of a banana plant broke, and the bananas quit growing. I cut the plant down and left the bananas on the porch. They ripened. They’re almost as big around as your thumb, but longer. I ate one, and it was good, but most of them, you can’t peel. So I threw them back in the banana patch as fertilizer. I mourn the loss of my bananas. Woe is me!

And most of you know that it’s cloudy here and supposed to rain. And my coffee is weak. Life is rough.

Have a great day!!!

Jumble Dreams

Last night was a night of weird dreams, I remember them all, and I remember them not at all. I remember a passed out on the floor old man, very skinny, and I was getting ready to give him CPR and ventilate him. I remember another drunk guy, so drunk that he was staggering around, barely able to stand, but there were dozens of elastic strings attached to his glass that went out like wheel spokes to the walls, so he couldn’t spill his drink. I remember being at my old FM transmitter site, and I wsn’t supposed to be there. I remember power dropping off one transmitter and then came back up. There were candy vending machines next to the transmitters and they looked the same. I dreamt about tourists in an overheating Chevrolet van with a leaky radiator. Tey asked me for help, and I took the whole engine out, looking for the leak and then found a black rubber hose in the bottom of the completely empty engine compartment with water coming out. I was thinking that I had no idea where the hose was supposed to go and that I had no idea how to put the engine back together.

I guess that’s when I woke up.

I had no idea what I was going to write when I sat down, and all this just flowed out.

Yesterday it rained pretty hard, but not for very long. I haven’t checked the weather yet today, but yesterdays said rain all week.

I just went and looked, here it is:

It’s pretty much the only weather I use for local weather. It’s a cool website, not an app. If you go to the website, see the button in the left collum that says “Ships Near”? That’s pretty cool too. You can zoom out and slide it around and see all the ships at sea all over the world. The weather comes from sombodies little private weather station at their house I think.

Aaaaand I rekkon that’s about it for today. I don’t feel good, I don’t feel bad, perfectly neutral. It’s weird asking myself how I feel and not being able to figure the answer. Am I crazy?

Have a great day!

Cracked Me Up

I saw this on Facebook last night and laughed out loud. Seriously, how often, when you’re alone, or in public, do you actually laugh out loud? People type “LOL” all the time, but people seldom do it. I read once that readers preferred to read “Ha Ha” over “LOL”

I guess nobody liked my Friday Porno post. Probably because of the word “porno” in the title. My readers are pretty much a “G” rated bunch. (that rhymes)

It was a nice weekend, I mowed the yard and went to the beach. I also modified my espresso spoon. I ordered one of these on Amazon.

but it was too short, so I sawed it in half, put a dowel in the middle, with epoxy and four nuts and bolts, wood stained it, and now it looks like this:

I really like it. It now reaches to the bottom of my coffee container, and makes your coffee taste better.

It’s a beautiful morning, but the weatherman says 85% chance of rain. In fact, he says rain all week. So I won’t be riding the scooter today.

It was super hard to wake up this morning, the past several days, I’ve been waking up at 4:30, before the alarm, and getting up, and enjoying the mornings. Not today! I feel good though.

Have a wonderful day, and a great week!

Easy Friday Porno Post

Heres a sexy ass for a Friday Porno post. Pretty hot, huh?

Well, as I mentioned, I can now see my followed sites on the WordPress App, I wasn’t logged into my ancient WordPress.com account, I was only logged into my real account, MarkD60.com. Now, since I’m logged on to both, I can again upload images using the WordPress app. This makes me think that my images are uploading to wordpress.cm and not MarkD60.com. Which may not matter, or be bad. What if I deleted the WordPress account? Would a large percentage of my photos here disappear? Just an observation. I’m not going to worry about it today.

Have a great weekend!

The Cayman Cloud

Cayman Cloud, phrase coined by Guy Harvey.

In Cayman, there’s a phenomenon called the Cayman Cloud. As the tradewinds blow across the island, the warmer land forms a long, ribbonlike cloud, that you see in the picture above. Very common, and it can rain, even when there’s no chance of rain, as far as the weather forcasters predict.

From my observations, it happens most on the south side of the island. Why it doesn’t cover the whole island, I don’t know. I suspect because of the North Sound.

But it sure sucks when my lunch beach is the only cloudy beach on the whole island! It didn’t happen yesterday, when I took this picture, but it happens too often for my liking!

Have a great day!
