Possible Banana Disaster

My huge bunch of bananas quite literally ripened overnight. I’ve got to eat a lot of bananas.

I’ve given a lot away, probably a third, I’ll be giving away as many as I can today.

Looks like more stormy weather coming.

As far as I’m concerned, it can rain till my foot gets better.

Five and a half more weeks.

Have a great day!

Chopping My Head Off, One Slice At A Time

Above is my shaving rig.

My Grandpa used a soap brush and because he did, so do I. I have for a very very very long time now. I use any bar soap, and it makes super good lather. I cut the bar soap with a knife to make it fit in the cup.

The soap cup, I begged from a coffee shop because I could tell, it was the perfect aluminimum soap cup. It used to have packets of sugar and artificial sweetners in it. This way way back in the 1990’s.

The stand that holds everything, I got on our relatively recent trip to Italy. The stand came with its own soap cup, which was inferior and cast aside. It’s floatng around the house here somewhere.

The safety razor. I just got it a few weeks ago, at a beauty supply store here in Cayman. (I was looking for a professional toenail tool, if you’re wondering what a he-man like me was doing inside a beauty supply store). The razor has no sentimental value and is cheap, but seems to hold the double edged razor blade ok. I asked my wife, (who’s in Scotland now), if she saw one, to pick one up for me. It would be cool to have a Scottish safety razor. Every day, I nick myself. Usually in the same spot(s) as yesterday. My chin, behind my right ear, and on the left side of my head. It is a poor musician who blames his instrument, but dang! I don’t blame the “razor holder”, they’re inherently more dangerous than disposables. Hopefully with practice, I’ll get the hang of it.

If I don’t slice my whole head off before then!

Have a great day!

Yours truly,

Scarhead

Broken Leg

Here’s a GPS track from my watch of me mowing he yard last Friday. Good thing I got it done, because the next day, I would break my leg, tripping over the dawg.

I didn’t even really trip, I felt my foot coming down on this soft, furry thing, and I tried to change the trajectory of my foot, I kind of rolled over on the top of it.

Above is the X-Ray, with my blue writing showing where the break is. Teeny tiny line running between the blue arrows. (The X-Ray tech showed me the pics, and mentioned she was emailing them to the doctor, I asked if she could CC me on that email and she did).

I didn’t think it was broken, it didn’t swell too much, but it hurt. I went to the doctor mostly to find out when I could get the all clear to run and swim again. Six weeks with this boot on it.

I feel sad that I can’t run and swim. Bye-bye beach lunches too. Sadness is an emotion that I seldom feel, and is easily recognizable. It’s not like depression or self-pity, which I always battle. Depressioin comes from anger, self-pity comes from pride, but that’s a post for another day!

Apparently, las night it rained behind the house, but not in the front. The back was soaked, the front, dry as a bone!

Have a great day!

I Don’t Know What To Say That Doesn’t Involve The Word Monday

And if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.

Twisted my ankle yesterday, Pretty sure I’ll go see a doctor today

Had a perfect weekend, never left the property since I got home Friday.

Speaking of Friday, I got my first ever reimbursement check from my work health insurance. I’m going to have to ask them to re issue it because the written amount is different ftom the number amount.

One cent! Or zero, epends on if you’re a glass half empty or a glass half full kind of person. My bank charges a $10 check cashing fee, BTW.

Cloudy day so far today. Haven’t started the scooter in two weeks.

“Generally Cloudy” I don’t think I’ve ever heard that term used befoore…

I’m actually looking forward to the week. Have a good one!

Right Now in The UK

As I type this, my Wife is probably getting off the plane and getting her luggage and going through customs at Heathrow Airport. They have an hour and a half wait then a 3 hour flight to Edinbourgh, Scotland. She left at 6 yesterday afternoon. It seems longer to me, being here, while she’s traveling for 13 hours than it seemed when we travelled eveh further Miami to Rome nonstop.

It’s Friday, yard needs mowing, animals need tending to. Sheba’s been wearing the cone because she’s been digging up a sore on her cheek. I have a complicated schedule of pills for Sheba and Ashy thee cat. (I dodn’t know my wife did all this work when she was here!)

Because of the cone, Sheba has been depressed. I want to try to get her on the kayak this weekend. I haven’t had my kayak out in a very very long time.

It is the first day of hurricane season too.

Have a great weekend!

Bye Bye Baby!

This afternoon my Wife leaves for Scotland for two weeks. She cane home yesterday and super-stocked me with groceries. I fear two weeks without her, but I also fear not taking good enough care of her plants.

I would like to go to Scotland, but only my wife and her friend are going, the husbands are staying home.

She’s getting on the British Airways Cayman-London flight. It stops once in the Bahamas. The BA flight is the biggest plane that regularly lands at ORIA, Owen Roberts International Airport (where I work)

Have a safe trip Baby! I’ll be counting the hours till you get home! (I’ll tell her that myself when she wakes up, and when I see her off, and a thousand more times!

You have a safe trip too, through your day!

Someone Up There Likes Me

After my post yesterday, and a forecast of more rain, it is nice and clear today. Had a good run n swim this morning, and did my situps app on the back porch.

Last night was my Wife’s going away party, today is her last day of work as manager at the Guy Harvey Gallery. It kinda makes me sad, because the crew there is like family to me, but the wife is moving on to bigger and better things at The Cayman Islands National Art Gallery.

She starts after her trip to Scotland, which starts this Thursday.

I’ll be guarding the dogs and cats and most importantly, making sure nobody steals the sand at the beach while she’s gone.

Have a great day!

Catfood Theives

I’ve mentioned before how I have to guard the cats when They eat because chickens steal their food.

Here’s some pictures of the culprits.

Above is Whilefoot.

And here is blackfoot.

I don’t have a picture of Yellowfoot yet, but I’ll get one soon. Yellowfoot seems to have gone missing for the past couple of days, and I hope he’s OK. Yellowfoot is a teenage rooster about the same age as Blackfoot.

Blackfoot sneaking up on the cats.

Also, by the way, I’m posting this by writing with my pen and it’s being converted to text by my tablet.

It was a rainy weekend, with a lot of clouds and wind. Amd it’s still raining, but I got my run/swim in anyway!

Thursday, my wife goes to Scotland for two weeks. Like last time, if I don’t post for a few days, send sandwiches!

Have a great day! Have a great wee!k

The Flooded Bedroom

I had a dream last night, a repeat dream, about a house with a permanently flooded bedroom. The walls and floor and bed were all black. The floor sloped up, so that when you left the bedrrom, you walked uphill a little to dry floor. The house was square, with I think, four rooms. Outside, there was the house, and a gas station store next door. There was nothing for miles and life consisted of these two buildings. There were other people there, my friend Quincy, for one.

I woke up from the dream and tried to write it down, but I couldn’t. The paper seemed damp, and the pencil lead wouldn’t stick. It was weird. I’m aware that I can’t remember a lot of what I could when I was trying to write. And like I said, it seemed familiar, like a repeat dream.

It’s scheduled to rain forever, at least as far into the future as the weatherman can see. This morning I didn’t run, but walked a little with raincoat and umbrella. No swim.

Have a great weekend.
